I've used Grogreen for many years but the past year or so have not been good. I called someone out to talk with me about how to get rid of the Johnson grass that was all over my yard and his response was, "well, that has to be treated in the fall." They did not, because the next spring, it was everywhere. I treated it myself! I called someone out again because my yard was still full of weeds. They were going to send someone out to take a look. Never happened. Now I have received a bill for $238.50! I've always paid on time. But, I paid them in November & twice in February. I'm so fed up with them and my yard looks worse than ever. I will be looking for someone else immediately.

The company was not responsive to questions, they did not communicate reasons for certain treatments. When asked questions the office person and those behind the counter were not exactly understanding or helpful. I ended services when I called and asked a simple question after they aerated and seeded. "Did you use starter fertilizer?" "no because you did not ask and that is an uncharge". Bad answer at so many levels. So ..I bought starter fertilizer and some straw ( 3 bales as they killed most of lawn and it was mud and the seed they laid was washing away) and spread another bad and half (large ones) of fescue. Now it is just starting to pop. Lesson learned for sure.

I know this is long but I think you will find it well worth the read. We had just fired a National Service for considerable damage to our lawn after being treated for crabgrass and fungus. We reached out to GroGreen and met with Roman. He came out, looked at all the damage to our lawn and was advised about the previous treatments. He assured us that he could fix the lawn and get rid of the all the crabgrass and fungus and get the grass growing again. He promised we would have a beautiful lawn again. This was important to us as our house was for sale and curb appeal in an exclusive neighborhood is critical. After one treatment, the lawn was worse than ever. Almost all the grass is killed off and the only green in our fully sodded lawn is now crabgrass…the rest is brown and dead. We reached out to Roman after 1 week and asked him to come back out. It took him two more weeks before he finally arrived to look at the lawn and said that he would make it right. Every week we called and every week he promised the technician would come out and start working to fix what was left of our lawn. After 6 weeks of broken promises, we fired this company and are now trying to repair the damage ourselves. What is incredible is that Roman blames everyone else. He blamed the technician for not coming out when he is told, he then tried to blame our lawnmower for killing off the grass…said the blades on the brand new mower were not sharp enough or then blamed us by stating we were over-watering at 3 times a week at about 15 minutes per zone. We got the blades sharpened, cut down on watering and the grass still died. It is unfortunate that this company will not take responsibility or ownership for their work…bottom line is that they did just what the National Service did – they either did not use the correct product or they over/under treated the lawn. They say they stand by their work and will come back out to fix it but then NEVER show up. The shear fact that they ignore all the negative reviews posted about them and don’t try to make it right should tell you something. There is no communication from them – you will be initiating all the communication. When you do get to speak to them, they continue to make promises that they have no intention of keeping. We wish we would have seen all the negative Google reviews before we hired this company. Please pay attention to the bad reviews! Based on our experience, not one of the bad reviews are an exaggeration. In the end, we paid them a lot of money for GroGreen to come in and kill off what little grass remained in our lawn. We are now faced with the prospect of scraping all dead sod off our .5+ acre property and re-sod. UPDATE: To add insult to injury...This company had the audacity to actually send a bill saying we didn't pay them enough to kill our yard! I struggle to comprehend the tactics...kill your yard, make repeated promises to come back out and repair the damage, make dozens of excuses and NEVER show up...then send a bill! Next stop...BBB! And, like the other review, I wonder if they will send me to a collection agency for the $15.50 they say we still owe them for killing off our yard!

Great! If I notice weeds popping up, or any issues, I call and they take care of it. Neighbors occasionally ask who does our lawn service.
Description of Work: GroGreen reseeds and aerates our lawn annually. They also handle our fertilization, weedkillers, any fungus issues for the lawn and shrubbery. They have provided these services for us since 2011.

I was made aware of this issue when a bill arrived a few months after the alleged service date. A phone call then was answered by Drew. I asked about the billing, told him about the un-returned calls to discuss the past service performance, the lack of authorization for 2014 and the missing evidence of actual service work. He indicated the issue would be resolved by removing the billing attempt. No further treatments were claimed or billed, no further mailings received until... A letter from a 3rd party (collection agency) arrived Aug. 1 2014 requesting payment. A call to Grogreen was answered by Roman. His bottom line answer was no resolution was possible except payment of the claimed $49 - otherwise a collection item would eventually be reported. Is this the kind of organization you want to employ?
Description of Work: Grogreen billed for service not authorized this year and questionably provided. They had a prior year (2013) contract but did not return my calls to discuss the account in early 2014. They claim that one service was performed in Feb. at the home - but nothing was left (no bill, no sign posting) and no one reported seeing them. Regardless of that - I did not request, authorize or intend any 2014 services.

Response from Grogreen
[Member name removed] called during late spring and conveyed his dissatisfaction with the way his grass looked I spoke with [member name removed] and explained we were not able to contact him between August and November (prime time) to aerate and seed the lawn his response was "yes I was out of the country you should have just done it if it was needed" I replied that in the interest of good business We always call and get customers approval before doing any additional services.
