The technicians called when they were on their way. They came within the timeframe as expected. It was a huge job that took almost 8 hours to complete. The technicians Jamil & Lino were very professional and courteous. We were extremely satisfied with the overall proposal provided by Reliable and the work completed by the technicians. I would strongly recommend this company to anyone looking for this service.

Reliable serviced my 5yr old upstairs unit in August. The coils were leaking and needed replaced for $1,700. The parts were on backorder, so Reliable recharged the unit at a discount. The unit was blowing very cold air on the recharge. However, after Reliable replaced the coils, the unit would only blow ?cool? air (not cold) and ran noticeably louder. The unit had no trouble keeping up with the August heat before the service call and could not keep up with the afternoon heat after the service call. I called Reliable within the 30 day warranty window, they determined the compressor that was working great before the repair needed to be replaced for an additional $1700 ($3,400 total). They argue that the strain on the compressor from freezing up in the past damaged it, even though it showed no signs of damage before the service call. I contend that the unit was not left in good working order after the service call and that the compressor working before the service call was not working properly after. Reliable adamantly denies (see BBB) that their service call had anything to do with the compressor failure. I believe it is far to big a coincidence that it happened at the exact time of the service call. Reliable left me without working air after a $1700 repair and wanted $1700 more to make it work (I ultimately went with another company who even did the repair for less) . My experience is that Reliable will not stand behind the entire scope of their work, leaving this customer very unsatisfied. If you are in the market for Heating/Air service, please let my disappointing experience with Reliable encourage you to choose a more reputable company that places a premium on customer satisfaction.
Description of Work: Replaced coils on upstairs unit, but did not leave it in good working order.

We had been having trouble with our 9 yr old heat pump which would blow air but not cold air since the end of April this year. My daughter was friends with a couple of guys who were HVAC certified and looking to branch off from the outfit they were currently working under and offered to give us a good deal for word of mouth recommendations to get them started. The first thing they replaced was the TXV which seemed to fix the problem for a little while then in May and June it did the same thing, both times they said it was the compressor which would last 5 days, 5 months or 5 years, they had no idea. A hard start kit was placed in early June before we had the same problem at the end of the month. I called Reliable since they have free second opinions just to be sure, the technician came out and started looking at our system then asked for the history of problems. When I began explaining and got to the part about the TXV being replaced (I could not remember the exact sequence of letters) I think I said TZV or TJX, the technician looked at me like I had 3 heads and had no clue what I could possibly be talking about. Seeing that I work in a field that uses acronyms that are not used in other areas I find that hard to believe, I know right away what my customers are talking about even if they don't get the letters exactly right. He just came across like a huge d*****. He looked at the unit and finally said "what are you looking to do?". I had already explained the compressor issue to him, but again told him I was looking for a second opinion on the compressor and if that was messed up what would parts and labor cost to replace it. He just scoffed and said that a unit this old most people replace. He once again came in the house and asked what my plans were and how were we to proceed. I informed him I only wanted the free second opinion right now to which he replied they didn't do free second opinions! He reiterated he wasn't aware of Reliable offering free second opinions and I had to pull up his company's own website to show him plainly that yes second opinions were free and that whoever I talked to in the office was fully aware that was what I wanted! He quickly changed his condescending attitude and began to look at our unit in earnest apologizing saying that he was the technician in sales not a technician for second opinions or repairs. The unit did come back on and work correctly and he did redeem himself a little by hanging some wires in the unit out of the way. Needless to say we did not use Reliable when this issue happened again last week and went with Malone who replaced our compressor parts (the compressor was still under warranty!!) and labor cheaper than my daughter's friends offered. They also offered a free second opinion and the technician did not act like I was an idiot nor did he try to sell me a new unit, he gave me the pros and cons of replacing the compressor vs. purchasing and installing a new unit and let me decide no pressure either way. It did take a week for the part to come in, but it was installed the day it arrived with no issues.
Description of Work: Free second estimate.

The technician visited my home and determined that my air handler was frozen from a possible freon leak - something that I had already determined just by looking at the block of ice my unit sat in. While I agreed to the service charges for the visit today, the company wished to charge me again for another visit in the future to actually diagnose the problem. Nothing was done that could not have been done with a few simple questions over the phone, had they bothered to ask me, "What seems to be the issue?" I paid $64 for someone to tell me that the unit was frozen, and continuing with their services was going to incur another $40 service charge to actually diagnose the problem. I have elected to do business with a company that will not charge me unreasonable service charges and I don't plan on doing business with Reliable again.
Description of Work: Examined the crawlspace air-handler, determined it needed to thaw before any work could proceed, and wanted to charge a service fee for the return trip to address the issue.

Initially when the gentleman came out he was friendly, but I started asking him some questions and he got rather rude, he snapped back at me saying that it takes two years to learn the information I was attempting to understand. The contractor noted to his company in the notes of my receipt that I was not looking to replace the wet switch, which he never confirmed with me. I put in with the manager to call me to schedule additional repairs on Monday, he did not call so I called them and he was also rude to me over the phone. He told me that my wet switch replacement was not covered by warranty with the company I purchased from, I explained that I thought it might be and asked if we could check to verify but the gentleman refused and kept insisting it not covered without checking.

We've been happy with them. We've used them ever since we moved in this house, a couple of years ago. Last year, there was an issue with a part. A lot of it was covered under our contract, so it wasn't a big extra cost. I think we just paid for the extra parts, but not the labor. I like the value that we've gotten from the annual contract and the peace of mind.
Description of Work: We have a contract with them for the Spring and the Fall, to look at heating and furnace and all that stuff. It costs us $300 a year.

