I contacted Adam 4 days before purchasing the deal on Angies List to ask about his schedule/availability. I did not receive a call back. 4 days later, I went ahead and purchased the deal to schedule the consultation anyway. I figured that, perhaps, Adam only calls you back once you have an established relationship. I liked the idea that (with the purchased deal) he would create a design and a set of renderings of a deck that would work in my space. I figured that it was worth the money to have a design in hand that I could then work from as I meet with different builders. It seemed likely that, if I liked Adam, I would use him for the construction. And if his pricing seemed exorbitant, I could use the drawings to compare costs with other builders. I purchased the deal on Friday and received an email to call Adam directly to schedule a time to meet. I left him another message, and received a call back 3 days later. When he called, he explained that he would not be making any technical drawings of the deck. He explained that he did not have the software to create any computer-generated specs. He said, however, that he would sketch out a plan that we could work from. He apologized if the Angie's List ad was misleading by emphasizing the professional drawings as if they might be CAD generated or otherwise. They would simply be sketches and measurements. I accepted that, and we agreed to meet 10 days later at my home on Friday August 28th at 10 AM. Adam did not show up, nor call to cancel or reschedule. My policy is not to call a contractor to remind them to show up at our first scheduled appointment. To me, if they cannot follow up responsibly on a simple commitment without my oversight, the likelihood of their performing the work responsibly is appreciably less. At this point, I would not use this particular provider or recommend him to others.

Did not respond to several requests to bid a job.

We are contemplating remodeling 4 bathrooms, kitchen and screened in porch. after carefully reviewing profiles and reviews on Angies list I called on May 28, 2015 and left a voice mail for Adam. I advised we were looking at remodeling and wanted to know if Affordable Home Concepts would be interested in reviewing the project. It is now June 5th and I never received a follow up call. Not sure why..perhaps they are too busy but would have like a courtesy call acknowledging my request.

We selected Adam Dutton because he seemed to have the best grasp of what needed to be done to solve the water problems that had rotted both an exterior and interior portion of our house. We didn't know what to expect when siding was removed to reveal unseen damage. After seeing the hidden damage, Adam clearly explained what had to be done and offered us a very fair price for this repair. His crews were very capable, polite, and well supervised. Work was completed even before the completion date he had calculated and we were very pleased by the results. I would definatelly hire him again and recommend him to my friends.

We had water damage in our kitchen because of a leaking pipe. We already had the water cleaned up, which meant part of our laminate wood floors and cabinets were ripped out. When I described the problem to Adam on the phone, he really didn't seem like he wanted to come out to look/give an estimate. He asked me questions like, "Is the flooring discontinued?" and "Where would you find a match?", which I would think HE should be able to tell ME after coming out. Eventually he told me that he guessed it was best for him to come out and take a look (which was the whole point of my calling), since he "probably couldn't match it over the phone." That comment made no sense to me at all- who matches floor samples over the phone?!- so I got off the phone and never called back. I'm not sure if the issue was that he didn't want to provide a quote, didn't want to travel out to our home (though, as he pointed out, we live very close to him), or if he didn't do repairs like I described. Either way, I was baffled by the lack of professionalism and his lack of interest in the job.

I was at first impressed by the punctuality of the team, but by the end of the job I was just IMPRESSED!!! My house was old and a real eyesore before, but now it is the prettiest house on the block! Adam's team were punctual, clean, efficient, precise and so professional. They finished the job on time and performed with such attention to detail. I will never want to use another contractor!

In my experience, it is hard to find contractors in Atlanta that are afforable, and provide quality work, and stay on schedule. Adam does just that! I contacted Adam about adding a deck to the back of our one story ranch. From my initial contact with Adam he was very responsive. Right away he set up a time to meet me at the house for an estimate and let me know that he could get started on the project the following week. He helped me decide on the size and layout of our new deck and made me feel comfortable that I would get quality work. He sent me an email with the estimate and some photos of his past work that evening. My husband wanted me to get a second estimate to compare prices, so we did that and Adam's ended up being a much better price. I was also impressed with his professionalism and responsiveness so we decided to go with him for our deck project. On Thursday I told Adam that we'd like to go ahead with the project. He came by to pick up the deposit on that day, materials were delivered on Friday and work began on following Monday. The project was complete by Tuesday evening. Even with a delay on Monday morning due to rain, his crew worked until dark both days to get everything done quickly. Adam was onsite with his crew throughout the two days, giving guidance and making sure the work was done correctly. Their work was very precise and you can tell that they are skilled in carpentry. I was also blown away by how much attention to detail they paid with the deck support. It is secured to the house, posts are cemented in, and the quality of materials is very good. Our new deck feels very solid and sturdy and I know we will enjoy it for years to come. Adam and his crew were polite, cleaned up after the work and made me feel totally comfortable. They asked me along the way for clarification on several things related to the design of the deck (stair placement and rail height) to make sure I'd be happy with the final product. I really appreciated this, because I now have exactly what I wanted in the deck. I would definitely recommend talking to Adam about any remodeling projects you have in mind. His experience and expertise were very refreshing to work with and we will definitely call him again for future needs.

