Anything residential from remodeling, the new additions to whole homes. May hire additional employees or sub contractors depending on the job. Charges by half day & daily rates or by the square foot for bigger jobs. No travel/trip charges.
Overall project experience was disappointing. Oversold and underperformed. Likable guy but does not live up to expectations. Very much the same experience as Connie had (see her review). work started more or less on schedule, but the progress was slow. A flurry of work by one sub then nothing for weeks. After some prodding/nagging, another sub would show up or an excuse that "can't find a sub to do that work yet" would happen. Some of the workmanship was adequate, some of it was less than adequate. Jobsite cleanup was non-existent. After getting tired of looking at the mess, I ended up cleaning the site and hauling off construction waste and contractor's personal trash (cans, bottles, food wrappers, etc). No apologies and no compensation was offered. The project finally was completed although some of the punchlist work was never completed to my satisfaction - I ended up having to finish the work myself. While the finished garage looks nice, there are issues that I know will come back to haunt me down the road. Several neighbors have asked if I would recommend Spargo and regrettably I've said NO. I DEFINITELY would NOT recommend this contractor and would not use them again for any project in the future.

Response from Spargo Construction
•This is a retaliatory review. We took legal action against the client for nonpayment•Few progress payments were made on time. Multiple trips had to be made to collect payments•Siding labor was contractually provided, no material. We had to purchase more material. He refused to pay for that•We asked multiple times for a punchlist. He told us to make it ourselves. We did, took pictures, made corrections, documented it•When the project was finished, punchlist completed, final inspection approved by the county on 9/22/23, no payment made•Over 5 months, more requests. Client offered 25% of final payment (1,395 of 4400), due to nonexistent issues.I turned the matter over to my attorney, 3/11/24 payment was received•We never were paid for siding material nor material and labor provided to address a 12 foot sinkhole•Building inspection reports show the date of the first footing inspection as 5/18/23. Final inspection was scheduled to be done on 9/12/23 but failed due to work the client had performed on electrical phase. He corrected and the final was completed on 9/22/23.•Project was completed in 120 day estimate•There were no significant delays on this project. We encountered a 12 foot sinkhole while digging footings. There was a mason ready to go, but we were bumped off his schedule due to the time lost with the county assessing the sinkhole, clearing the hole, and filling the sinkhole.•Once that issue was resolved and the new mason began, work proceeded as planned.•There were really no other significant delays on the project.•There were several failed inspections on work client did. We made several site visits to advise on changes, uncompensated •Client brought in a ‘cheaper’ concrete contractor to do work in our scope. Contractor did great•Client was informed in advance we would not be responsible for the final grading at new drive & approach.Final grading & positive water flow passed inspection. •All refutations to client’s claims can be verified with pics, inspection reports & comments. Garage is gorgeous.

Great Christian owner; however, time, quality and cleanup of site less than desirable. Took almost 2 years to get the addition built (800 sq Ft) come and go workers, sometimes they show up, sometimes weeks pass without hearing a word. Very excited to work with them initially, but then the extreme amount of excuses for things became frustrating. Felt bad for project manager, he was often put in challenging situations. Husband and I had to do cleanup from workers otherwise cups, trash, and debris would just sit for weeks. They say they warranty work but I’m not impressed nor have faith they’d keep their word or show up. Spent a lot of money for a less than perfect result once things done. Yes, passed inspections, but the proof is when you start using the space and start to see all the things where they skimped or tried to fix cracked woodwork in door frames with patching instead of replacing; crawl space insulation not installed correctly and now just hangs. Never came back out to fix. hate leaving this review as I really like them personally, but not to ever do work for us again.

Overall process was good. Of course any addition requires planning and decision making.
Description of Work: Converted deck into screen porch. Was a difficult roof to tie new roofline on to old roof. Did a great job, was easy to work with. Would highly recommend.

He is good and he is very flexible. He can do lots of different things. He was certainly up there in professionalism. His pricing is fair. I think he could be a little bit more organized. The quality is very good.
Description of Work: Spargo Construction extended our bar area and rearranged our furniture and appliances. They put in a new door also.

The owner is Shane Spargo. He can do anything. He has been working for us off and on for the past year. I work with him time and materials. He charges us $ 200 for a day. I bought some land vases which he painted and made the inner work so that we could attach hoses because we have water pretty far away from the main house. We have a party house down in the dark and he is building in a stove. I had a small stove so he is framing in that for me and extending the kitchen area a bit. He is very creative but he is not well organized sometimes. Price wise I think he is reasonable. He does a variety of things for $200 a day. He also built the whole roof and we had to shove up our dark house so he completely reconfigured it. Then he shoved all that up and we had piling put in. He is pretty versatile. But I don’t want him to get very busy. Quality wise he is very good and I am pretty fussy. As for responsiveness I have led him kind of take up other jobs like sometimes he gets a big roofing job, then he can do things here when he is not so busy. He does not always manage time real well. Punctuality wise he put in 8 hours. He does not always come in at 8.30 or 9 O’clock in the morning. He might stop off and pick up some materials whatever. Professionally he does not always clean up after himself. That is probably the only negative. I really like him. He has been working for us for so long. He is great and his family is lovely, and I like him to be more professional but I don’t want to hurt his feeling. I will continue to use his services in the future.
Description of Work: Last week I had Spargo Construction to put up picket fence, built a lovely little harbor, put some rail road ties around the walk away and ran a water line. He also painted some land vases. He is building in a stove in our party house and extending the kitchen area there a bit. I pay him $200 a day.
