We never did receive a bid or any further information.

He was not very helpful at all. I asked him a question about something when he called me back and he just said that I should ask my insurance company about that. He was not very helpful at all. He was rude. I don’t think he came out because I did not give him a chance. I think he came out when I was not around and his estimate was around $6000. He did not get back to me and acted as if he did not care about my situation.

The work was excellent. My only complaint was that he had purchased two truckloads of a particular shingle. He was extremely persistent in trying to convince us to use that shingle. It was not the color that we wanted. He finally backed off and ordered the color that we wanted. Again, other than this complaint, the work was outstanding.

I received a bid from James Roofing and several others. James Roofing is apparently a family business with son Mark preparing to take over the operation. I met Mark, his Dad, and a cousin - all very pleasant. We discussed various items that I wanted done in addition to the roofing. I ended up going with another contractor though. That contractor had looked at the whole house and therefore was already aware of the other concerns that I had on the roof. I got the impression that James Roofing had just estimated the roof size & prepared a quick bid rather than checking the whole house and being ready to discuss all of my needs. In my humble opinion, I think that James Roofing will do a bit better (at least in bidding) once Dad is out of the picture. No disrespect, but I got the feeling that he has done this for so long that his input to the bidding was kind of "off the cuff", like 'Yea. we do all that' instead of a more formal and detailed bid like Mark would be more likely to present. 'Dad' kept telling me about all the discounts and wonderful price that Mark was giving me, but (having several other bids to compare to) I found them to be right in line with all of my other bids. All-in-all, a good company. I just chose to go with someone else.