I called them told them what the problem was. I had a hole in the drain line. The service man came out and didn't have anything to fix it with and said the company would call back and give me a price to fix it. They called back today 5/12/14 with a price of $191.00 I fixed it for under $20.00 this past weekend. I wasn't about to pay another service call. I will call someone else if I have any more problems.

I have never had someone outright lie to me; which is what these people did. They told me that there was absolutely no coolant in the A/C at all, and that there must be a leak in the system somewhere. They gave me several things that I could do: 1. They could put freon & dye into the unit, which would cost $647.67. Later checking to see where the dye shows the leak to be.; but I would later have to remove the dye & freon and put new freon in, which would cost about the same amount. 2. With my unit being 10 yrs. old, it might be better to replace it with a Maytag unit for $3,650.00. I told them I would have to check with my son and that I would get back to them. I never got back to them; but I intend to tell them what I think of them with their lying to me & trying to build up a big bill and even try to sell me a new unit. My neighbor had a long-time A/C person & she gave me his name & number (company name and info removed) & I called him & he came out within 30 minutes. He went outside to check the unit & then asked me to come outside. He showed me an electrical cabinet on the wall close to the A/C & he asked if I had been in the cabinet. I told him no & he said that the manual switch inside was turned to OFF when it should have been ON. I don't know if one of the lawn maintenance people had turned it off or what. 1. He turned the switch to ON. 2. He told me he "topped off" the freon (which means it was NOT completely empty as I was told by Reliable). 3. He was here only 1/2 hour & the charge was only $119.00 for the service call and the freon (which is expensive.) 4. He is a reputable contractor and did NOT lie to me and the A/C has been working perfectly ever since he came.

Response from Reliable Heating & A/C
Well this is certainly a disturbing review...I spoke to [member name removed] this am (5/12/14) in an attempt to revisit the jobsite with the technician who made the incorrect diagnosis. [member name removed] is very upset with us (and I do not blame her) and she does NOT want us back out there, even on a discovery mission to see what went wrong, why my technician would make an incorrect diagnosis... She stated that the follow up call by the other company has the unit working good now, that they did have to add a small amount of freon...I am baffled as to why my tech said that it was completely out of freon, and I will have a meeting with that tech and his service manager this afternoon to try and get to the bottom of this ASAP. My sincere apologies to [member name removed] again, our name and reputation are the most valuable assets that we have, and this type of call simply cannot and will not be tolerated. We had just purchased this home and various contractors came in to check, improve or repair the house. One contractor noticed that a portion of the duct had come off the main duct under the house, so I called Reliable from Angie's list. Corbin Timmerman, the Shop Foreman, came out and checked everything, letting us know that an animal had gotten in there and had also done some other damage that needed repair, including tearing and dislodging insulation. He was very pleasant and patiently explained what he had done and what needed repair when we were ready to move forward. We were in the process of moving to the area from another part of the country, and were on a tight schedule. Corbin arranged for the technicians to come out to the house to do the job before we had to go. Chad and Tommy got to work right away and found that the entire duct system was filthy. They sent pics to our cell phones, so we decided to do an entire duct cleaning. The problem was that this happened on a Friday. We were supposed to leave Saturday morning, and in order to do the job, the men would have to work past the end of their regularly scheduled day. With Corbin's approval, the men agreed that they would stay and complete the job. Chad and Tommy were thorough and meticulous, and worked systematically until everything was completed. They cleaned up after themselves and helped us lock 2 entry points so the critters couldn't get back under the house to do more damage. We would have them back again for any work that might be needed in the future and highly recommend Reliable for your AC/Heating needs.

I used a company that will remain nameless prior to Reliable. They charged me a bunch of money and never gave me a diagnosis, then would not return my calls. I found Reliable on Angies list and gave them a call. They came out very quickly and Richie, the tech, was very friendly and found the problem very quickly. He was very knowledgeable and explained the system and how it operates, as this is a new house to me. He explained what he was going to do, and stayed to make sure everything was working properly. He also gave me a few tips to save money on my power bill. I will only use Reliable from now on. I HIGHLY recommend them! They saved me tons of time and money.

I needed my A/C serviced and called Reliable. The technician y system a good cleaning and added freon. He also found a connector that was starting to go bad and replaced it. I also opted for a booster for my compressor that is about 10 years old. Hopefully this will extend the life of my compressor and save $ in the long run. The technician was courteous and did a good job.

All went smashingly! Our power bill is cut in half, and our house is much more comfortable; before, the AC ran all day long and we still struggled to keep the place down to 78-80 degrees ... now it works like a charm, and we're all much more comfortable. The team was punctual, professional, and kind to the dog (and considerate of the cat). Two thumbs up!

I called Reliable when my old unit froze up and was not cooling as it should when running. I was told, when I called, the tech would be out the next day and gave an estimate time and he came sooner than I thought he would. He told me the problem and what my options were. The old cooling coil was old and dirty and I had a bad coolant leak.I told him I would need an estimate on a new A/C unit and Reliable called me later on in the day with an estimate. the installers, justin and dan, showed up on the date I was told and on time and did an excellent job.they cleaned up any dirt and debri that was laying around. some additional work had to be done for the new air intake vent, which took a little longer, but at no additional cost. these guys were very friendly and respectable and answered any questions that I had. the estimate I was given was the same after the work was completed.I will continue to call them again when routine service is required and if any problems arise.
