Ty worked hard to get our business - wined and dined us. He insisted on all materials paid up front **that should have been a red flag as this was not a big job AND he asked that 1/2 of labor be paid upfront**A really big red flag. Then rest of labor to be paid when job started. After we signed a weak contract and paid money up front, we could not get him to return calls - honeymoon was over. As all remodels go, timelines were pushed. We had met the tiler and I check area people and he had a good reputation. When the time finally came, they did not show. Calls were not returned, voice mailboxes were full and we became worried. We took time off work and continued to pursue. Finally, Ty showed up with a helper and tiled the small 1/2 bath and relatively short time. He told me the "real" tiler would finish up the shower etc. Date of shower install came and went and we went in hot pursuit again. Ty finally shows up with installer we do not know and a language barrier. He is left to finish the job. I continued to supervise the job and ask for corrections. When shower and floor (with heat) were finished, the tile group disappeared. No review of the job, just gone. My electricians pulled the wire and put in the theromostat for floor heat just to save me. The shower had grout left on it and was sealed; grout was sprayed on outside of house and windows, product and tiles were abandoned for me to clean or dispose of. We continued to pursue again to get the grout cleaned, floors resealed. We brought in the distributor for the Schluter shower system that was installed to review the installation methods we saw used and we continued to pursue Ty. When we told him the balance of $1000 would not be paid until we were satisfied, our calls were returned. To satisify the requirements they showed up again. The shower was sanded and resealed but he was going to come back to do the floors. I told him he had until 5 pm to complete what we had agreed upon and would not be allowed onsite again. Again, we took off work and pursued him. Ty was allabout the sale but no follow through. Bait and switch all the way through. Ever heard this one: All hat and no cattle? That's him.
