Ed's Plumbing

I called Ed because our hot water was not recovering the temperature as well as it used to. I asked Ed if one of the heating elements could have failed (there are two). He said one of the heating elements could have gone out, usually the bottom element. But he asked me how old the water heater was and I said it was 13 years old. Ed told me that it was on "borrowed time" and that the tank could possibly start leaking without notice at any time. (Note: most tanks only have a 6 yr warranty.) Ed said he would be glad to replace the heating element (about $200), but I may need a new tank soon anyway. I decided on replacing my old tank. Ed came out with his assistant the next morning and did the job. When he drained the tank, there was brown water and "gunk" that came out, an indication the tank was deteriorating internally. Ed replaced the tank with a new 50 gal higher efficiency tank in about 1 1/4 hrs, cleaned up everything, and hauled off the old tank. He was very professional, reasonably priced and punctual. I have used Ed's Plumbing before and will use him again when needed. I feel that he possibly prevented me from having to deal with a water emergency in the future by presenting me with the facts now and letting me make the decision.

I was extremely pleased with their speedy work, promptness and professionalism. When Ed shows up, he has a truck full of tools, technology and parts, and is ready to work. He waited on the weather so as not to tear up my yard with the backhoe. I cant say enough about the good service that i received from Eds Plumbing.

I called Mr. Flewelling with a lack of water pressure in our house. He came to the house the same day to assess the work needed and give us an estimate.He came back within 1-2 days to install the pressure valve and change some water line at the valve which was located behind a panel in our den. He increased our water temperature on our hot water heater at this time too. While he was at our house, I asked if he would look at our water softer because it had not worked the way I thought it should since it was installed 2-3 years ago. Mr. Flewelling said it wasn't working because the softener was not hooked up to the water lines on everything that was in the lower end of the house which included our kitchen, laundry, main bath, 1/2 bath, and probably our master bath. Essentially the whole house because the main line was not hooked up correctly. He said that our ceiling in our den would have to be demolished to get to the water lines to hook up our water softener properly. This would be a big, messy job. He assessed the water lines in our garage and outside, and decided that he could re-route the water lines from the main water supply through our front porch into our space under the stairs and into our garage to hook up our water softener properly. By doing this our ceilings would not need to be torn down (which we had opted not to do anyway). He came back with his backhoe the following week. Mr. Flewelling and his helper, Diego, was very professional, friendly, and neat. They dug up our yard with the backhoe, replaced the old PVC pipe with higher quality flexible pipe. This work of digging and filling the dirt back in was done very neatly. When entering our home Diego took off his muddy boots and wore clean shoes in the house. While doing all this work, Mr. Flewelling also relocated the new pressure valve he had previously installed in our den to our garage, so everything is in our garage. This made everything a lot easier to access. We can now close up the panel in our den. He also added a new outside spigot with cut off valve in the garage, and a cut off valve to the existing outside spigot. A cut off valve was put on the main line in the garage so we could turn off all the water to the house from the garage. My water softener is working now. Mr. Flewelling worked efficiently, was knowledgeable, and helpful . We were pleased with all the work done, the timeliness, and cost of the jobs. We would definitely use Ed's Plumbing in the future and highly recommend them.

I'm writing this report two years later, because I just can't understand why Ed just didn't look into the toilet tank. The problem would have been evident. It would have saved us over $1,000 and an insurance claim--along with a lot of headache of rebuilding our bathroom. Two years ago, I went to the bathroom in the middle of the night only to find a pool of water on the floor. I checked Angie's List, and found that Ed's Plumbing had great reviews. I told him that we were leaving on vacation in about a week, and really needed someone to check it out. He suggested that we not use the toilet, turn it off, and he would come by before we left. The day before we left for a long vacation, Ed came by. He checked things out and said something was loose on the bottom of the tank. He tightened it. The next morning, we left on vacation. We came back, two weeks later, to a flood on the bathroom floor. It ended up being an insurance claim. It was a very stressful time for us. It cost us a $1,000 copayment, and raised our homeowner insurance rates! It was very helpful of Ed to make a special trip to install the toilet; the insurance didn't end up paying him for the special trip. But when we learned that the cause of the whole problem WAS THAT THE TOILET OVERFLOW VALVE WAS UP TOO HIGH, we were really angry. All that Ed had to to was look into the tank and he would have solved the problem.

