Sparkman Roofing Remodeling and Restoration

We found them at the Nashville Home Show. Everything about the project went very well. The work and the products were all of very high quality. Follow-up was good.

I chose Sparkman Remodeling to complete our remodeling project to lay wood flooring in our bonus room and install hardwood stairs leading up to the bonus room. There were a few small issues that came up during the project as with many projects, but John Sparkman was there to communicate and find a solution. The job was done right the first time and on time. I would highly recommend this company for your remodeling needs.

They were prompt, courteous, and only did the work that was necessary. I would definitely hire them again.

I filed a complaint through Angies List and Mr Sparkman responed by saying that my next door neighbor and I were trying to get a life time warranty that we were never promised. Mr Sparkman sent me a life time warranty 2 weeks later

The roof and gutter replacement and aluminum window wrap were repairs to storm damage. The painting and garage door aluminum wrap were optional services that I decided to go ahead with because of the other related work being performed. The workmanship quality varied depending on what type of work was being done. Roofing - This was by far the best part of the work performed in terms of quality and workmanship. There really is nothing like a Sparkman roof that I have seen (a lot of roofs were replaced last year due to hail damage). It looks great, the ridge vents improved the overall look of the roofline, and they paid attention to all the fine details such as matching the color of the vents etc. My one qualm is the scheduling. It seems like it took a long time to get the work scheduled, and then they kept moving the date. Then they literally gave me one days notice before they came to do the work. Gutters - The gutter installation quality was good. Unfortunately they ordered the wrong color. They showed up one night to do the installation without warning, and we were away from the house while the work was being done. When we got home it was dark, so I didnt notice the color difference until the next day. Instead of removing and replacing with the correct color, they offered to paint the gutters and cut me a good deal on painting the soffit and fascia. All in all I was satisfied with this solution but again, not happy with the scheduling aspect (suddenly turning up to do the work without notice). Aluminum wrap - This was the least satisfying part of the work. The subcontractor who did the work did not do a very good job in my opinion. They did not remove the old wrap from around the windows and opted to install the new wrap over the old wrap. The bending and forming of the wrap, and the sealing were ok but not great. They did a sloppy job of nailing the wrap. The original wrap was installed during a window installation and the nails were well hidden by the window installers. The Sparkman subcontractor made no attempt to hide the nails, so the overall finish doesnt look so great. Additionally, they installed wrap on the garage door with visible nails, and did a poor job of installing the weather strip molding over the wrap. I had to remove the weather strip molding and reinstall it myself to make it look decent. They also didnt seal it, so I had to do that as well. All in all my results were mixed. I'd have them install a roof any day. However, I would probably not use them for any other type of work on my home in the future.

I have used Sparkman Roofing Remodeling and Restoration. They completed the work in October or November. We did the estimate so it was $1300 because this was on an insurance claim. So this was our deductable and additional work that was done outside of the insurance claim. He honored that completely. That was great. We had the entire roof replaced and they did some interior work where there was some water damage, so they primed and painted where that interior damage was. Good was that the work they did was excellent. It took a little longer than I anticipated but not too bad. We did have a problem with the lead foreman on the job in that he would promise work and then wouldn't show up, but as soon as I contacted Mr. Sparkman things would be taken care of. It turns out they had to let that foreman go because he was having personal problems and letting it affect his work. So Mr. Sparkman was very good about explaining why they had some problems and making sure that things got done. While there was some issues, Mr. Sparkman took care of them and they were very easy to talk with.

