A & E Plumbing

Everything was done wrong. Multiple things had to be reaccomplished and even failed state inspection. Did not correct errors until I called attorney and lost my temper with them. They even sent me a final bill before all the installation is complete. Their tech sat around my building reading an instruction manual for three days trying to figure out how to turn the heating system on. I've never seen anything this terrible before. The contractor installing my walls even had to order more materials because they installed the plumbing that would be inside the walls crooked. A normal 2 x 4 stud would not work because they pipes were not perpendicular to the outside walls. I've never worked with a company that has been this terrible before.

Great! My son asked if he needed help getting our old water heater out and he said, "no".

This was a very positive experience. The estimate was lower than others we checked and the timeline was much shorter. Very friendly and did quality work.

The faucet replacements went well, no problems. The problems arose when I inquired about having further work done. I placed several calls asking if they could replace my bathtub. This would include some sub-flooring repair so I asked if they could provide/sub-contract a carpenter. Despite several calls to them, they did not even bother to return my calls. If they didn't want to do the work for me, a simple call to inform me of that fact would have been the professional thing to do. I would have been happy to have them perform the additional work, but not if they can't even be bothered to return several phone calls.

First, they were available when everyone else told me it would be three days (this isn't always a good sign, but in this case it was.) They are easy to schedule and have been very good at communicating when they would arrive. The services have been performed quickly and professionally. Clean up after services has been good. My only concern is that they really don't give estimates, but I haven't had any concerns with bills I felt were excessive given the time spent on the job.

Ken showed up and checked the leak. He was able to fix it very quickly. Have not had more leaks.

It was a very simple job. But A&E returned my call quickly, and I had an appointment set up for the next day in short order. They also made sure waiting a day was an option. They'd have gotten someone over sooner if my problem couldn't wait until the next day. The tech arrived exactly on time, and had my problem fixed quickly. Nice guy, too. To top it off, the bill was less than I expected. A&E will be the first place I contact the next time I need work done. Tough to judge the quality of their work on such a small fix, but all my other impressions were good.

A & E came in and hooked up new sink and fixed another sink. He arrived promptly, in fact was a little early for the appointment. The plumber was very professional. About two or three weeks later my hot water heater died. Again, arrived promptly, installation seemed to go well and we have hot water. Yay! In each case I discussed the charges with A & E over the phone. They do the work and then bill. In each case the billing conformed to what I was told on the phone. I will use them again and have recommended them to others.

When the technician arrived, he insisted that the toilet just needed to be augered. Despite me telling him that I did it multiply times and it was quick to clog again, he tried multiple times as well. Once he came to the conclusion that the problem wasn't as simple as he thought, then he took the toilet out and found the blockage in the pipe. After that, it was fixed pretty quickly and he put a new seal under the toilet. I also asked him about the small leak from my upstairs shower, and he informed me that it just needed to be sealed around the spout. And told me just to go get some caulk and do it my self. But it was easy enough. Although he did break my drain plug for the shower when looking for the leak.

After the installation the technician explained that I may have issues due to water pressure in the entire system. It was explained that If I had issues I should contact them again and they would sell me another chamber to absorb the over pressure if it happens. A week after install I did have a leak, I looked at the installation and found that the technician DID NOT install plumbers tape on the hot water return pipe. I fixed it myself and am not having any more problems. they were trying to get future business by doing shoddy work. I will not use them again.

My outdoor faucet froze and broke over the winter. The technican had to cut through some sheetrock to get to the faucet. He made a very neat 6"X 6" square hole which will be easy for me to install an access door. The whole process took 30 minutes. All communications with A&E were pleasant and professional. The cost for the new faucet was about $45. The labor charge was $130 which I feel is a bit high for 30 min. of work. I am however happy with the overall service and would use them again.

The service was extremely responsive. I sent a message through Angie's list and received a prompt message in return. They were able to come out the next morning. The plumber ran late, but gave me a call to let me know how far out he was and that he was on his way. Which I really appreciated. He came out, evaluated the problem, and determined that the pipe did not properly close and needed to be replaced. Next, he went to the store to find a replacement pipe. Once he replaced it, the leak became a steady flow. He told me that he could fix it quickly, but he would have to cut into the drywall and I would have to find someone to patch a 12x12 hole in the drywall. I let him know that I would get a second opinion and he offered to plug the steady stream of water flowing outside of my house. I asked him if he thought it would be safe since we live in SD and it tends to freeze. He told me that he didn't think it would get below freezing anymore (it was March) and it should not be a problem. I let him know that I would contact someone for a second opinion to see if there was a way to either have someone fix the drywall or repair the pipe without cutting into the house. Later, I received a bill in the mail for $198. This was upsetting because I paid someone to make the problem worse. I contacted by home builder and he sent someone out that was able to fix the problem in less than 15 mins free of charge.

These guys are great. Always show up in a very timely manner and show care and professionalism the whole time.

The individual was professional, spend about 30 minutes if that, hated to charge me for the hour since he only had to tighten the water main bolt. I would call the company again.

Overall, i thought A& E did a good job. I thought the pricing was consistent with with estimates I got from other providers. He was right on time, called ahead and did the work in a punctual manner. I would definitely call them again. My only issue was that the plumber could not give me an estimate of cost at the time he finished, saying that i would have to wait until the office calculated it. I thought that was unusual that a plumber with that much experience could not give me at least a rough estimate knowing his hourly cost and the cost of the faucet he had just purchased. Just a minor thing though, and I would hire them again.

Their service went well. They were prompt, and they were professional. They did a good job!

After setting up the installation by phone and one missed appointment I was very happy with the professional installation of my new Frigidere Dishawasher. The old one was taken away at no charge as well, and I had my hot water heater evaluated for possible replacement installation and old removal in the future. The A&E repair person also indicated to me that my basement had been roughed-in for a bathroom in the future. I was happy to find that out. All-in-all I would recommend A&E to anyone, and was very pleased with the result. My dishwasher works great!

I set up an appointment to have a simple leak fixed. They did not show. So, I called the office and asked why they hadn't showed up. They stated they had lost my information and didn't know how to contact me. They told me they would make sure someone was there the next day to fix the leak. I then gave them all my information again. He did show up the next day; but he seemed to be in a hurry and really didn't want to spend to much time on it. I was not impressed with the finished work. I no longer have a leak, but the repair looks terrible. I'll be calling another plumber to get it fixed properly.

Plumber arrived promptly and worked quickly. Worked clean and removed all trash. Did a great job. My only complaint was with the billing. This company charges by the hour, not the job and they made two errors on the bill. They charged for 6 hours instead of 5 and forgot to include the 10% new customer discount from Angie's List. When these errors were brought to their attention, they promptly supplied a revised invoice. I would definitely hire them again.

I called for two appointments. They called back when they could come over (gave my wife about 15 minutes notice), which ended up being okay - maybe not ideal though. First time they told me what I needed. Second time they came in and installed what I bought. They did a good job on the installation - have had no problems (though it's only been a couple of weeks). My wife said they were nice.

Arrived said the plastic pipe was leaking and he could repair it but for a little more he could replace it with real piping. I took his advice and had it replaced.

A & E came the same day, which was pretty impressive. They are easy to work with, and their prices are always cheaper than anybody else. They are a smaller company, and they don't have receptionist. You leave a message, and they call you back. They are probably the only plumbers out there that I would use, and I absolutely will use them again.

repairman removed and installed water heater in approx 2 hours...very efficient.
