Description of Work: I used Sequoyah Masonry Corp to repair the top of the chimney that had been injured due to lighting or something and some of it was chipped off so that had to take it apart and re do it. They also fixed the cracks further down. It is a very high chimney so that to put up a scaffolding.

Description of Work: In desperation for a good contractor, after reviewing Angie's List, I called Tom Speed and told him the mess I was in on a renovation project that started two years ago. My roof is still leaking (in the chimney area) and with a $15,000.00 new roof installed including all the sheathing and a $5,000.00 patch job (all within 4 months of each other) - still my roof leaks. Tom was quick to respond. Even though it is a HOLIDAY, I received a call from Tom this morning asking if I had a problem with him coming out and taking a look. Within a short time, he and his wife were here. How REFRESHING it is to finally meet a contractor who cares about what they do. Tom went up on the roof, came down, and gave me sincere advice as to how he would proceed if this were his home. He gave me a quote which was extremely reasonable. I understand fully why this firm has so many positive reviews now. If ANYONE in Eastern Tennessee needs work on their home - give Tom a call. You will be glad you did !!!!

Description of Work: Representative of Sequoyah Masonry Corporation visited my home to suggest ways to fix a major retaining wall and to give me an estimate on the project. He was very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable, and later submitted a detailed plan with an estimate. Though his suggestion seemed reasonable, we decided to first pursue a less extensive solution to see if it would resolve our problems. Nonetheless we appreciated the obvious expertise of Sequoyah Masonry Corporation and would use them in the future.

Description of Work: Built a low stone wall to match a 1930 built wall down my driveway...cemented.

Description of Work: We had two cinder block retaining walls needing to be resurfaced and one needed to be reinforced. We also had a chimney with the part above the roof with flaking brick. They reinforced one retaining wall with concrete and extra cinder blocks before resurfacing it completely. The second retaining wall just needed to be resurfaced. Both walls were done beautifully. The chimney had to be rebuilt from the roof up to include a new flue liner and cap. They had matching brick for our 70's house and did a beautiful job rebuilding the top piece of the chimney. They did everything in a timely and professional manner. They were friendly and easy to talk to when we had questions about what had to be done. We had 3 quotes done on this project. We chose Tom because he has extensive experience and appropriate pricing for what we needed and could afford. They do top-notch work for a reasonable price.

Description of Work: They fixed my porch. They put a footer in, put new block down, and put stone on top of it.

Description of Work: I have a large marble porch on the front of my house. It was crumbling and was very dangerous. My insurance company mandated that it be fixed asap or I would lose my insurance. This entailed: taking off the top layer of marble slabs and stone, tearing down the Marble steps completely and reconstructing from ground up; fixing the stone wall where it had bowed; fixing a large crack in the stone on the front of the house; and reconstructing a small chimney that another mason contractor had left unfinished. The day after I signed the contract, Tom and his crew were out doing the demolition. This was around Thanksgiving holiday. 2010 was the coldest winter on record in nearly 100 years in Knoxville. This did not deter Tom and his crew from getting the work done. They even constructed a tent over the entire front of my house so that they could work in the bad weather. They used their own propane heaters to keep the temperature inside one that they could lay stone (I was not charged one cent extra for any of this). When they took the stones off the porch, they placed them neatly on a pallet and the yard was kept clean during all of their work. They poured gravel, set rebar and had concrete poured on the top of the porch. After that was set, they sealed the concrete. The marble steps were reconstructed from scratch. They look magnificent. The chimney looks great. too. They finished within the deadline that I needed. The job took them a little over two months because of the extent of work that needed to be done.

Description of Work: Tom Speed and his workers built a beautiful stone wall in front of my house as well as two lamppost bases, two low garden walls, two sidewalks and porch steps. Earlier they built me a new fireplace (the old one was falling apart) and a cultured stone wall behind the fireplace.

Description of Work: Tom Speed and his workers built me a beautiful stone wall at the edge of my yard and my parking area. Then they put in steps, two stone sidewalks and the base for my front porch. The workmanship is extraordinary. He takes his time and the result is truly a work of art. They also laid in conduits in case I want to put in lighting or water lines for sprinklers in the future.
