Storey Concrete Company

We almost didn't get an estimate from Storey Concrete,  (My fault, didn't know we had an Angie List Message Inbox), but lucky for us, Chris Storey followed through by calling us.  Their estimate was the last one (we usually only get three.  He came out to give the estimate on 9/5/2013, and we were impressed by his professionalism and his vast knowledge about concrete. So we thought, "He does commercial jobs, he'll be too expensive, we can't afford him."  But to our surprise, he provided us with a prompt estimate via email that very afternoon, and the price  came in #3 out of the 4 estimates that we received.  So hands down, he got the job.  We were scheduled for October 15, 2013, but was delayed, due to the occasional monsoons, until October 28, 2013.  He came out promptly at 8:00 a.m. and the work began.  His crew arrived at dawn each day to break up and carried out the old concrete (No easy task given the steep grade of our driveway, and the landscaping enclosing it ), and replaced it with a gorgeous new driveway and patio in five days, not counting the weekend.  They then returned two consecutive days: He returned Tuesday and personally used a shovel and wheelbarrow to clean up the mud from the curb, and he sent his foreman out Wednesday to power washer it. WOW!  These are the hardest working young men I've seen in a very long time, and we are completely satisfied with the splendid job that they did.  We love the driveway and the patio.

I cannot say enough good things about Storey concrete.  When Chris Storey came out to give me an estimate, I could tell he was a real professional.  He answered all of my questions with clear, concise and thorough answers.  He offered advice that helped me make decisions.  He and his crew poured the patio this week and it looks great.  This is my third patio and it is by far the most professional one yet.  To top it all off, his price was good.  It was slightly better than the nearest estimate and he gave me a 5% "Angie's List" discount.
I highly recommend Storey concrete to anyone needing any type of concrete work done.

I personally dealt with Chris Storey. He is a very personable, professional contractor who determines exactly what has to be done, and does exactly what he says. He removed my old patio, hauled it away, and rebuilt it in less than three days.  I'm a long-time Collierville resident and wouldn't hesitate to use his services again. Thank again, Chris!

  Work was accomplished satisfactorily. Had to monitor final steps to get slope to my satisfaction.

Price was middle of road. Response time was great. Work was well done. A little concrete splatter to side of house but not enough to complain about.

Do get estimates and understand small jobs may not provide enough work to make the job profitable. Do ask for and follow up on references. Do get in writing the quality of concrete to be used. Do ask about the preperation before pouring concrete mix (bedding for drainage etc.) 

In other words, I had some sections that due to trees being there, one time the roots had uprooted the cement there. There was potential liability for somebody tripping out there. I cut the trees down and then had them come out. It was done all in the hard way with good manual labor, prep and all the other stuff. They were excellent. They were not on Angie’s List. They were good and competitive. They did excellent work. I got four estimates and they came in within $200 of each other. It became a question of finding out, getting references and then getting comfortable with people. In terms of price, they were competitive. When you look at personal services whether it is roofing or concrete, it is all about finding out and making sure people are going to do quality job because the guy up the street got another concrete guy and they did a horrible job. In the end if you think you saved $200 but the job is shoddy than you did not get any value. They are the only people I will use; you go with people that you know will do quality work.
