Description of Work: They installed my pre-finished hardwood floors from Lumber Liquidators. My contractor sub-contracted these people because they were HIGHLY recommended. I happened to meet the manager on the day they first came out and his motto was "Do the Job Right the First Time". He said all the right words for me to walk away and let him install my hardwood. The 1st 2 rooms they did were the master and study rooms. They were a little off, but we were willing to let these go as long as they didn't make the similar mistakes in the living/dining/foyer area. They put too many white colored boards (this is walnut) adjacent to each other in the middle of the room and they put the ends of the boards to close to each other. There is supposed to be a minimum of a 6" offset between the ends of adjacent boards. It voids Lumber Liquidator's 100 year warranty to have adjacent boards offset less than 6" on either end. The hallway/foyer/living/dining room area was next and they made it even worse. Nearly every board was offset less than 6" and they used boards that were defective and should have been returned. They even installed hardwood where cabinets were supposed to go and then ripped the hardwood back out once they figured out nothing supposed to go there and no reimbursement was offered for the wood they destroyed. Days later my wife and come to inspect the job and it became more and more obvious of how horrible the work was. We called our contractor and he set up an appointment for the Manager at J&D to come out and review the issues we were having with his installation. The guy refused to accept that the installation was out of spec. My contractor pulled up Lumber Liquidator's installation specifications and it explained in great detail what was acceptable and what would void the warranty. Everything this guy did to my floor voided the 100 year warranty from Lumber Liquidators. When my contractor tried to explain to him that his installation voided my warranty he WENT OFF!! The guy blamed me for the problems! He put his poor workmanship off on me. Then as the guy left my house he spit on me. I even warned him he was on camera. I have video surveillance of my entire property with emphasis on the front entry. He didn't seam to care that I might press charges. Spitting on someone is a chargeable offense. | | I personally spent 2 weeks removing EACH BOARD his crew installed with an oscillating saw (to cut the staples off) to salvage as much as possible. It cost me $200.00 just in tools and saw blades and nearly 80 hours of my labor. I get paid $45/hr so that's $3,600.00 in labor and another $200.00 in tools. I had to SKIP CHRISTMAS with the family/parents to get this done so the next contractor could come in on his NEW YEARS holiday break and reinstall the hardwood I just removed! | |My contractor still had to purchase about 10 NEW BOXES to make up for the wood J&D destroyed, the boards I destroyed, and the boards a previous installer had stolen. He also was stuck with paying extra for the services both contractors did even though the first contractor had botched the job. | |That's not all! In the master bedroom downstairs the floor started buckling! The new installer inspected the situation and the problem was multi-issued. Besides the offsets of the adjacent boards being less than 6", the boards were nailed too tight together (no room for expansion), and the butted the perimeter boards directly up against the sheetrock!! This meant there was ZERO room for expansion and there was a 100% guarantee the floor was going to buckle. At that point ALL OF THE BASEBOARDS had to be ripped out of the house so they could take a say and cut clearances between the outside boards and the wall to allow for expansion and contraction. | |We are still having problems today as I write this. More boards are buckling as the humidity goes up in our house (summer time).

Actually we deserve this mark. I can truly say we let this estimate slip through the cracks. We try very hard everyday to make sure all our potential customers get their estimates in a timely manner because this is how we make our living and pay our employee's. I want to apologize for not providing you with the best customer service we strive for ourselves.

Description of Work: Complete remodel of master bath. Had a few issues but they responded quickly and professionally. I purchased the non-building materials (faucets, countertop, paint, tile, etc.). Which made it easier for me since I knew the items were available when needed. I would recommend staying in touch with them to insure you understand what is being done (not just this contractor but all) to insure you are on the same page. I would recommend this company.

Description of Work: I purchased a design consult with a rough draft. |The two men arrived and were on time, both very nice and professional. I explained that I was trying to update my master bath on a small budget and wanted to definitely install a glass enclosure for the shower. We spoke about counter tops, mirrors and possible tub replacement. They verbalized rough costs of some items but said that they would email me an actual estimate. About a month later, I received a Price List for a total high end remodel, including everything you could imagine. |I guess this may be what others want, but I was pretty specific as to my pretty basic remodel plan. I feel that I wasted $49.00. I hate that they wasted their time to do this consult, if they were just going to send me a price list in the end. I expected an estimate for the cost of doing the things we spoke of and was disappointed with what I received. I didn't receive a rough draft drawing of their idea for the remodel-update of my master bath. The approximate cost at the bottom of the email was $14,000. I decided to keep looking for a contractor that was a better fit to my needs and finances. I wish them luck in the future.