Ed's Plumbing did a fantastic job. Ed came out looked at the work we wanted done and gave us an estimate. We felt the amount was reasonable for the amount of work we needed done. We scheduled an appointment for July 3rd. They were right on time and went right to work. One by one they completed each job and moved on to the next. All work was done professionally and with hardly any mess at all. This was our 1st experience with an outside plumber and it was great. Ed took the time to explain each job they did and why the work needed to be done. We will definitely use Ed's Plumbing again.

After weeks of trying to determine what was going on in our basement, we discovered the drainage pipe from the kitchen was leaking (as noted by water on our patio). We called Ed and he was quick to respond to come look at the problem. in trying to find the exact location, Ed and his associate had to cut a hole in the patio and discovered the leak was actually under the concrete slab IN the house. They took great care to protect our furnishings as they cut into the floor. and poured new concrete in both areas once completed. This fix also required they reroute the pipe to septic system (backhoe work). The yard was leveled and neat and all of the 'messes' from the work process were cleaned. Would recommend Ed for any job. The entire job spanned a couple of days due to the complexity and need to determine how to best manage the problem. Ed kept us informed, was always here when he said he would be and made sure they took care of the surroundings - both inside and out. We will be calling him back when it is time to tap on to city sewer.

Ed and his helper ( I can't remember his name) were both professional and quick, explaining everything they were doing. We will definitely use Ed's again.

We were amazed at how quick Ed was able to respond and fix the problem. We only had minimal disruption of water service. When Lowe's couldn't supply the parts needed, Ed called a wholesale supplies who had the parts ready for me to pickup in minutes. Ed provided very professional service and we will definitely use him again when needed.

We have a house built in 1958 on a concrete slab. Ed responded to our telephone call immediately. Explained he would be there (the day we called him) and take care of it for us. The commode in the guest bathroom stopped up and sewage backed up into the floor from the commode, sink, and tub. It was...awful! My husband did everything he could, but to no avail. It simply would not unclog. Ed arrived as he promised, assessed the situation, and began working on it. Unfortunately, the builder of our home installed a "T" drainage line on the guest and master bathrooms instead of a "Y" drainage line. No clean out access was really identifiable, either. Ed had to take a steel rid and try to no only find the clean out access, but the line as well. We have a separate, fully functional mother-in-law's wing, as well. The line that should have gone into our bathrooms went to my mother-in-law's, as did the clean out access, which verified we had no clean out access to the main part of the house. The line to our house could not be found easily. Ed worked through day one and had to bring his backhoe on day two to find the line. Still, the problem went back to the T-line. As a last resortbefore Ed brought out the jackhammer, he decided to try to access the blockage from a vent pipe on the roof. He was successful. The clog was hit with the snake, and released! I never thought the whooshing sound of running poo could sound soooo good! Long story short, Ed worked through this terrible skims l ordeal and was successfully able to unclog the blockage without using the jackhammer. Thank God and thank Ed. Ed was professional, ethical, and committed. He had professional tools he used throughout the project, including but not limited to a camera, snake, backhoe, etc. Ed and his helper ensued their soiled and muddy footwear were removed peyote to entering the house each and every time, which were multiple times. He made sure all of my appliances were working before ending the job, e.g., commodes, washer, sinks, etc. I can't say how thankful we are to have found Ed. He literally saved us tens of thousands of dollars. Without any doubt, Ed IS the best.

Everything went very well and they even cleaned up the mess from tearing out the old pipes.

Water line - Ed came out and gave a complete quote. He was able to work with me on different way to accomplish the project. Later my sump pump burned out because the outside discharge line had frozen. Ed diagnosed the problem and replaced the sump pump and the water heater. Very professional.

Scheduled the work, and a day or so before Ed called to reschedule for a subsequent day because bad weather was forecast for the original date. He gave us the option to pick the day and he was agreeable to the reschedule day we picked. On that day he showed up on time, did the work just as he put in his proposal in the time estimated for it, and tendered a bill for what he said it would cost - no changes, last minute add-ons, or overruns. Just like you'd want a job to go.

