I had asked for an estimate. I was given $4000-$5000 to retile both the walls in my basement that were leaking. He only retiled a portion of one of my walls but the estimate stayed the same price. I came home to find out he had been snooping in my basement and found paint brushes and sealer and paint. He did so without asking. Where else was he snooping? He used the sealer he found in my basement to seal the walls. Estimate still remained the same. He put all his supplies in my garage and made a total mess. He finished sealing the walls and retiling the portion of the floor. He totally trashed the trim around my "new" eggress window bringing supplies in and out the window. He said he would fix it. He did not. He insulated some of the walls. He ran out of insulation. Said he would be back to finish. He did not. He took 2 smoke alarms down off my ceilings and never replaced them. He used our hose in th back yard and a week later we find it still out there. He did not put it away. I came home to our ladder up against our house and he is no where to be found. We had to put it away. He said he would clean up his mess. All he did was take his stuff out of my garage and leave. I had to clean the garage. He had sand and pearock all over the place. He had gotten sand and pearock all over my basement steps (White Carpet which he never covered) and did not vaccuum them. He made a big hole in my basment ceiling and marked up my basement walls while taking the sheetrock off. Which he did not resheetrock because he claimed it became more extensive then originally planned. Too bad, you bid that price. His bid was to retile and resheetrock and fix the leakage and it was for $4000 - $5000 and he didn't do everything he bid but the bid remained the same and he left me high and dry to finish insulating and sheetrocking. He left me to clean up the mess he made. He made more issues to be fixed with his carelessness. He was very unprofessional and did not fix the things he messed up or broke. He just took the money and left. He also was very annoying about the money. He told me he would get one third to begin, one third when half way finished and the final third when done. The total time he was here he was always begging for more money. Most businessman have a business account that they pay for items out of and do not beg for money everytime they see you. We had discussed having someone come over and camera the tile to see if it was broken before he fixed it. I told him I wasn't willing to pay $300.00. I came home for lunch and there was a plumbing company outside waiting to get in to camera the tile. He showed up after they had finished and told me I needed to pay them. He did not okay this with me and a trustworthy businessman would have. I paid him the final third as he told me he was done and all he had to do was clean up. I had to clean up, I had to do his leftover work. He is not a trustworthy person and obviously the people he gives you to call as references are friends or relatives that give him a good rating. I have to pay someone else to come in and finish insulating, sheetrocking and landscape and hope that he really knew what he was doing and thatt he leaking will stop. Not trustworthy, not professional does not follow through with what he proposes and costs me even more money in the long run. I will never recommend him to anyone or ever use him again. Word of mouth is a very powerful thing. He is not a very reliable or competent businessman.
