BELLIS' CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION LLC

I have had a terrible experience with this company. I called and asked for a quote, it took 3 days of repeated calls for them to show up and conduct the estimate. After the estimate I felt comfortable working with their group. I was explained how because my home was lower than the road there would need to be special considerations taken to the design of my driveway to make sure water did not come into my garage and that it flowed off to the left side of my property. I also had a few requests of my own, I wanted a new culvert installed and I requested that forms be built around the culvert to make the ends of my driveway look beautiful. The following week a small crew compiled of one foreman and two young kids (who had never worked concrete before and happened to be on their first day on the job) came in and began digging out for my driveway and two walkways as I had requested. The gentleman who had conducted the estimate came to my home to check on his men and asked me if I wouldn't mind allowing them to use a small part of my yard to put some of the existing gravel so they could use it to fill my driveway along with new gravel. I agreed with no hesitation, later I found this was one very large mistake. Later in the day when I saw how much trouble they were having and not following proper procedures i.e. digging 8" and back filling 4" with fresh gravel. After they left for the day i was left with a lot of questions and half built forms. The following day the same foreman and one of the young kids arrived and began working on the forms again, they stayed approximately two hours and after they left I decided to take a few measurements of my own. I then worked in my own driveway for two hours repairing mis-measured forms. Now back to the pile of back filling gravel now in my yard, well its was no longer in my yard. It was in my ditch where they had pushed it with their bobcat, along with all the dirt from digging my walkways. During the process they destroyed the entire right side yard and it has now been mixed with what was left of the gravel in my driveway!!!!!! FYI NO GRAVEL WAS USED TO BACKFILL MY DRIVEWAY!!!!!!!!!!! None of what they put in my yard and no new gravel. The next day after a large storm blew in I was furious and they arrived at my house ready to pour my driveway. I honestly didn't know what to say I was so angry. They assured me they would clean their mess, and that because my gravel driveway was in the same location for so many years that it was solid enough to pour directly on top of, i shared my concerns with them pouring concrete over what had become a pond in my front yard, they again assured me it would dry that I would need to wait a week before driving on it. I reluctantly allowed them to pour the driveway. Big mistake. After it was all said and done I paid a total of 7,000 Dollars US and now my walkways are unlevel, my driveway holds water in front of my garage, does not slope either direction (what the estimator told me was absolutely not what should happen), I never got my beautiful forms at the end of my driveway around my culvert. I contacted Bellis concrete and requested the same gentlemen who conducted the estimate to pay me a visit that I had several issues to discuss about my driveway. He never came, instead the owner Fred Bellis came and assured me there was nothing wrong with my driveway, he also explained to me how he would install a drain on the right side of my driveway to collect the water trapped there now, he also explained to me how the following week he would PERSONALLY come fix my yard, ditch lines and areas around my culverts. This was 3 weeks ago and I have not heard or seen them. This contractor came highly recommended and I am sure that for most people they would have no problems. But when they screw up they darn sure aren't prepared to fix it once they have been paid.

He did a good job on the concrete work they did for us. He was fair, he quoted a cost to us, and kept to the quote. He is a busy guy, and it is sometimes hard to get him to do your project. We will use him again when we add on our deck in the near future.
