Initially, they promised they could switch our service and retain our existing phone number. However, when we said yes, then they could not accomplish this (apparently monumental) task. After canceling the order, then talking to other sales and tech people, they promised they could still keep the number but it might take a little longer. So we signed up again. In the process of installing cable TV and internet, the technician could not finish the phone work due to a technical problem. Throughout the whole process, the on-site tech was the only human we worked with in person. He was Wonderful. He is probably the only reason we did not abort the mission and cancel it all-- the rest was that bad. When you call their tech support line, you only get a robo tech. They try to force you into their automated tech tree regardless of your issue. It's quite impressive, but I never have an easy problem. After two weeks of false appointments, where their robo dispatch did not actually send anyone, they cancelled our previous phone service twice and left us desperately calling both our old and new (Mediacom) provider to try to resolve the issue. They would cancel our old phone but not send anyone to connect the new one. Both times we were without a land line, the best they could do was to promise to come out 'next week' to fix it. Again-- if not for the on-site tech giving me his personal cell phone number, we would have cancelled. Hats off to the on-site tech. In the end, they got everything installed. For the most part it works as promised. The free, unlimited long distance runs over the internet so you get an annoying 1/2-second delay on sound. It makes you feel like you are talking to Russia, or maybe the moon.
Description of Work: We hired Mediacom to provide our total solution for Cable TV, phone, long distance, and internet. They are very competitively priced with the lowest package (which we bought) for only $50 per month for the whole bundle. This package only includes about 20 channels but it does have all our local stuff for weather, school closings, etc. Our previous package from our local phone and long distance provider was over $60 per month and did not include TV or internet-- who knew?!? They promised to switch our local phone number and install cable TV and internet with a wireless hub.
