Carney's Carpet

Description of Work: We had hardwood flooring put into our living room and dining room areas. We had had carpet in those areas forever and over the many years with four cats and an aging dog with a weak bladder, the carpets were becoming an actual nuisance. We had wanted hardwood floors for some time and decided now was the time. We had previously used this company once to install hardwood flooring to a small entryway area at the front door and were impressed with them at that time, and have had no problems with that flooring which still looked very nice, so we gave them a call for this project. The company is run by Chet Carney, a retired firefighter who decided to go into business "on the side" as it were. He has no physical address or website, and gets most of his business through word-of-mouth (which is how we first became aware of him). We gave him a call and he came and looked at the area to be done and and called the person who would be doing the installing (Chris Lynn, who happened to live nearby) and he came right over and checked the area and the flooring under the carpet, and we talked of what type of flooring we wanted (wider vs thinner, color, etc. - Chet had brought samples). An estimated time of 3 days was given to do the work, which started the following Monday. Chris showed up promptly Monday morning and the work began. The work took exactly 3 days to complete, and this was dispite a unforseen problem which cropped up on the second day after the carpet had been removed from a certain section of flooring and the particle boarding underneath was found to have been damaged beyond use by the aging bladder of our dog in what was apparantly a "favorite spot" for him to use (We did let him out frequently but he was very old). This section had to be cut out and replaced. Chris went immediately to Home Depot and got the materials needed and repaired it that morning, continuing on with the job. It did not slow the job down really at all even though this was unexpected. There was an additional cost for materials and labor, but it was ENTIRELY reasonable, especially considering this was a potentially vulnerable spot for me to be in, with my flooring partially ripped up and partially put down, my furniture strewn together throughout both rooms, and I wasn't going to be able to be there after 3 days. We are VERY happy with the results now that it is done. The floors look BEAUTIFUL! The entire job was very professionally done, and both Chet and Chris are the nicest people to work with. Chris even helped us move furniture back into place after he was finished with the flooring, and he also hauled away all the considerable debris (all the old carpet, wood scraps, etc) that had accumulated on the front lawn during the process. I would certainly not hesitate to use them again in the future, and definitely recommend them without hesitation.
