Unfortunately, we had a disappointing process with R and S Flooring. Our house had wood flooring downstairs except for the bedrooms where there was carpet. We wanted to replace the carpet with the quality of wood flooring that matched as closely as possible our existing wood flooring. We had received two bid offers from them, one each for two different quality levels of flooring. We chose the bid for the higher quality of wood to better match the existing wood flooring. The project manager, who came to our house before the installation, agreed that the higher quality wood was appropriate. Unfortunately, after installed, it was quite apparent that the new flooring was a lesser quality wood than the existing flooring. Eventually, after a lot of back and forth via the office manager and project manager, R and S Flooring agreed that the two bids had gotten intertwined and that they had made the mistake; the lesser quality wood was installed but with the higher quality wood pricing. This was a mistake that none of us caught until after it was installed. Ultimately, R and S refused to do anything but offer a reduction in the bid price to reflect the cost of poorer quality actual floor they installed. Of course, we are left with two different quality floors to look at each day and a problem that still needs to be corrected. Especially disappointing: 1. Despite repeated requests, no owner/decision-maker from R and S would even come see our floors, talk with us, and see why we were not satisfied. We were only allowed to work via the project manager, who came several times and readily agreed there was a problem and that the mistake was made by R and S, but he stated he had no ability to make any corrective decisions. 2. We offered to accept two rooms as is and asked that only the two other rooms be redone. We even offered to pay more money for this effort so each of us would share the cost/responsibility of this mistake. This offer was rejected out of hand; no discussions ever took place. 3. R and S Flooring owners do not take responsibility for their work. The work crews, staining, finish-up were fine; our issue is that the wrong floor was installed. R and S Flooring only wants to reduce the original contract price as compensation while leaving us with their new floor installation that we will still need to replace, one way or another.

Consumers Beware- We hired R and S Flooring located at 8105 Moores Lane #500 in Brentwood, TN to install hardwood flooring in our master bedroom. The R and S job supervisor did not supervise our install. A worker sent to our home was a habitual felon and heroin addict and robbed our home of at least $70,000 of valuables. Our floor as well as items in our home were left damaged. An investigation determined our valuables were traded, pawned and sold to drug dealers.

I chose to hire R&S Flooring for a wood flooring project in my home. I had another company in mind as well. I had both companies come out and give me an estimate. I chose R&S for several reasons over the competitor. I called the office and spoke with Teresa who was professional and she was able to set up an appt. the next day. The estimator who came out, Clayton, was early for our meeting. He was prepared to answer all of my questions and he had a relaxed, professional personality. I asked him a ton of questions and he was able to answer them all and made sure I had a good understanding of the process and what his company would do for us. I've never had a flooring job done before so trust me when I say I needed information and guidance. He never acted like it was a problem or rushed me through the estimate. He was able to measure my rooms within 10 minutes and he had all the measurements he needed. I was shocked it was so fast and easy. He told me the job would take 3 days and a clean up crew would come in and clean up all of the mess. He stayed another 30 minutes answering my questions for me. When we went to the show room to pick out our flooring I was really pleased with the huge selection of flooring they had to choose from. We wanted a hickory finish but decided on a Brazilian Cherry. The crew did an amazing job laying the flooring and they were fast. They finished on schedule as planned and my floors are gorgeous. I have another project upstairs I will be tackling soon and I will without a doubt have Clayton come measure and have their crew put down our upstairs flooring for us. Thank you R&S Flooring!

I had an estimate done the second week of August and then a crew into demo a week later and they had all the work completed in just 4 days which was impressive because I had a built in tub that had to be removed and replaced with a stand alone tub. I am putting my house on the market and I needed the work to be perfect but also done quickly and for an affordable price I felt R&S did it all!

R&S did an exceptional job with my flooring. I had the funniest rep come in to give me an estimate and he (I think his name is Clayton) after making me laugh gave me a prompt and fair estimate and a great timeframe to start the job. Once the job began the tile and wood flooring went off without a hitch. Eric oversaw the project from start to finish and I could not believe the quality of work. I love my new floors our house looks like a whole new home. I would recommend R&S to anyone, anywhere, anytime!!! Even my dogs are happy!!

