Window Depot of Chattanooga

I spent 4,000 dollars on 4 windows from Window Depot. 2 of the window seals started leaking within 6 months. I contacted the company, and the owners son assured me that the windows would be replaced. He told me it would be a simple fix, as the glass can just be popped out and replaced. The frame they installed around the window has also lost most of the caulking they attached it with. It bangs against the house on windy days. Since December of 2022, I have been waiting for them to repair these things. Everytime I call the office I am given a different excuse. I have been told the installer was "sick." I have been told that I need to send a photo of the sticker on the window. ( I was told this AFTER the owners son had already come to my house and looked at the windows and informed me that the glass would be replaced.) I have been told for the past 5 months that the installer would contact me, and I have heard nothing. These people are liars and crooks. I would give zero stars if I could!

Job was well done and follow up was good.

I contacted Window Depot for a quote on replacing 8-9 windows in our home. The gentleman answering the phone said his salesman was out of town and he wasn't sure when he would be back, but probably a couple of days..Three days later a guy (salesman?) called and said he would be in my neighborhood and could he come by to give me a quote. I told him I would be home no later than 3PM. He said he would call and come by at 3:30. I waited for a call and never heard from him, not that day or any other day. I purchased 14 windows from someone else.

The windows and slider are great. The double panes keep the cold weather out. They sent workers in before we moved in. I was surprised when I got there Septemer 14 and saw the mess in the house I had just purchased. Someone had poured paint down my new kitchen sink and it had dried there. Dust was everywhere. The window that had been cut out was not finished properly - plaster not sanded smooth nor was it flush with the wall. My husband said to just pay them and get them out of our house and he would finish the window as it should be finished. There was a problem since they had not ordered the slider with our original order. Once I found my receipt I called and pointed out where their order included the slider so one was order. Unfortunately, it was the wrong size so another order was done. They would call saying they were headed to our house to do something and would not show. It was a very frustrating experience. We also had to replace a toilet in one bath since one of the workers had moved it while installing a window! Again, the windows are good quality but the workers need more supervision!

The final product looks very nice and functions well. However, it was a bit difficult getting to this point. Communication between the sales team and the owner is poor to say the least. We were told how things would unfold by Zach (sales) and in actuality none of it went the way he said. I was never called and told when the installers would arrive and had someone show up at our house to work unannounced on 3 occasions. The subcontractor who was hired to repair the window frame left a large pile of debris, broken glass, and siding in our back yard where our dog plays. He finished up for the day and said, "Sorry, I'm going to have to leave all that for the window installers because I don't have a truck". The next day when I asked the window installers to clean it up they acted as if it were somehow my fault that it was there and not really their responsibility. They did clean up the major pieces but after they left I had to pick a box full of broken glass, insulation, siding, nails and other debris that was left right in the path where our dog runs. Fred (owner) made every effort to correct all the mistakes and make everything right. But it's unfortunate because it all could have been avoided from the beginning if someone had simply called us (like Zach told us they would) and came out to go over the work that would be done on the wall/window frame rebuild (as Zack told us they would). And if someone had called before they showed up to do the work. And someone called to say they were coming to Install the windows (as Beau the subcontractor assured us they would). Basically, poor communication made this a pretty big hassle. Which is too bad because the product looks very nice and we really liked Fred and Zach both.

Fred at Window Depot handled all of the particulars for me. I was out Of town so Fred went over to my house and worked with my renters to measure the windows that needed replacing, order and replace them. He advised me about the Rebate Plan that EPB has on replacing windows so I was able to save $500.

Window Depot was recommended to me by a friend who is in the construction/remodeling business. Fred Goldberg was pleasant, professional, and courteous. I did, however, only deal with him over the phone, and I found it slightly odd that while the 4 other window companies (from whom I obtained bids) all sent out a salesman promptly to our house, Window Depot did not. I had to push for that to happen. After all, I wanted to see and touch the merchandise -- which in the end impressed me as a quality product. One part of the deal was to replace a 9 ft. triple slider aluminum door with doors in vinyl or metal, with sidelights, or similar. We discussed a number of options, and I proposed 4 alternative designs. Fred was very responsive in returning bids for each. When down to best-n-final bidding, I wanted to make sure everyone was on the same page about where the active door was, and the direction in which it opened. The rep who came to the house assured me that my proposal was do-able. I was about to sign a contract, when Fred called to say the factory said my proposal was not, after all, do-able. My wife and I decided to postpone the door work, and just stick with replacement window work. I appreciate Fred's honesty in saying my door proposal wouldn't fly. But since we'd been going around on this for a couple of weeks, it bothered me that the factory had not been consulted earlier so that our discussions could center on what was truly do-able. That put me off just enough that I awarded the window work to another company. If my experience with the provider we eventually went with turns out to be so-so or worse, I would have no qualms about getting a bid from Fred and Window Depot for the windows we intend to replace next summer. On balance, they have a quality product and seem to be good folks. I would just have someone come out to the house from the get-go.

Work went very well. They windows arrived on time and were installed soon thereafter on time and within budget.

It went well I was happy with the work performed and the price paid.
