ABSOLUTELY BEWARE! I installed painted cabinets in May 2021. By Feb 2022 they were chipping. Ever since, have been trying to work with the supplier and Showplace's rep to understand and rectify the issue. And the problems are getting MUCH worse. The paint literally will peel off if you use gentle painter's tape or even run your soft finger over an edge. It looks as if my cabinets are 20 years old and I am an extremely light user of my kitchen. My contractor and Showplace's own painter who assessed the situation agree it is adhesion problem. But Showplace keeps coming up with one excuse after another for not having any responsibility. They are claiming that mine is a "unique" issue, but now I see reviews on many sites stating this very same experience. There clearly is a manufacturing defect on painted cabinets. And Showplace does NOT stand behind its warranty. It's really disappointing because I love my kitchen overall and the cabinets are so functional. Sadly, if you are in the market for painted cabinets ... buyer beware. I am happy to share details and pictures of what I have been experiencing.

The product finish is horrible. It is so thin that it rubs off easily. The rep was rude and unbelievably unprofessional. Customer Service was also dismissive. We demand replacement draw and doors on day one. 4 months later we received them and the quality is worst than the originals. We now have to file legal action agains Showplace. This company is a scam.

What a nightmare! --- Do your research before you buy from this company. Others have had the same problems that we did. ---- We ordered Showplace Cabinetry through Designed by Julie in Midland MI. Our kitchen required 25-30 cabinets for our renovation project. With this many cabinets we expected there might be some dings that would need to be replaced. We didn't expect that the company would send damaged replaced materials at least 5 more times. We actually finished the renovation before the cabinets were fixed. ISSUE 1: A warped cabinet door is OK with this company - up to 1/4 inch. The doors do not - in their measure of quality - need to lie flush against the cabinet. ISSUE 2: We chose an all white finish. The finish chips when you try to release the shelf from the shelving clips. The company knows this is an issue and our designer knows this is an issue. She sent us replacement clips for the factory issue ones. ISSUE 3: The cabinets have adjustable shelves. The shelf clips are inserted in holes drilled into the inside of the cabinets. - Well, that's how it is supposed to work. Two of our cabinets only had the holes drilled a small fraction of what is necessary to secure the shelf anchor. The manufacturer's inspectors clearly noted this because the only holes in these cabinets drilled to full depth were the ones that actually held the shelves during shipment. I think they needed to drill the holes manually and didn't bother with the rest. ISSUE 4: At least 6 additional cabinets seemed to have a similar problem to a lesser degree. The clips were too loose to stay in the shallow hole until a shelf stabilized the clip. This means that you need to hold 4 clips and a shelf at the same time to adjust the shelf. This manufacturer evidently thinks that we all have 5 arms. Ultimately the company had to recut the inside panels for every cabinet and our designer had to glue those panels in and recut each shelf to fit. This meant that we had to empty 3/4 of our cabinets and reload them. ISSUE 5: We needed to have some doors replaced because they were dinged or warped. It took this company 5 tries to get the parts to us because they don't have a reliable packing method to send their product by freight. Ultimately it needed to be driven by their own truck from South Dakota to Michigan to the designer's store and the designer hand-delivered the pieces to our house. ---- At the end of the day, these products were sold to us as higher end but our experience with just the installation leaves us wondering if they will even last a year. Any kitchen renovation is disruptive, the last thing you want is a company that cant even deliver a usable product while you are trying to get on with your life. Was there an apology when this situation was finally acknowledged? There was a weak, "This is a high-end line..." from our designer. No word from Showplace. I guess we were supposed to be grateful for getting what we paid for to begin with. There was certainly no gesture of good will for the trouble we had.--- Will we go with this company again? Not on your life. The cardboard box used to ship the cabinets was of better quality and weathered the shipping process better than the cabinets themselves. We have pictures of the broken pieces that were left behind by the design after their retrofitting efforts. Again, what a nightmare.

The sales service at Showplace Wood Products Inc. was good, everything came on time and we didn't have any issues with the cabinets. They were really good.

I haven't got the cabinets installed yet- are waiting for them still, but everything is coming in on time and as expected. It has been great to know I can work with people who understand the whole process- more than I do, so they can suggest any changes necessary, or alert me to any problem. They haven't pushed their own design preference on me, but have worked with me to make my ideas come to life.