The estimate was very reasonable, but there were a couple of disconnects in communication that caused us to change our plans. The first disconnect was the delivery of the estimate, which we had to remind him of several days after he said we would have it. The second disconnect was the day that service was supposed to begin, when we left a voice mail but did not hear back until the evening explaining that he had fallen ill. We understand that misfortune happens, but the lack of communication was a concern for us. He seemed to understand that fact, and I believe he would probably not have these issues for future customers.

Affordable Home Concepts, led by Adam Dunton, recently completed an addition to our home. In approximately 3 months, they added: master bedroom, mater bathroom, walk-in closet, kitchen nook, office nook and a new roof for our existing house. Adam and his crew were friendly, kept the job site neat and were very considerate of us as we were living in the home while the work was being done. We are very pleased with the quality of the work and felt that we were kept well informed throughout the entire process. Adam is a hard worker, takes pride in his work and wants to do a good job for his customer. We discussed a budget and allowances were given for certain items. Adam guided us on where to look for flooring, bathroom vanities and closet organizers ? we picked it out, he purchased and then installed. He also brought samples of some products (ex: roofing tiles). There were a lot of decisions to be made and he made the process as easy as can be. Most of the renovated space had hardwood floors installed and they did a great job matching our existing hardwood floors. I was also very pleased that we were able to keep our exposed brick in the office ? Adam realized that this was important to us and made it happen! Adam built a custom bench for our kitchen nook and exceeded my expectations on his craftsmanship. He also installed a great closet organizer. Overall we were very pleased with the finished product and would highly recommend Affordable Home Concepts!

I had a kitchen faucet leak under my kitchen sink resulting in a warped floor. Affordable Home Concepts took out the old floor, and rebuilt a grid for the base, Then they put a floor in using painted plywood. It was a very professional installation, and if my faucet leaks in the future, and I have the same problem, I would only have to replace a small portion of the floor. Adam was punctual, his craftsmanship was excellent, and he totally cleaned up the area. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs carpentry work completed.

The service was excellent. There was no problem scheduling the appointment. We thought the price was reasonable. I would recommend them. They were able to come in a timely manner, they were very professional, and did a very good job.

Adam and his team did an excellent job. He had to climb up very high on my house and then work up there. He redesigned how the rain water would flow and then replaced all of the rotted wood and then painted it. He did a fantastic job. I have subsequently hired him to do work on my rental property which turned out A+ as well.

All in all, Adam's team did wonderful work. We are very pleased with the end product, and are happy to have a new space in our basement that feels just as homey as the rest of the house. Adam repeatedly checked in with us to let us know what his team was working on, and when he expected them to be complete. They finished a week or two ahead of schedule. The only downside to the construction was the dust and fumes from the construction reaching upstairs. However, I'm not sure that this could have been avoided. We feel like we received a good value for the work that was done. I would recommend Affordable Carpentry By Design to my friends and family.

They showed up on time every day. Their quality of work met my highest expectations! I would recommend them to anyone. I would rate them as "superior" on any scale. I collaborated with Adam every day, and he made sure everything was done to my exact specifications. Thank you for your expertise, skill, craftsmanship, and professionalism!!

We were unable to get this schedule between both of our schedules.

