BELLA FAUX FINISHES was founded in 2005 by MARK NORDGREN. MASTER ARTISAN'S in the application of imported Italian Venetian Plaster, the stunning Italian Finishes and New Faux Finishes. Together with sons DAVID NORDGREN and MICHAEL NORDGREN, Bella Faux Finishes has grown to be a valuable resource for ARCHITECTS, INTERIOR DESIGNERS and HOME BUILDERS, that are looking for a UNIQUE TEXTURE and COLOR to introduce on a project. Our HOME OFFICE is in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The work was beautiful and I now have a very unique fireplace and range hood. I couldn't have been happier with their work and professionalism. In fact, I was just at the end of building my house and had been dealing with many unscrupulous contractors and I told them that it had been such a pleasure working with them and that I had never encountered such professionalism and kindness from a contractor. I would recommend them to anybody!!!
Description of Work: They did venetian plaster on my fireplace and my range hood.

'talked to owner the father of the painter. He sent son to estimate. The son thought once coat of paint and one day would do the job. I feel I was baited and switched as the father then told me two coats of paint and two days. Three days later an average job was finished.

Response from BELLA FAUX FINISHES
Mark Nordgren, owner of Bella Faux Finishes. I received a call from Angie’s List saying that I had a negative review, and asked about it. So to be fair to everyone reading, I thought I would share our side, the details of the project and the timelines. FRIDAY - The member called, requesting our services to paint a living room and two hallways of the Condo he just purchased for his daughter. He said he needed someone who could do it soon, as his daughter would be moving in on Monday. My sons, David and Michael, went over to meet him and see what he needed painted. All of the walls were covered with wallpaper, that had been painted a bright green. Also the wood trim and the ceiling edges had wall color paint slopped over in various spots. He told my sons that all he wanted painted was the walls, not the ceiling. My son David Nordgren suggested he paint the ceiling because of the spots on the ceiling and the woodwork. He stated he was not worried about that, just wanted the walls painted soon, so his daughter could move in. SATURDAY – I emailed the member with a bid for his painting project. Since it was a rush job, his pricing per sq ft was higher than normal $1.10 per sq ft. SUNDAY – I talked to him, he thought our pricing was a little high. I understood, but because of our tight schedule, I said you probably would be better off finding someone who could do it cheaper. We quoted him rush pricing, as we had a new plaster project starting up on Tuesday. He thought about it and said that he wanted us to do the work. So Sunday morning David and I went over to tape, drop the floors and begin the project. I met the member for the first time, saw the wallpapered walls and stated the best solution would be to remove all of the wallpaper and start with fresh paint. The only problem would be, there is a good chance you will have tearing on the walls, which would require patching with drywall mud. This would take a much longer time to complete. He said to just paint over the wallpaper, he needed it done right away. Then Dave then asked us to now include the bedroom in the project. Here the walls were a bright pink. Adding this room made it unlikely that the project could get done on Monday. He was told the bright colors would need two coats. MONDAY – David Nordgren painted all day on project, finishing walls with two coats of paint. Cut lines tight. Slopped edges from previous painters would need to be discussed with the member on Tuesday morning. TUESDAY – (Please refer to the BEFORE picture the member posted on Angie’s List.) David Nordgren went to project to meet him and ask about the slopped edges. In this picture you can see that the old wall green color is only on the ceiling. The wall lines are tight with the new wall color. My son David Nordgren asked him what he wanted to do about the spotted areas and on the woodwork, because it looked horrible. He told my son to just paint over it with the new wall color paint. He just wanted to get the project done. UNTRUE STATEMENTS made by the member: (1) We do not receive a kickback from our any of our paint suppliers. We receive a good discount, which we then always pass on to our clients. (2) Regarding Bait and Switch, not sure if I even know what that is. Two coats of paint were always needed to cover the bright colors on the walls. When he added the bedroom to the project, this changed the time line and the cost for the project. (3) Regarding Spots on Ceiling and Woodwork, we would never leave a project looking like the picture he posted. THIS WAS THE BEFORE PICTURE. We also have never been asked to paint over wallpaper before. We advised him against painting the wallpaper because the final effect is still going to be... painted wallpaper. (3) Finally, I suspect he wishes he would have removed the wallpaper.
