B.P. Construction

Description of Work: One of the owners of this company started out doing a deck for us (Sam) while the other owner (Tracy) was out of town. Sam and his workers did a very good job on the deck and completed it in a timely fashion. They gave us an estimate for the price of remodeling two bathrooms and a basement laundry room for which they were hired. The work had a few minor issues such as cutting electrical outlets in the wrong place, not centering a bathroom light fixture properly, and a few other minor problems. Our big problem was a strong odor that we noticed throughout the house and which they said would dissipate after a day or two. We signed the paperwork and paid them since for the most part, |other than the STENCH and the fact that it took 5 months to complete rather than the promised 4 weeks they had performed without too many problems. We had also let them put a metal roof on our home and put down laminate flooring in two rooms and a hall. We had not intended on putting down laminate until one of their workers moved our refrigerator without unloading or putting the feet up, thus cutting a hole about 6 in. by 6 in. in our linoleum. They did not charge us for putting the laminate down in the kitchen where this occurred so we felt that was reasonable. |Getting back to the smell that was throughout our home and was so bad they we could not invite anyone over to our house. B & P would not come back to fix the problem. Tracy refused to talk to my wife on the telephone and became belligerent when I called. We found that B & P had not put a trap under a jacuzzi tub in our bathroom. They did finally admit this, but said there was too little room to fit this piece of equipment in. Since our Doctors told us this sewer gas could be detrimental to our health, we hired another Construction Co. to place the trap and they had to re-set both toilets in the home at which time they made another correction to the plumbing and the smell went away. |Next came a plumbing issue when the water line to the dishwasher let the dining room and kitchen's new laminate flooring flood to the point that we had to hire workers to take the floors up, dry underlayment, change the broken lines, fix two walls where the water had leached up the walls and relay NEW laminate flooring. B & P had also changed out all the piping in our home when they were working at our home. |The plumbing issues might not have have occurred had Tracy not fired his son (the designated plumber for their company) twice during their remodeling project on our home. It seems the only other plumber in the company was Tracy and he did not like to do any plumbing. |Sam told us, after the work had begun, was that a big part of the problem was because Tracy had a bad heart and could not handle ANY stress. When you |pointed out any issues where their workmanship was in question Tracy would just walk off the job. There was not a way to point out any problem without him raising his voice and saying he couldn't take it or anything that was near constructive criticism. They seemed qualified to put on roofs, but we came to find out that was mainly what type of work they performed. However, if they could not be trusted to return and correct problems they knew about, what would stop them was reneging on a roofing job as well. When we checked their references it was in the form of roofing. Later, after the job, we found that Best Buy Metal would not give them a recommendation, saying only that they sold them quite a bit of roofing!

Description of Work: Terrible contractor who would not fix problem with plumbing. Left us in terrible shape with no concern for us.

Description of Work: removed galvanized plumbing replaced with new pcpc replaced flooring, remodeled 2 baths, replaced roof with metal roofing.