Description of Work: Complete kitchen remodel and replaced flooring in LR and DR. J&D was an excellent company to work with - they looked at our old kitchen and offered a design for the remodel. They made suggestions for improvements we hadn't thought of and offered advice on the best way to proceed. Their employees were friendly, helpful and courteous. hen the tile came in (They were very responsive to my request for a quote but I had to email several times to actually get the appointment scheduled. They were not great at responding to my emails despite me allowing 3-5 days for them to respond. When they were half way through the back splash installation, I took a close look and realized that several of the pieces they had cut were cracked but they pieced them together and hung them anyway. I asked them to go back and replace the cracked ones and they stated that the tile was very thin which was why it as cracking. Again, I asked them to be more careful when they cut it and replace the cracked ones. They did replace some, but not all despite my asking. Ultimately, I ran out of tile (my fault. I apparently measured wrong....although a lot of tile was wasted because they cracked it) so they had to come back after I had obtained more tile. When the tile came in (4 days later), I again had to send 3 emails waiting several days in between without a response to get them to come back. In the meantime, I marked an additional 20 tiles that were hanging on the wall, cracked that I wanted replaced. When the job was finally scheduled, they did replace the ones I requested and ultimately completed the job well. It looks nice, though I did find 2 tiles that were still cracked, albeit not so obvious. I just find it unbelievable that they would hang cracked tile and think that was ok. Also their responsiveness to my scheduling requests was poor. Finally, at the end of the first day, my garbage disposal wasn't working. It worked before they arrived and they had taken the cover plate off the switch. By the time they left it didn't work. I spoke with them via phone and they talked me through a few things. It turned out to be a fuse that was blown (for that switch only). They offered to come back later that week to check the wiring and assure it was in working order and I was asked to text my availability over the next 2-3 days. I did but never got a response. The gesture was nice, but there was no follow through. Overall I am pleased with the finished product but I felt it was far too much work on my end to "supervise" what they were doing to avoid having cracked tile on my back splash. I will not be using their services again.

I spent months gathering estimates and really researching the best provider. A high end builder referred me to J&D when I asked who did his tile work. J&D's estimate was RIGHT IN LINE with the other estimates (4 others) I received. I wanted to really make sure my master shower was done correctly, as I did not want to deal with another leak in the future. I wanted a quality contractor. My job was just finished today, and WITHOUT hesitation, I would use them again, especially if I needed another kitchen or bathroom done, although they seem to be able to do about anything. Kenny did the framing/plumbing work. He was a former educator, and was a very personable guy. He was extremely patient with me, and did everything to code and really spent time to do a quality job. He NEVER acted put out when I made changes or had him draw out the different choices for me when it came to re-designing the framework. The tile guys spent about a week on my very large bathroom. I had limestone (from Venice Tile and Marble $5 sq ft that I bought) installed, which does cost slightly more in labor to lay compared to ceramic tile. It is beautiful. They were great when I pointed out little things, and had no problem fixing any small issue. Their motto was "we want you to be happy". No money was paid up front. The entire job took about 2 weeks (that does not include time to order shower glass, which could not be ordered until shower was completed). They were right on schedule, and good about communicating the time they would arrive, etc. The guys cleaned up and prepped well to reduce dust, etc. They swept at the end of each day, and wiped down my doorknobs, etc. I have an entire shutterfly picture that documents day by day work so that you can see the framing, shower pan installation, etc. Message me if you would like to see it. I am VERY happy with the bathroom. 100% would recommend. Also, David, the owner, has had the same number for 18 years, so this is not a fly by night company=if you have a problem, they will be around to fix it.
Description of Work: Ripped out all the tile in my master bathroom (which is large), rebuilt my shower and reframed the tub deck area. Did all the plumbing and tile work for master bathroom. Installed frameless shower glass.

I bought the big deal and made the appointment for the estimate. The contractor arrived promptly (amazing since most people have trouble finding my house). He was very thorough in finding out just what was wanted and included some suggestions. He also looked at the kitchen and gave me some ideas for it. He also looked at my attic folding stair. I received a detailed estimate for the bathtub replacement and folding stair repair. We have accepted the estimate and will start the projects in another 3 weeks. So far, I am very pleased. I'll provide another review on the actual work. The Big Deal was just for the estimate.

J & D Remodel were prompt with appointments. Their price was okay. We couldn’t do that now so we set it off. It was a bathroom remodel. I think they were reasonable it is just that we felt that we couldn't do that now. They were really nice. They kind of drew out a basic plan and told me what that I wanted to do in the bathroom could be done. They were just great, courteous and fair for all that they were going to do. The price was a little high for now. They were very punctual. They were very professional. I am keeping that email so I could get in touch if needed. It was February the 6th that they got back with the estimate.

Provider arrived on time, assessed the area where the installation was to be made, and promptly began to work. The old vent-a-hood was hard wired, not a plug in, and that meant additional work and time for the technition. He did not seem to mind. Upon completion of the installation, he cleaned all the areas that had debris caused from the installation. In addition, he went to the hardware store and purchased a can of touch and foam to seal a hole that been left when wires previously inserted had to be moved to another spot. He was very, very professional.

J &D Tiles Hardwood Installers were timely and did the work as promised. They were easy to work with and willing to adjust the project, as needed, to meet my budget and what I wanted to spend.
Description of Work: They re-did the backsplash in our kitchen.
Coordinated with cabinet designer and designer, Cindy Udell, to determine wall to be removed, cabinet removal and details of movement of electrical, plumbing, removal of wall, etc. Demolished current kitchen and repaired walls. Scraped popcorn ceiling and repaired walls, painted walls, trim and doors. Coordinated and supervised installation of new cabinets, granite countertops and appliances. Installed new flooring. Made sure all demolished debris was removed from the premises and cleaned. There were very few problems and were handled quickly and efficiently. The results are stunning!!
Description of Work: David Parker coordinated the entire project. We removed a wall, completely renovated the kitchen, gathering room, dining room and family room, which included new cabinetry, new flooring, tile, backsplash in the kitchen, scraping popcorn ceiling, painting, moving some electrical outlets, installing new fixtures. The attention to detail and professionalism was outstanding. The flooring, tile and custom backsplash are installed beautifully and he designed a backsplash unique to our kitchen. His crew was always respectful and courteous. Each day, everything was cleaned and put away.
