system started working but wasn't cooling to specs. The supply air out of vents was blowing 66 and pulling in from return at 75 I told the man that it should be supplying 15 to 20 degrees cooler then return he said I was right so he goes to the unit and pokes 2 holes into the unit system and reads temperature from there 1 degree difference from vents I told him its not cooling right. man was very argumentative and left without telling me he was finished.
Description of Work: outside AC unit was low on Freon vacuum and recharged system and replaced valve.

Was sent by American Home Shield, our home warranty company. Our upstairs a/c unit was not cooling. The technician was called to come back because the repair was not satisfactory. He claimed that we had deliberately torn up the unit by kicking it and required that my husband (who was dying of cancer) take a credit card and open up the vents on the condenser. When we called them back and told them that we had done so, they refused to come back and AHS refused to honor our a/c warranty until we paid someone out of our pocket (not the $75 service fee) to come and get the unit correctly working again. That cost us an additional $150, besides the $75 we had already paid CityWide. The second company stated that the condenser vent issue was nonsense, but that the condenser would soon need to be replaced. The second company (Douglas Heating and Air) came back twice to check and make sure things were working correctly. I refuse to allow CityWide back on my property...and of course they are the company that AHS always tries to send..which causes a big hassle getting someone here that we can trust.
Description of Work: Came twice to work on same a/c unit that was not cooling.

Our experience was EXCELLENT with regards to repair and home office interaction. Rob did the repairs and Dana was our contact at the office. Rob responded to the call that our home had recently been inspected by a home inspector who determined that the HVAC system was not working. That assessment turned out to be wrong. The unit was functioning perfectly fine but the technician performed a thorough evaluation. He noted that a wire harness, previously installed, was not completely connected and that it was missing a piece. He advised our home warranty company that the system was working and tested fine. He also advised the home warranty company of his recommendation to replace the wire harness. The home warranty company would not authorize the recommended repair. As we were closing on the house later in the day (the Citywide Tech did NOT have knowledge of any of this) we decided to go ahead and do the recommended repair at our cost. The technician, Rob, came back out and in under two hours replaced the wire harness and at our request really went over the system. He took pictures so that a record existed of the condition of the system. He spent time with my husband and I explaining in detail what had been done and why. At my husband's request he and my husband spent time at the unit so my husband could see precisely what had been done. He provided us with a written warranty and a way to reach him directly. Our experience with the technician was excellent. Our experience with the home office was also good. Dana was responsive. She returned calls promptly helped us with extra paperwork. She was kind and good natured. I read other reviews on Angie's list and was very surprised. We had an excellent experience.
Description of Work: We were selling our home and a home inspector advised that the heating/AC unit was not working. We were out of town and called our home warranty service. Citywide was the 2nd service assigned. The technician went to the house in a very expeditious manner and determined that the unit WAS working but there was a wire harness issues. A quote was given to the home warranty company for harness repair. The home warranty company refused to pay. We paid the cost personally. Citywide came out same day and did the repair.

Description of Work: My home warranty company sent this company to repair my A/C unit. Thecompany was hard to reach by phone, and the repairman was 5 hours late forthe scheduled appointment. He did make a satisfactory repair, but left withoutgiving me a receipt for the repair. He said he would email it. It's now two weeks later, still no receipt. I would not recommend this company. Note: My payment was $ 75.00.This was the deductible paid by me for the warranty home repair. I don't know what was paidto this company, by the warranty company (American Home Shield ).

Our a/c started blowing out warm air on Thursday, 6/21/12. We called the landlord who spoke with the warranty company. They recommended CityWide Heating and Cooling so that's who our landlord called. They told our landlord someone would be out on Friday, 6/22/12 between 3:00 - 6:00 pm CST. Our landlord called us about 10:00 am on Friday morning and told us the appt time. As we already had plans on Friday, we arranged them so we could be home in time for the 3:00 pm appt. We were home by 2:30 pm, well in advance of our appt time. By 4:00 pm, we had not heard from anyone at CityWide. My husband took the trash outside and when he did so, he noticed a piece of yellow tape on the garage door. It was about 2 inches wide and 1 inch high with CityWide's name and number on it and the time (2:10 pm) written on it. Now, I should also mention that at this point we had NEVER received a single call from CityWide. We checked my cell phone, my husband's cell phone and our home phone. We called the number on the ticket and the girl that answered the phone said that the guy showed up at the house and we weren't there so we missed our appt. My husband explained that we were given the time of 3:00 - 6:00 and they were there before the appt time, but she did not care. She said we should have been there and we missed them. My husband also mentioned that we never received a call and she said they tried to call and we didn't answer. He asked for the number she called and the number wasn't any of ours. She was not at all apologetic and insinuated that it was our fault for not being at home. My husband asked if someone would be coming back out that day and she said the best she could do was try to get someone out the next day, but no guarantee since it was the weekend. We had to cancel our plans to go out of town for the weekend due to the a/c not being fixed and she did not care at all. She said she would "try" to get someone out on Saturday or we could get another company. We chose to end the call after that comment. We then talked to our landlord and she called to speak with someone at CityWide. They called us on Saturday morning to say someone would be out between 10:00 am - 12:00 pm CST. It is now 11:54 am CST on Saturday and we have not seen or heard from anyone at CityWide and when I called to ask about the ETA, I got voicemail. So, needless to say, I would not recommend this company to anyone, ever. If you actually want your a/c fixed and you want good customer service and communication with the people doing the work on your a/c, please contact another company.Good luck!
Description of Work: Note: We personally did not spend anything because we are renting this home and the owner of the home / warranty company handled the expense. We've been waiting for two days, during two different appointment windows and have not had any service performed yet. See description below.

I thought that they were very good. I spent $135 on that service. The gentleman was very courteous and he explained everything in layman’s terms so I could understand what was going on. He was here for a while, but considering what he had to do, I thought he did a pretty good job in a timely manner.
Description of Work: I used Citywide Heating and Cooling yesterday to work on my air-conditioner.
