Master Tailor & Alterations

The dress straps were altered as requested and the seam was repaired. The workmanship looked good. However, the missing button was replaced with a completely unmatched button. Val (owner & tailor) told me (repeatedly) that she does "exquisite work" and didn't have time to go searching for a matching button. She said no one would notice it. Since she charged $10 for just the work related to the button, it seemed reasonable to me to expect at least a similar-appearing button. A smooth, pearly white shank button (thread not visible) was replaced with a beige, 4-holed flat button with visible thread. She simply could have told me from the start that she preferred not to work on buttons. I could have done that portion myself. She had my garments for over 2 weeks, and charged an extra $11 over her initial quote. She was not willing to replace the button with a matched button. Perhaps this sounds trivial, but I hired her to do custom alterations, which she agreed to do when I dropped off the garments. It was Val's attitude and lousy customer service that was most troubling.
