Clay Henley is an awesome, trustworthy, and honest person to deal with. The finished work was excellent! He is a man of his word. Did everything without a written contract and we were absolutely satisfied. He provided a detailed bill and we feel his charge for the painting was fair for the time spent and quality received. His workers were polite and trustworthy. We highly recommend him and would be very happy to use him again. A pleasure to deal with.

Excellent work Clay Henley can be trusted to do what he says he will at a price that is fair. It was a pleasure dealing with him and his workers who were very polite and trustworthy. I highly recommend him and would not hesitate to work with him on any project large or small!

Henley Brothers sent one master carpenter and 3 young, unskilled workers to assist the carpenter to apply the siding, trim and build the deck. The work was poorly done and the architect had to be hired to return to inspect the work and give a "professional" opinion about rework needed. The architect's report was a 14 page, single spaced, list of errors and omissions, failures to adhere to the drawings and specifications and incidents of shoddy workmanship. Rather than make the necessary corrections, Mr. Henley walked off the job after having been paid all but $19,000.00 of the $90,000.00 contracted price. The painters did not use the specified paint, substituting instead another brand. The contract and specifications were for primer and two coats of paint. The painting was never completed, although the paint subcontractor insisted that "his job was done." The paint manufacturer sent a regional representative to measure the paint thickness of the painted surfaces. He reported the results did not show that a primer and two coats of finish paint had been applied, with some surfaces only having 1 coat of primer and no finish paint. He also indicated that the specified paint probably had not been used. We had to hire another painter to rectify the painting at a cost of $6,000 to us. Rather than order the wood trim for the deck as specified by the architectural drawings, Mr. Henley substituted a readily available trim that was too large, causing it to be exposed to weather and the trim rotted within 18 months. We have had to replace it. We cannot correct the twisted columns beneath the deck without tearing down the entire deck and removing 2' X2' X 4' concrete pillars that support them. The decking material, Ipe, was cut crooked all along the outer perimeter and cut too short in some places, so that it cannot be corrected without replacing this expensive decking material. The railing was not built according to the architect's drawings and specifications and it was installed crooked. Sections of the bottom rail rotted within 3 years. The siding was not installed in accordance with manufacturer's specifications for exposure and the finish & it deteriorated 10 years earlier than the warrantied period. This manufacturer did stand behind the product's finish and complied with their stated warranty by supplying stain to have it recoated. The gutter subcontractor Mr. Henley hired broke roofing shingles along the edge of the roof while installing the gutters and downspouts. Neither the subcontractor nor Mr. Henley would assume responsibility for the damage caused to the roof. Two years later, the gutter installer was out of business. The entire job is substandard, resulting in our having to spend tens of thousands of dollars having the work corrected. We cannot recommend Henley Brothers.