After a hail storm, I contacted my insurance company (State Farm) to see if I would qualify for a roof replacement. I did, so I contacted Sparkman Roofing. In early April, Damon came out and looked at my roof and house and the estimate from my insurance company. He went back and forth with State Farm and got some more concessions from them, and the workers came out and did my roof in May. It was sometime much later in the year (August or later?) that they were able to come out and do my gutters. It was even later in the year that they finally replaced the screens on my windows (something that Damon had to convince State Farm to give me). We finally closed the job in January 2013. I noticed that another reviewer complained about how long it took to get things done. I somewhat understand that complaint, but I believe that a lot of the delays were due to Damon working with State Farm to get the best deal possible for me. I also think that Sparkman has a really good local reputation so they have a lot of work. A couple of times, crews showed up at my house rather late in the day b/c they'd been working somewhere else. Once, I had left town (it was 4 on Friday afternoon) but Sparkman was always polite and willing to work with me to reschedule. Further, they gave me an upgrade on the shingles I had to architectural shingles without charging me more, and they upgraded the gutters from the ones they were replacing for only an extra $160 (in addition to the insurance deductible). They also worked with me to reconfigure the gutters to help with the water flow around the house. Every worker that came to my house was polite and I never felt unsafe or wary of the people sent by Sparkman roofing to do work. While it did take about 10 months for the whole project to be complete, I appreciate the fact that I had my roof for months before I was asked for any money. That way, I knew the work didn't just look good (it looks great!), but it's also quality work. I would recommend Sparkman Roofing to anyone who needs work done.

I chose Sparkman roofing to replace my roof after a hail storm. I must say that they did a great job. They did the roof, gutters, and siding. If you want the job done well then pick them but expect it to be a slow process. They started in January and finished in March.

Wow, with the recent storms we were in a pickle because our we were closing on our house in two weeks. John, Debbie, and Jason were responsive to our needs. They are very professional and quick to answer my questions. The roof looks great. They did a thorough inspection. We are very satisifed with the job they completed for us.

John was very candid and pleasant to work with and his team was prompt and thorough. In fact they finished the job in one day and when they left the yard was clean with no debris left over from the installation. The shingles were properly installed and greatly enhanced the look of our home. For the money, Sparkman provided tremendous value. We have several other home improvement projects (windows, gutters, tear-out/rebuild) so we will put Sparkman on top of the bid list and give special consideration based off of our last experience. I would highly recommend Sparkman.

Everyone we spoke with in this company was very professional and responsive. They were prompt, reasonably priced, and their worked fixed the problem. We "inherited" many roof problems when we purchased our home, and we found Sparkman Roofing to be offer the best quality at a competitive price. Unlike other roofers who tried to sell us on replacing the entire roof, Sparkman was honest and said that was not necessary for several years. We will definitely use them again, if needed.

John came to do the estimate at the time stated. His crew arrived on time and completed the job promptly. The shingles were installed after they completed a section to see if we liked the color. The entire job was completed in 4 days. The clean up EACH DAY was phenomenal. We never saw a tack or nail anywhere. This was especially important to us since we have a small child and puppy. I would use Sparkman again....

I contacted several roofing companies and Sparkman was the only company willing to work with the money the insurance company gave me for repairs. They deal directly with the insurance company for you if more money is needed. I was impressed with their presentation and eager to sign a contract. Unfortunately my roofing experience was not as positive as my initial experience. What was to be a one day job was completed on the fifth day. I was promised that the crew would do a thorough clean-up and remove all trash and nails. Four weeks later I am still finding nails. The crew damaged the screen door on my patio, broke one of my solar lights, killed large areas of grass, and made no attempt to protect my flowers and shrubs when they threw debris from the roof. The company has agreed to pay for the damages. These problems have nothing to do with the integrity of the business itself. Sparkman have simply taken on too much work, forcing them to hire crews they have no time to screen or train.

I checked out other contractors, and Sparkman was the only contractor that could do ALL the work including roofing, siding, sanding & painting and was in good standing with the BBB. Sparkman also put on roof vents that matched the new architectural shingles. His nearest competitor did not offer sanding & painting or matching roof vents. Sparkman also put in a ridge vent. I am a single female, and Sparkman was very professional and never made me feel uncomfortable. The workers cleaned up after themselves. One caveat: Sparkman will not give you an up front estimate but does do the repairs specified by the insurance company at the specific price and will haggle with the company if their repair estimates are not realistic.

After a storm, I had really bad hail damage. I asked my neighbors who they used, and they said Sparkmans of which did a great job. When I called Sparkmans, they worked with me on a price. I am very happy with the results.