Let me begin by detailing what we were told would happen by the salesman (which we were later told by an employee would say anything to sell the job). We were told that when our floors were done, we wouldn't be able to tell any workers were here at all. If anything got damaged, it would be repaired to perfection by the company, as if it never happened. I can assure you none of those things happened. The entire install job was so horrible it had to get redone. There was damage to both my walls and trim. Their solution was to slap a thin coat of paint on it to try to cover it up, but only made it worse. I've detailed all the dameage, frustration and headache that was caused by using this company, a decision we all regret making. We have spent so much time fixing and repairing every bit of damage they caused, it's heartbreaking when you consider how much money we paid for this low quality, horrific work. They are clearly quantity driven, not QUALITY driven. 1. Job scheduled to be five days with a 5 day hotel stay. Due to the fact they did a horrible job on the install, they had to do it all over again, which required another 3 day hotel stay. Total project took 3 weeks instead of 5 days. We had to live in the house with the entire bottom floor moved into our garage and bonus room for three weeks, including having no kitchen to cook in. 2. The lack of communication and confusion they breed is the most frustrating part. One person tells you one thing, and another person tells you something completely different. You can't trust they'll do what they say, show up on time or have the least bit of concern for the customer's happiness. They sent a crew out to do the work on my house who had multiple complaints on the quality of work they were doing. Why keep sending them out? That cost me 2 extra weeks of headache, frustration, money and inconvenience. 3. The install was terrible. There were wide gaps in the boards all over the place, nail holes weren't filled in at all, boards were laid too far from the wall for trim to cover it. The installers rushed to get it done. This happened throughout the entire job. 4. When we pointed out all the stain the installers got on my freshly painted walls, dings in the corners that had to be repatched and walls that needed to be entirely repainted, the PM's response to us was all of that was 'normal'. Obviously anyone who has ever experienced a good quality job, or has pride in ANYTHING they do knows better than that. They did a terrible job. But I can say with absolute certainty that the amount of money I paid for them to do my floors should guarantee that NO damage be done to my home at the cost of their work in it. So, be warned, having them provide service in your home will guarantee damage to it as well as your money and labor in repairing the damage. 5. People didn't show up for scheduled appointments and didn't offer the courtesy of a phone call, installers showed up without a clue of what work they were supposed to do. My husband and I had to tell them which was difficult since they barely spoke english. 6. They took two weeks to come back out to fix the job they screwed up, still with no kitchen or furniture. The company actually postponed our job once because when someone called in sick, they didn't feel that fixing our floors was a high priority. New work was more important. 7. The trim work was just as awful as the initial flooring install. The shoe mold cuts were too short with corners not meeting, most of the pieces were only nailed down on the ends which meant they bowed out away from the wall in the middle, the shoe mold they replaced in my kitchen around my oak cabinets wasn't even stained to match my cabinets. They laid down bare wood shoe mold in my kitchen and I even found a piece of shoe mold that wasn't nailed down at all. Luckily my husband has a nail gun and was able to redo all the trim since it wasn't done properly. 8. The painter that came out to paint the shoe mold and trim decided only a light single coat was needed. He painted over trim that was destroyed when they ripped it off to do the floors instead of repairing it first then painting. Again, a truly horrible job on the trim and painting. My husband spent days replacing and repairing it. Both of us are irritated beyond belief that we paid for their work and it was so terrible. I have never had such a miserable experience dealing with a company performing a service. Since our troubles began, I've heard of other homeowners experiencing the same thing. One couple was sent to a hotel for a few days while the work was scheduled to be done, only to come home and find they never showed to do the job. I truly regret using them to do my floors, it has been a nightmare of an experience.

The sales person was on time and I got a quote quickly. The person I discussed the charges with over the phone was nice and helpful. I decided to go with R&S because they would remove the bathroom fixtures. I had a quote from another company who quoted the same price on the refinishing, but far less on the shoe molding. R&S states on their quote that they will try to match competing quotes, but when I asked about the shoe molding I was sent back to the sales person who never responded when I sent him my other quote. Still waiting for a response or the gift card they offer if they can't match a price. The project manager was an hour late to our pre walk meeting and I thought we decided what would be done on the job. His crew wanted to drastically change the stain color at the last minute, literally, and called me. they day they started the job Why they didn't' call the project manager, I don't know. We got it resolved but I didn't get exactly what I wanted on the color but it looked OK anyway. The day before they were scheduled to start, I got a call that the crew doing the work was gong on vacation and would start after the Memorial Day holiday. This pushed us back a few days and I had to contact R&S to reschedule the post walk which never happened since the project manager was not available. As was noted in another review, the project manager is not there when the job is going on and good luck getting him back out there after the work is done. No one called when the job was done - we don't live in this house and were preparing it to rent - we assumed the job was done, got to the house to find trash all over the yard, a giant muddy rut in my lawn where they had pulled their truck up to the front door, tape everywhere with do not enter at the front door. I called the project manager to ask if it was OK to enter the house - no answer. As noted in another review, the house was not put back together. I was missing door stops with just screws sticking out of the walls, the stove was pulled out of the wall and left, an over the toilet shelving unit was ripped out of the wall leaving holes in the drywall. The floor vent covers were scattered all over the house, we eventually found them all to place them back on the vents. The air had been left at 71 degrees, the last worker who installed the shoe molding never turned it back up. We ended up hauling the trash away ourselves since we were expecting tenants to arrive the next day. The baseboards in one room were chipped up which looked really awful. They didn't remove and replace all the shoe molding so there was a section which had white shoe molding while the rest was red oak. Very unprofessional. I raised these issues with the project manager and office manager and all I got was sorry and glad you were pleased with the job. The project manager never was able to schedule with my tenant and called me to let me know. I immediately contacted my tenant who said they had been in contact but no firm date scheduled. This would not have been an issue had R&S kept to the original schedule in the first place as I was supposed to do the post walk on May 30 but the job was not finished. I had tried to get them back out any day between May 31 thru June 2 but, the project manager did not have another appt available until the following week after our tenants moved in. The day the project manager called was the day they charged my credit card for completion of the job without my consent or even notification that my card was going to be charged. No one at R&S got my permission to charge my credit card nor did the project manager tell me they were going to close out the job without resolving the outstanding issues. My tenant called the project manager again and was told he had no available dates at this time. I guess since they have been paid, I won't see or hear from them again. I called the office and was told someone would call back, they never did. I sent emails with pictures of the issues, and to date, no one at R&S has contacted me about the open issues. Unfortunately, I paid a premium price for a really poor job and R&S doesn't seem to care.

