We used Scott's for about 3 years and they did a decent job. We moved into a new house last fall and just didn't start the service up again because of the time of the year...and then time just got away from us. Last week one of their salesmen stopped in front of our house while I was letting our dogs out real quick before we sat down to eat dinner. He did not start with the customary "Mam, is this a good time?". He jumped out of the car and just started talking. I cut him off and told him I was about to eat dinner and was just taking a second to deal with my dogs. Well the guy proceeded to bite my head off!! He threw his hands up in the air and yelled "Well I'm SORRY!!!!!" Which he obviously didn't mean. I said again "I've got dinner on the table" and he said something else with an angry tone that I can't even remember. I was fuming when I walked back into the house and I told my husband what happened. My husband called Tru-Green first thing the next day and that's who we are using now. They got here very quickly and we discovered there pricing is much better. That was not the first time we have encountered pushy salesmen with Scott's. We don't want Scott's to set foot on our property again. Why on earth would we give money to a business that is going to treat potential customers like that.

I would not recommend them. The grass was fine and evidently one time they sprayed the wrong product on the grass and it died. I called them and told them. They did not apologize and they didn't make it up to me. It seemed like they didn't even care so I quit them. I could see exactly where he put the stuff and that was exactly where it died so I know he put the wrong stuff down. I had used them for 2 years. That was the only problem I had with them. The quality of the service was okay until the last problem. They were not responsive; they could have cared less. They were good until that day. I talked to the district manager and he didn't even say thank you or that he would come and look at it. There is no way I would use them again.

The people I talked to were very nice and friendly, but they were never able to get someone out to talk to me and inspect it. They send someone out who did a treatment on my yard. I called and said that I would pay for the treatment, but that I wanted an inspector to come over to look at my lawn before any treatment was performed. They tried scheduling another treatment, so it took me several calls to get them to listen to what I wanted. Then they scheduled an inspector to come out when I had already told them that I would be out of town. We managed to set a time, but the guy never showed up. Instead, another treatment was performed without my authorization. I called and said I would not pay for that treatment and that I was very upset that they weren't doing what I asked. The lady that I talked to said she doesn't know why it was going wrong and assured me that I would not pay for the last unauthorized treatment. I STILL received a bill and had to call to tell them that they obviously have a huge problem with their communications and I did not want to use them ever again. I was also bothered that the office wasn't local, and I was never able to talk to a local person. I specifically asked to speak to an area supervisor, but no one ever contacted me.

Weeds in lawn were worse after treatment. I called 10 after service and reported but no one returned my call or came to my house. I called 5 days later and someone returned my call but said I had to call them withing 1-2 weeks for them to re=treat my lawn. The man was very rude. I then looked on BBB's website and saw they had over 700 complaints in the Chattanooga, TN area. The treatment was supposed to be guaranteed to get rid of the weeds but the warranty was worthless.

Scott's was doing our neighbor's yard and I approached him about doing our yard. He immediately signed us up and applied the first application of weed killer. They have returned for follow-up applications as scheduled. I stopped the service for a short time in order to apply new grass seed (to prevent weed killer from killing new grass seed). Recently contacted Scott's to now continue with their program (fertilize), now that the new grass seed is down. They are very helpful and professional.

I have been using Scotts Lawnservice for about two years. The results are much better than the company I used before. They are more consistent and are a slight bit less expensive. Their automatic billing is great. I have not had any problems with them.
