TESSIER'S INC

I am thoroughly pleased with the HVAC work that was done for me by Tessier's. (I have no stock in this company or in Lennox or Aprilaire.) My older air conditioner was noisy and I wanted a quieter, more efficient unit installed. I also wanted a new whole house MERV 16 air filtration system installed concurrently. After researching the Lennox equipment that I was considering, I contacted Tessier's to have Dan Larson, their Rapid City Project Manager, come to my house to define the scope of work and determine the installation price. A statement of work and total cost was provided to me by mail for approval before work was started. Dan is a great guy to work with. A 25 per cent down payment was required for an effort of this scope. The installation crew arrived on time on the scheduled job date and they completed the work efficiently. They had to do some minor duct work to accommodate the new Air Filtration unit, and they hauled away the old air conditioner. (I asked them to set aside the old copper piping for me so I could sell it to a scrap metal dealer, and the crew did so.) Since I have a long dryer duct, I also contracted for Tessier's to install a dryer booster fan in that duct that same day. The technicians were professional, polite, and patiently answered my questions both during and after equipment installation. I earlier had Tessier's install an Aprilaire whole house humidifier that works well in the heating seasons to maintain relative humidity of about 40 per cent. That work was also done on schedule and efficiently. The new air conditioner is much quieter than my old unit, and it cools my house efficiently. The whole house air filtration system not only filters out particulates, but removes odors (as it is designed to do). The whole house humidifier generally keeps relative humidity between 35 and 45 per cent. I have contracted to have Tessier's technicians check my HVAC installation in spring and fall to ensure air conditioning and heating are working properly. I do filter replacement and humidifier parts replacements myself as parts are less expensive on line. I would wholeheartedly recommend Tessier's to anyone contemplating installation or servicing of an HVAC system or its components. Lennox equipment is not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Had estimate done for new furnace/air conditioner. Did not feel the one sent was knowledgable. He talked far too much - didn't seem very professional.

Was having an issue with the A/C unit icing up. My regular service tech determined that the malfunctioning part was something that required a certified Lennox warranty shop needed to handle. Tessier's is the local Lennox warranty dealer and also the installer of the system. They came out promptly but the Tessier's tech determined is was apparently not the part first suspected by merely a malfunctioning thermostat which they changed out. Unfortunately, I cannot know for sure if this was the true problem until next summer when the A/C will be used. I am giving the benefit of the doubt but time will ultimately tell. First - the good: They were prompt. Seemed professional and sounded competent. They bad: The price! They charged me $330 for this. To replace a thermostat! A typical price for a service call in the area is $70-$90 and the cost of a thermostat of the quality they installed is maybe $100 (likely they pay much lower with their wholesale/contractor pricing). So - it appears they charged me in the neighborhood of $240-$260 for the part. Seems outrageous! To summarize - Based on service quality they seem fine and I would use them again, but their price/cost seems really out of line. If I use them in the future, I will only do so with firm bids and other measures taken to ensure I cannot be taken advantage again on pricing.