My experience with R and S Wood Flooring has been a terribly disappointing experience resulting in subpar work and unnecessary additional inconvenience and expense. They have not alone done shoddy work, but also treated my home with utter disregard. I have paid thousands of dollars for a job they were more than happy to charge me the full amount for even though it is still not fixed. I hired them for a new hardwood install and finish to match existing flooring in two main floor rooms as well as the landing and second floor hall. I came home to inspect their handiwork and found problem after problem, some of which may seem minor, but all together they tell the story of an employee who has no respect for his work and treated my home like his personal garbage can and urinal. This employee, the "finisher" urinated all over the bathroom floor and toilet amongst other things in my main floor bathroom, and left the seat up to display his handiwork. He also left a filthy hand print on my refrigerator door. In addition to treating my home like garbage, this same man, who I later learned has been with the company for several years AND has done poor work before, left swirling patterns and bubbles all over the floors, completely failed to stain the stair nosing whatsoever and then lied about it. He also "lost" a piece of carpet from my stairs, so there is now a primed riser that doesn’t match- they couldn’t even be bothered to cover the nail holes and paint the thing- not that it would look right anyway. He also failed to cover the HVAC vents, so they were filled with sawdust. I tried to vacuum as much of it out as possible, but I’ve had to change the furnace filters continually and I have no way of cleaning out the ductwork properly without replacing it. In fact notwithstanding their “dustless” process, there was a half inch of dust all over everything, and it was caked into the remaining carpet, because no effort was made to protect my property or to clean up. I have stayed on top of this and called the project manager to complain. The only remedy he offered was to "fix it," which involves relocating my family and pets again, which is inconvenient and expensive. Some of their staff, including the project manager, are as nice as they can be, but don't let that fool you. The project manager was never onsite, because he is the project manager for 75 concurrent projects, so there is no oversight whatsoever. Moreover, they think that offering to do correctly a second time what should be done the first time is a sufficient remedy. And to add insult to injury, they would have sent the same "finisher" who urinated all over my bathroom and did an amateurish job on my several thousand dollar project back to my house if I had not refused to allow it. Now I have to take a vacation day from work to make sure they don't actually send that crook to vandalize my house and deal with moving my family out of the house again to accommodate their substandard work. Do not hire them. At least I can spare you all and my other family members who were going to hire them for even more extensive work from the same issues.

I needed someone who could deal with the inconsistencies of my old floor and do it right. I was assured this would happen. The project manager was not able to come out the night before the job to look over the issues. I should have stopped the job then, but I was told he would come out mid-day and check to make sure the job was going according to plan. The team showed up at 10am- that's 10! with very limited instructions. I explained what needed to get done, and why I wasn't doing the work myself. The project manager never showed up. The team had to leave to get materials. I saw them scrape away some of the vinyl floor that had been under the wood laminate, but not all of it. They finished laying the floor at about 8:30 PM. The manager came early the next day. The floor looks good, but I had not had a chance to walk on all parts of the floor. I found that the part of the floor I had anticipated having problems was smooth, but now there is a new hump where the kitchen meets the living room and a hump in the middle of the dining room where they had not scraped the old floor up. There are also a couple of dips in the great room. I do not recommend working with them. I bought my own flooring and did all the quarter round. The people who came to pick the trash were very nice and did a great job.

I bought an Angie's List deal for flooring or refinishing. R&S indicated that they had a $800 minimum that included 2 coats of an oil-based finish. When I wanted a different finish, they did not simply re-quote for a 165 sq ft job with the new finish requirements. then charge extra if it did not meet the minimum. They added everything on top of their "minimum," and they did not deduct the cost and labor for the originally included 2 coats of oil-based finish. Their "minimum" is more like a base visit charge. I did ask for a more expensive finish and more coats, but in the end they wanted over $2300 to refinish 165 sq ft. Further, when I inquired about the estimate, they did not respond. I had to call several times. Finally, when I spoke to the estimator, he was "take it or leave it," but promised to talk to "the boss." I never heard from them again. I got a refund on the deal from Angie's List.
