Our furnace started to die so we called around for estimates and Larry's Heating & Cooling in Yankton was one of them and they gave us a couple of options, the biggest being we had an old Lennox Pulse furnace which had a defective part in it so it was under an extended factory recall warranty that gave us the option to buy a new Lennox furnace at a great discount or we could replace the motor but we had them oil the bearings to get us by for a few months while we saved up some money to purchase a new furnace and air conditioner as we are on a fixed income. The salesman sat with us and helped pick out the right furnace and A/C unit, went over rebates, additional options, etc... and since we had a certain amount of money saved up we went with an upgraded unit with large filter option and had them install the A-frame condenser unit that goes above the furnace so when we have the money for the A/C unit it can be quickly installed since the condenser was already there. We were amazed at how fast and professional the install technicians were and what a good job they did fitting everything together and the little extras they included was very impressive. the vent stack on our hot water heater was not installed correctly by another company so they removed it and installed a new one...correctly. and they made a little tin magazine holder and mounted it to the furnace to store the manual and paperwork and placed the service sticker on it. something very simple and quick to do that i bet other companies wouldn't have thought of or do! Over all we are very happy with our salesman, the installers, the pricing and would recommend Larry's to anyone in need of a new furnace or air conditioner or just simple service.
Description of Work: Larry's sent over a technician to take some measurements of our old furnace so when we called that we were ready for a new furnace (and air conditioner) they were able to start cutting and forming tin for the installation so when they arrived they just had to remove the old furnace install the new one and do minor tin work to make it all fit like a glove! We will also be installing a new A/C unit when our funds are replenished so for now we had Larry's remove our old one as it would not work with the new furnace and thats why we waited so long to install the furnace so the weather would hopefully stay cool and we would no longer need our air conditioner turned on. Not having to do it they were kind enough to repair the exhaust tubing on our hot water heater which was installed incorrectly by another company! the tech quickly formed some tin pieces and had it all done in a few minutes. It was amazing to watch these two guys work together, its easy to see they have installed a LOT of furnaces and air conditioners cause they knew what the other was thinking and would stay out of each others way at the appropriate time and worked very smoothly around one another. They were in and out of here in less than six hours i think it was but they will have to be back to install the A/C unit and lines but that should go very quickly.

The next day, another man called back and said they would need to special-order and install a $50 kit to get the dryer scheduled for delivery to vent straight down, and they'd charge me twice the normal delivery fee ($70 dollars x 2) plus labor because of all the extra work. I said I'd been told the dryer they were going to deliver already vented straight down. At this point this man named Tom got very condescending with me and explained that no matter what dryer I bought, they all vented out the side and would require a special kit and extra labor to convert. At this point, the $349 dryer was up to almost $600, and I said, given that I've been lied to by my count no fewer than 3 times already, and that the price went up at least $50 every time one of us called the other; thanks, but no thanks. He was very rude and basically threatened that I'd get the same answers anywhere else and I'd have trouble installing it. He said I could try somewhere else, but he was sure I'd end up calling them back and having them do the work. As it turned out, I went to Best Buy and bought the dryer, plus conversion kit for well under the original $349. My two girlfriends installed it for me, having significantly less drama in replacing it than the men had had, and nobody complained about how my house smelled. About a month after the fiasco with the lying abusive service person, I got a knock on my front door. It was the Animal Control Officer, who demanded to inspect my house for a welfare check on the animals inside , after receiving a complaint about how the rabbits were being treated. Well, the rabbits live downstairs since it's cooler (bunnies can't tolerate high temps well), I have more room so that they can live in pens roughly ten times the size of the rabbit hutches commercially available, linoleum is easier to clean, and furthermore, they eat better than I do; it's a running joke with one of the local grocery store managers, how the bunnies get all the nice fresh produce and I eat all the other sugar- and fat-filled items I buy. Needless to say, the Animal Control Officer found nothing wrong with how my animals were being housed or treated. The complaint was clearly payback for the fact I complained about the service person's conduct, and did not buy my dryer from that company. If the person was truly concerned with how my animals were being treated, why wait one month to call? So, I would never buy anything from that company again, and I certainly wouldn't recommend them to anyone at all. Especially anyone with pets. Or a limited budget. Or anyone who didn't like to see other people cussed out for being helpful.
Description of Work: I called to replace my dryer after the drum stopped tumbling. I was told they had a dryer on sale for $349.00. That was within my budget, so I asked to have it delivered and installed, and the old one hauled away. They set up an appointment for the following day. When they arrived, they were almost 45 minutes late. One delivery person was the rudest imaginable: He was curt, abrupt, foul-mouthed, and quick to anger. The washer/dryer set is in a built-in cabinet, and requires some maneuvering to get out. He snapped at his co-worker when the man offered some (accurate) advice on how to get the machine out: "I'll get it! Just chill the *Expletive* out, alright?! I'll handle it!" This man never did remove the old machine completely, saying instead it would require a special tool to take the door off. (The "special tool" turned out to be a Phillips screwdriver). He told me the new machine wouldn't work because it had to vent straight down. Faced with the seeming impossibility of placing the new machine in the dryer's current location, I asked him (I later found out his name was Dustin), to come downstairs, where the washer/dryer combo had been originally when we moved in, and tell me what I needed to do to make it work. He resisted, and I finally coaxed him about halfway downstairs. I said, well, obviously, we can't put the dryer in downstairs today, since I'd have to move some furniture, etc. He said, "Alright, goodbye!" and prepared to leave. I said, hey wait a minute, I still need to know what I need to do to prepare. Finally he came downstairs and very briefly and unhelpfully barked out; I'd need a 220V line and I would have to re-route the ducting to be able to install the new dryer. I still really did not understand what I needed to do, but with his temper and attitude I was afraid to ask more. They left so abruptly they forgot their clipboard with their sales tickets. In the meantime, I called to complain to the company about this man's behavior. I was told the reason they had left so abruptly was because of the way my house "smelled." Now, I do have 5 cats, 4 rabbits, and 2 dogs. Most people can, upon entering the house, tell I have animals. However, they are kept very clean at all times and are all in excellent health. Sometimes, however, there is some litter box oder, as any cat owner will tell you. "I beg your pardon?" The woman said: "The smell in your house was overwhelming, and they had to leave." I once again disagreed, and described the delivery person's rude behavior. The woman was apologizing for this just as the men came back for their clipboard. I asked what the man's name was, who was so rude. He claimed it was "Mike," which the woman on the phone said was a lie (this made 2 lies, including the screwdriver). I asked if they could send someone else back with the right tools and a dryer that vented straight down. She said they had another dryer for about $400 in stock that would fit in the space allowed.
