Overall I am not satisfied. It was a cheap product. It had to be reordered again several times because it wasn’t the right item. So it took them almost three and a half months to finish the job. It was a very worst experience with them. They are sub-contracting the jobs from different contractors and there was miscommunication and lots of mistakes happened. The carpets were supposed to be finished in three weeks and right now it is three and a half months. They ordered the wrong pieces several times and each time I had to send it back. It was a terrible experience.
Description of Work: We used Home Depot for kitchen renovation. They have installed carpet and flooring.

The goal this year was to replace 1/2 the windows in our home, having already replaced the first 1/2 with Home Depot in 2010. The salesman who came out and gave us the estimate was clear and helpful, and the order was placed. We received a call with an install date, but later received another call to say the windows hadn't arrived and installation needed to be postponed. Two weeks passed, so I called to find out what was happening. The salesman checked and found that one of the windows couldn't be made as ordered, and a change was made. Installation was again scheduled, and the install crew showed up as expected. The first issue we ran into was that the trim color indicated on their work order wasn't the one on the windows contract and didn't match the trim on the 2010 windows. The crew foreman made a call, made a special trip, and the desired color was obtained. In the middle of the job, the crew foreman came in and asked to show me something. Turns out the crew who installed our windows in 2010 had used one technique and one color on the front windows and a different technique and different color on the back windows. So the color match we did at the beginning of the day didn't match the back of the house. The foreman said they would finish the current work, close that work order, and then submit another to come back and correct the windows from 2010 that didn't match. He did exactly as promised and changed the trim color, but couldn't change the install technique without threatening the integrity of the marble window sills and molding. I was very impressed with this particular crew. Unfortunately, the fact that Home Depot subcontracts means you run the risk of getting a good or bad crew, getting quality or shoddy installation. The next thing I needed was some information to complete paperwork for a $500 energy credit from TVA through Middle TN Electric. I went to Home Depot, was given the name and number of the area sales manager, and called. He told me I didn't need that information, that he was "sick of housewives telling him how to do his job", and finally had me fax him the paperwork after agreeing to email me the completed documents. Eleven days later, after three calls which did not result in documents, and two calls to his boss, I've received barely readable documents. The only good thing I can say about this experience is that I've learned a valuable lesson - never use Home Depot for any major home improvements.

They did a fabulous job. There is a one-year guarantee for their work. They had their kitchen and bathroom designer spend hundreds of hours which I didn?t pay for. It was included in the price. We had last remodeled the house about 30 years ago, and it?s a really old house. It has got cinder block walls with plaster over it, which made their work complicated. They hired contractors and they were really nice. They did extra things for which they hadn?t charged us. It was a really big project. They put almost 10 gallons of drywall mud repairing the plaster walls and ceilings. They rebuilt a couple of closets and did some plumbing repairs. They were very expensive. I got a lot of items on discount because I went through Home Depot and their buyer put it through a special bid room. I got big discounts on quite a few things and also did not have to pay sales tax on the items that were installed. I got $250 discount on four kitchen appliances that I replaced. I am very pleased with their service. I also had them do the outside of my house. I had them paint and put down the vinyl siding and put the cement siding. They painted my whole house. They also did the gutters and got new windows through them. They had a contractor that came and did the windows. The windows people rebuilt the whole wall and didn?t charge me for it. Home Depot?s contractors that did the painting and the siding also replaced a whole lot of boards from 1950 or before. They didn?t charge me for the lumber or labor. It was included in what Home Depot paid them. It was all really good. The outside work probably took five weeks, and the inside took six weeks. Home Depot hired good contractors. They have one department that hires people for exterior work. One group did windows installation and another one did painting and siding. If I am not satisfied with Home Depot?s work I can call them and they would call either the same people or somebody else would come out and deal with it. At one point the fence broke a huge limb and a couple of boards too, and one of the workers brought a couple of boards that looked exactly like that. They have four or five designated kitchen designers at each location. I saved 10 percent on everything and got other discounts by going through a designer. They couldn?t have been better than that. They did electrical work, plumbing work, and a whole lot of carpentry, plaster and painting. They had done anything that I asked them to do, and came at the same time everyday. I can?t complain about anything they did. They had done extra things for me that I hadn?t asked them to do at no charge. They had even fixed a wiring issue for me. They were all nice people and easy to be around.
Description of Work: I used Home Depot for remodeling and a lot of other interior and exterior work for our house.

This was a pleasant installation experience. I purchased a new Kohler cast iron kitchen sink, faucet, and disposal to replace my old in the store and paid Home Depot to install. Although I think I overpaid for the installation process, everything went well.

Overall, I was disappointed in the install. First, I paid extra to have an expedited install (I missed the cutoff for next day delivery by 15 min, so I paid extra to get it anyways). A few hours later, I was contacted by HD and told that I couldn't get next day installation after all. The subcontractor was timely, though he was unaware of standard plumbing practices (installation of dielectric connectors). I had to ask him to reuse the ones from my old heater. He was friendly but complaining during the install about how busy he was. After he finished, my kitchen faucet quit working, which he eventually fixed; however, my master toilet has made a horrendous noise when filling ever since. While working on my faucet,he complained constantly about how poor quality it was. Further, the price charged on my credit card was not the initial price quoted or the new price with the expedited delivery charge refunded. This service was hardly the quality I expected. A clumsy experience.
Description of Work: I used the website/1-800 number to have Home Depot install a new hot water heater. This was not coordinated through a local store. Per my experience below, I spoke with employees of a local store, and they said others have had trouble with the H heater installation. They blamed it on the fact that the local stores had no input into process or control over subcontractors (for what it is worth).

The initial designer that worked with us was moved to another department and no one informed us. We just didn't know why phone calls were being ignored. The initial order for cabinets was incomplete due to a "computer error" so additional time was needed to order parts. We were not aware these parts were not in until after the installers had torn out our kitchen and started installation. It took several weeks to get the order for new parts placed. The installers did a terrible job. They left things unfinished that could have been finished, the cabinets were not level and they tried to hide damage they had done to the cabinets during installation. We asked that those installers not be allowed to come finish the job once all of the right parts were in. When the next installer came all parts were still not in again. In summary this store did a terrible job at returning phone calls and fixing problems once they occurred. We still have a couple of small things that were never finished.
Description of Work: We purchased appliances and new kitchen cabinets from Home Depot and had Home Depot tear out the old cabinets and install them.

From the time we ordered the cabinets and sinks to when they were installed, Home Depot did not follow-through. They were very disorganized. Then when the units did come, they were damaged and had to be replaced. We will never buy at Home Depot again.
Description of Work: We purchased bathroom cabinets and sinks from Home Depot. The company then subcontracted to have them installed.

Home Depot was very incompetent. They broke things and did not even admit it. The wood levels were mismatched. I would never use this company again. They had no idea what they were doing.
Description of Work: They took out the carpet and replaced it with hardwood and sanded and finished the flooring. They disposed of the old carpeting.

Overall, Home Depot did a good job, however, there were a lot of delays in getting the actual job started. I felt they were honest and hard workers. Home Depot was a pleasant company to work with.
Description of Work: Home Depot installed laminate flooring in the rooms.
