We had a hail storm here in Knoxville, and many houses were damaged. Got the name of this outfit through a friend who knew one of the employees. The person came out quickly after we called, but it was all downhill from there. A crew arrived sometime later to do the repair. One out of the roughly 10 men who arrived spoke English. It appeared that they were in a rush to get it done, and move on to the next of many hail damaged rooves in the area. They damaged several of my gutters. I guess they were getting paid by the job. Sometime later, we noticed a leak on the ceiling in a room we use for storage on the top floor. Not an area we go into a lot. The ceiling was wet, and the plaster on the adjacent wall was sagging off the wall! The work was "guaranteed", so I decided to call Axis to come have a look at it. I called Jason Pittman at his office 17 times over a period of 2 months, and he never came to the phone. Secretary always said he was out of the office and would return my call - he never did. The last time I called him, I asked the secretary if I was going to have to have my lawyer call him in order for him to get on the phone - suddenly he was on the phone!! He told me that the fact that there was a leak did not mean that it was his fault, that it was probably wind damage that occurred after his work was done. He thought that he might be able to come out to look at the roof "in a week or so", because he didn't come to my area much and was so far away. I had another roofing company come out and look at the roof. The Axis crew had removed the top layer of old shingles, and then simply put new tar paper and shingles up over a rotting area of my roof. There were multiple layers of old tar paper and shingles in an area near my chimney that they just rushed and "whitewashed" over, rather than take the time to repair properly. They were paid over $8,000.00 for the job. I had all of the damage repaired by the new company, at my expense, and we are now involved in a lawsuit against Axis and Mr. Pittman.

Provider actually stopped by our house to offer a quote when he saw the damage and missing shingles to our house. They were definitely the best overall value. They communicated with our insurance company and got them to come out for a second look and ended up covering a few other items of damage. We ended up getting a new roof paid for with architectural shingles instead of the cheaper ones that were on our house originally. THey also replaced a sheet or 2 of plywood and had no problem sealing all peaks and valleys, vents and our fireplace very professionally. This was a large job because they also had to tear off 2 layers of shingles. However, they had a large crew and worked all day to get it done in one day. we are very satisfied with their service and would definitely use them again or recommend them to anyone.

Axis sent me a very professional letter claiming exceptional quality and service. Specifically, their letter stated "We've got quality nailed down. This is because we provide full supervision over each and every roofing project from beginning to end by a professional, knowledgeable and friendly project manager". I scheduled an appointment and met with the Axis project manager several times before signing the contract. During those meetings, I questioned the project manager on supervision and quality (I am a construction project manager myself) and was repeatedly assured that Axis was the best. On Aug 3 2011, Axis showed up at my home to replace my roof. I arrived on site at approximately 1000. There was no project manager or site superintendent on site, and no one in charge. My yard was a complete mess. The tarps were thrown on top of my shrubs, which burned them extensively. Old shingles were dangling from the power lines to my home, and several of my window screens were ripped by old shingles that were carelessly thrown from the roof. Additionally, the crew was damaging (splintering) my plywood decking with the shingle removing tool. Finally, the crew was installing new drip edge over the fascia that was to be removed! I called the project manager and his boss, who showed up on site about two hours later. They cleaned up the mess, and acknowledged that they would have to remove and replace the drip edge when they replaced the fascia. They then left the site after a site superintendent arrived. I observed the crew for a few more hours. When nailing the new shingles, they did not use the 6 nail hurricane pattern specified in the contract - and the site supe, even when reminded, did not take action. During the week of 29 Aug, Axis returned to replace my fascia and soffit. They hired a carpenter to do this work, and he did a good job - even though it took him over two weeks. During the week of 5 Sep, Axis returned to install the gutters and downspouts, but did not properly install the drip edge or the flashing around my chimney. In fact, they installed some of the drip edge backwards, and cracked and tore several scores of the new shingles. I informed the Axis President / Owner, and requested his personal attention in this matter. On 28 Sep, Axis again returned to my home, supposedly to complete the job. I arrived at approximately 1100, and there was no project manager or site superintendent present (again). The crew informed me that they were told only to install the gutter screens, and did not know how to repair the drip edge or the damaged shingles. I called the Axis project manager, who showed up about an hour later. He acted like he did not even know about the unacceptable work on my drip edge, including the damaged shingles. After giving Axis three chances to get things right, I told Axis not to return to my property. I then obtained an estimate to finish the job from another contractor. His estimate was $3,000 to complete and repair the Axis work.
