Went very well and smoothly considering having to utilize elevators at both locations (3rd floor to 3rd floor). We had one little glitch where a small computer chair was left on the elevator while they were moving a large entertainment unit. Someone else grabbed the elevator while the movers were busy and pushed the chair out on a different floor. Took a couple of days to locate it, but all was fine. Understandably strange occurrence. The movers were very helpful in the search.

I called and made appointment with Mini Movers. They were busy but squeezed me in on Saturday. They called when they arrived. They sent 3 men, we ordered 2. We were charged for only for 2 men which we ordered. The guys were great very professional did the job quickly without incident. Would use them again.

They were very slow. We always used two men and a truck. But they were booked for weeks. So we tried this one. We paid a lot more then normal because they were very slow. They had one that would just stand around. I finally had to help to speed it along. Hate to give them a bad review but it was a costly move for such slow movers.

I hired Mini Movers to move my mother's belongings from a Bismarck ND assisted living facility to one in Sioux Falls SD vicinity. We had limited time, and had to tightly coordinate times with the two facilities to get her checked out of one and into other in timely manner. Mini Movers were a joy to work with. They were in Bismarck ahead of schedule - and at location in South Dakota ahead of schedule as well. Their estimate was accurate even without being able to do a site visit. Everything arrived in good condition. At both locations, they had to work through tight hallways, with people walking through or standing around to see what was going on. Todd and Troy were very polite with my mother and her friends who were sometimes in the way. We tried to arrange a much shorter move without crossing state lines a year earlier and it was a nightmare, so working with Mini Moves was wonderful.

Three movers loaded my possesion and that went so so. There were times when I wanted to close my eyes. I walked by the truck once when a metal snow shovel was thrown into the top of the truck. It hit my dining room table leg. Several items arrived stratched. When the items were unloaded at my new home, the mover sent two people. One was a high-school student. The other was a college student. I was dissapointed that an experienced mover did not show up to at least oversee the process. I felt sorry for the two boys (they were very tired and hot) so told them I would put all the furniture back together. I expected better.

We had an awful experience with this company. There are so many things that went wrong! We got a bid for them to "move" rooms of the house. the first day we were told "they don't pack" items! We were told they don't move "fragile items". We had to watch them every minute and "unpack" boxes they had already prepared. They used NO paper or anything to cushion items. For the kitchen...they used my mother's towels! They packed heavy items with glass or china in the same box. The first day we called the office and left a message that we were unhappy and wanted to talk to someone. No one called! We had to call them three days later when the next part of the move was going to happen. We told the owner we dreaded the next day. I do have to say he tried to smooth things over, however after he told us he was not going to send the same crew...he sent the same guy we had the most trouble with! We were walking on eggshells the first day because of the attitude of the guy in charge. If we asked him to do something he made a big sigh and comments under his breath. They didn't bring enough boxes. My mother had 5 closets...they brought one wardrobe. When they came back the second day, they didn't have enough boxes and had to use boxes we had collected for a separate part of the move! They were reluctant to place furniture where we asked them and would not assist us in "leveling" a curio with three pieces. We were told by the guy in charge he has never had to do that! Both my sister and I have had numerous moves and never had any mover argue about that or do it with such a horrible attitude!

In the process of this move, I learned a lot about how to hire a moving company: In addition to checking Angie’s list, I contacted the Better Business Bureau and checked Movingscam.com (which has excellent information). Local real estate agents can sometimes make recommendations for good moving companies. I also consulted SaferSys.org, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA) web site, to check on the safety record of the company I chose. My mother, who had lived in Sioux Falls, SD for over sixty years, was planning to move to northern Idaho. She went for a visit and decided to stay, but her belongings were still in Sioux Falls (and her doctor was forbidding air travel because of her blood pressure). So I began to search for a moving company that could transport her belongings. Because she was already in Idaho, she was hoping to have the move occur soon. I contacted numerous national companies, several local companies, and several “you pack” companies that would simply transport the goods. The only companies that could work with her time frame were the “you pack” companies. Because of the location of her apartment, that would have involved hiring a local moving company to transport the belongings to the semi. Then it would have been several weeks before her things would have been delivered to her. Since my mother would not be present, I was planning to pack and supervise the move, but I do not live in Sioux Falls. Several companies would not even talk to me because I could not meet them for an in-home estimate. Mini Movers just happened to be moving another Sioux Falls resident to Boise, Idaho, and would have room on one of the trucks for another small load. They were able to work with our time frame and gave a very reasonable estimate, based on pictures that I sent of my mom’s entire apartment (including storage areas!). Both Michelle and Troy were very willing to answer my questions. Troy was working on another move when I called (he seems to spend much of his time on the road!), but responded to my call. Troy provides replacement coverage (at his cost) for all items in a move, which is far more than most companies provide. We set a loading date for June 25, 2012. Three movers came to the apartment. I had most things packed, but left the kitchen items for them. They had the items packed and the truck loaded in about two hours. My mom’s household items were then stored on the truck until the date of the other person’s move. The actual transport took several days (they dropped off the other household first), and the items were delivered to my mom’s new apartment on July 9. The total bill came to $2915 (we forgot to use the $100 discount from the Mini Mover website). This was significantly less than other movers estimated, anywhere from 50%-65% less than the cost of other movers, and those other movers would not have been able to make the move at a convenient time. There were two items that were damaged: a wall hanging of little monetary but lots of sentimental value, and a large mirror. The mirror was able to be professionally repaired for a very modest cost. Troy agreed to pay $50 for the repair of both, which was entirely satisfactory. We were very satisfied with Mini Movers and very grateful that they were able to move my mom’s belongings. They were gracious, have great insurance, and charged a very reasonable rate. Perhaps part of the reason for the low cost was that my mom’s good were an “add-on” to another move. I would have appreciated a few things done differently. I asked if items could be left in drawers, but they ask that everything be removed. Michelle explained that someone had once left a bowling ball in an upper drawer and, when the load shifted, it smashed through and caused damage. So I understand why they have their policy, but would have liked to leave sweaters, pillows, etc. (lightweight items) in the drawers. The need to pack those items added to my packing time and subsequent unpacking at arrival. I would have appreciated more use of bubble wrap; I used a lot of it and think that, if they had packed the wall hanging in bubble wrap, it would probably not have broken. (I realize that the use of bubble wrap would add to the cost of the move.) I wonder if the mirror could have been better packed also. Finally, we did not hear from Mini Movers during the two weeks that the truck was loaded and in transit. It would have been nice to have occasional updates giving the progress of the move. Despite these minor criticisms, I would recommend Mini Movers wholeheartedly.

We were moving in town and did most of our own hauling, but hired MiniMovers to take two items that were too heavy for us (or our friends) to safely move. They took our very large piano and heavy hideaway couch from our old home to our new home. They had to take the furniture around the back down a slick hill into the walkout lower level. They did a difficult job well, with no problems. I'd hire them again and recommend them highly.

The whole experience was excellent! Growing up I had several nightmare-worthy moving experiences but working with Mini Movers was a huge relief. They packed everything into the moving van professionally and with care and worked quickly to get the job done even though it was a hot summer day. The movers were all very nice and polite people and knew what they were doing.