I called this plumbing service on Thanksgiving weekend when my water heater caught on fire. Within two hours he was at my home, removed and discarded old water heater and replaced with a new one he picked up before coming to my home. He also fixed a water pipe leak in my shower. Great job, fast and efficient and super friendly.

I have a sewer line that needs reworked. He said it would be a two hour job. He was nice. He showed me how to do it if I wanted to do it myself. He was real helpful.

Ed and his helper are the greatest. On time, worked hard, and did the job right. They arrived the day scheduled, and immediately went to work as we had agreed upon in our initial meeting. Using his backhoe, dug a new trench from the house to the water meter. Installed a 1" pex line and replaced old hardware used in my old system. Upon completion of his inspection and testing, covered the trench back up and smoothed the dirt out to the current elevation of the yard. Not that new grass will be required, but the trench was prepared for me to beginning seeding. This complete operation was accomplished in less that a day, exactly as planned and exactly as priced. I was impressed with the expertise and professionalism of both individuals and their approach to getting the job done. Not a wasted moment. I heartly recommend Ed's Plumbing, LLC. to all, and will use his services again when I need a plumber. bath ok, 1 of 2 leaks in basement still leaks, hot and cold replumb almost set floor on fire.

I live in Knoxville and needed a plumber to repair a leaking spigot for my mother who lives in Kingsport...on a hill with a very long drive covered in ice and snow. She is 87 and had been bailing buckets of water and we needed someone to assist asap. Ed was full for the day from other calls and knew he would not be able to get there so he was nice enought to direct my call to a competitor who was not on Angies list. Jaime Macay - plumber in Kingsport. He took care of my mom's leak that day . Luckily he had a 4 wheel drive to get up her driveway. I can't say enought about Ed Plumbing and his kindness and based on that alone will most likely use him again if we need plumbing issues fixed in Kingsport. The plumber he directed my call to Jaime Macay , went above and beyond with concern for my mom and her situation. Fixed her right up in minutes flat with professionalism and a great spirit. 5 stars for Ed's plumbing and Jaime Macay!

Just said what he did and I would give him an A Plus. Explained what he would do and why. Was always on time and kept us informed as he worked. I feel confident knowing I can call on Ed again.

My wife contacted Ed to get a quote on replacing our water line the week prior to when the job was completed. He came out very promptly, quickly gave us a quote and we agreed to a date when the work would be completed the following week. We needed to replace our water line which runs through a pretty good sized yard and through several large trees at the base of our yard. We had previously contacted Steve Huff plumbing to come out and give us a quote on the same job. Steve Huff quoted us nearly $7000 for the same job that Ed quoted us $2775 for. At less than half the cost the choice to go with Ed was pretty easy. Steve Huff also said that it would take 2-3 days to complete the job while Ed completed it in less than one full day. They arrived at the time they indicated and got to work right away. Ed and his co-worker Diego are both a pleasure to deal with and they completed the work very quickly. I am quite used to holding the hand of many service people that we have had to work with, this was not the case at all with Ed. He knew exactly what he was doing and I was able to relax and just let them complete their work. The job was completed exactly as we talked about, no surprises. Ed even patiently dealt with a nosy neighbor who has been difficult for us in the past when working with contractors, etc. I cant recommend his service enough, we have found a new plumber who we will use for all of our future work. Ed is professional, courteous and a pleasure to work with.

I called Ed this morning, and he was able to come out today. He installed the new disposal in short order. I also had a very slow drip in a bathroom faucet, with a very complicated access to the cartridge that had the gaskets inside. He opened it up, took a picture of the cartridge, and will call me to let me know what to buy for replacements in all the bathrooms. He did all this even though he is leaving on vacation tomorrow morning. Aces for responsiveness, professionalism and reasonable prices! Enjoy your vacation Ed!

Everything went great. Ed called me and said he was on his way to my house to complete the work I needed done. Ed arrived on time and completed the job in a timely manner. I was very happy with the work , and Ed cleaned up all the mess that was made. He said to check on the work later in the day to see if I had any leaks. He said he would come back by and tighten any fitting if their were to be any leaks. I was very happy with the completed job and will use Ed's Plumbing in the future for all my plumbing needs.

Ed and team were very helpful, punctual, responsive, and professional. I felt the price was very reasonable.