After recently purchasing our home in Roswell, we noticed a leak in the bathroom. We called mold specialists who cut out the dry wall and base boards and treated the area with fans. My wife and I agreed it was a good idea to get estimates to repair dry wall and boards in the bathroom, in addition to other miscellaneous issues that were addressed in our home inspection. These issues included: 1) a crack under the bathroom window; 2) wood rot on both sides of the porch where the gutters met the roof; 3) sealing holes and gaps with mortar where the porch floor met the home and was letting in water; 4) issues with the gutter not stopping water from deluging upon the porch floor; 5) wood rot on siding and boards of the chimney; and 4) all windows were painted shut. We also wanted a new light fixture installed. We found Adam of Affordable Carpentry by Design on Angie's List, as well as other contractors to solicit estimates. The day after explaining the issues we wanted resolved, Adam was at our home to perform a comprehensive review of the issues. He took the time to explain what needed to be done to fix the issues and, importantly, what didn?t need to be done. He also made recommendations on issues that needed to be resolved to maintain the roof?s health in the long term. In addition to the issues we initially wanted done, it was apparent that our gutter guards needed to be removed as they were not originally installed correctly. Adam was patient and responsive to our numerous questions. He explained his estimate thoroughly. We signed the contract with Adam on a Monday, and he and his crew were at our home that Wednesday. Adam and his crew were an absolute pleasure in every regard. They would always answer our questions as to the work they were performing, and their progress; they were never dismissive, only polite and personable. As noted above, there were some issues with the porch and rain water going over the gutters and onto the porch. After the work was complete, during the first rain (over two weeks later) we noticed that the water was leaking on the brick façade behind the replaced wood rotted area. I called Adam that afternoon, sent him pictures of the leak and, that following morning, he had his roofer at our home to address the issue, which turned out to be a deficiency in the flashing requiring removal and installation of new shingles. Adam took no additional payment for the repairs. Payment was not accepted unless we were fully satisfied with the result, and he encouraged us to observe the work, which we did. We could not have been happier with the result. The dry wall in the bathroom and under the window is seamless, and the paint job was a perfect match. The wood rot has been eradicated and replaced. There is no leakage in the porch area during the heaviest of deluges. Adam is a consummate professional and we highly recommend him. We felt comfortable every step of the way. While his crew was performing work, we expressed our desire to renovate our master and guest bathrooms, as well as our kitchen cabinetry in the future. His expertise in this realm of contracting is apparent. He understood our vision and his eye for design and wealth of ideas is fantastic. We will definitely be calling on Adam to perform other repairs in the future, as well as our bathrooms and kitchen. We are ecstatic to have found a contractor who is patient, responsive, honest, deliberate and prideful in his work, and a true pleasure.

Adam was really great to work with. He got back to us quickly after first contact, answered our many questions, worked with us on budget, and got started on the project right away. Adam is hands on and was on site daily to oversee all the sub contractors. His crew works quickly and efficiently and were all really nice. We were living in our house during the renovation and they made is as easy as possible on us. There were a few minor hiccups along the way as we had changed a lot of details in the blueprints so were working from 2 sets of plans but everything was resolved quickly without any hassle. We are SO happy with our new kitchen and living spaces-it is a really dramatic transformation. We will definitely be contacting him again in the future when we renovate other areas.

Did not go well. First thing I was told was that he was not sure if he wanted to do the job because he was not sure if he could make profit. He was not even aware of the job. Was very turned off by his lack of professionalism.

Great!!! two and a half days. ( always rain when you don't want it) Had questions or concerns and if Adam wasn't on site I could talk to his guys and they would give me an answer or let Adam know about it . (peace of heart to know its all good). The work was done, The deck looks great, All was cleaned up.

I bought a deal for $149 for 4 hours of wood rot restoration. Adam Dutton was very good about contacting me, and after some back and forth, we got a date when he would come the next day. Adam came over early in the morning when he said he would and told me what materials he would need. He went and got them and then two of his crew finished the job. They took care of it quickly and thoroughly, and one of the gentlemen even got a window open that had been stuck a very long time. They fixed a rotten corner on one window and replaced the sill on the other one, then painted all around the window so there wouldn't be a noticeable difference. It looks great, I would recommend them and be happy to have them back to do another job.

Adam and his staff were outstanding for the work they did. Provided a quote quickly for the work I requested, always showed up on time and quickly finished the short punchlist we had at the end of the project. Adam was a pleasure to work with.

The work completed was exactly as described...very efficient and extremely proficient on all counts, and since I am not looking for "bargain-basement" deals on Angie's List (why go cheap on such an important investments one's own residence) but rather strong reviews...this was certainly a successful transaction with the end results I was expecting as a paying customer. Would I recommend this company? Absolutely. Would I hire them for their services again? Of course. Quality craftmanship and good business relationships within one's own surrounding community has become a rare commodity... Affordable Carpentry By Design just raised the bar for their competitors, and as a professional with 34 years experience in the hospitality and lodging industry...that is high praise indeed. Customer satisfaction is the only thing important at the end of the day.

Affordable carpentry did not show up for initial meeting to discuss project. I called to follow up and received response from another firm which was not connected/ formally subcontracted by affordable carpentry. ( This was based on referral from Affordable carpentry) To make long story short we finally received commitment from affordable carpentry that they would honor the proposal and decided to proceed although proposal not very detailed. When I happened to ask about disposal/ clean up fees I was told that there would be additional fees which were not previously disclosed on proposal. We chose another provider who had provided us with an all inclusive price which offered less potential for surprises. Lesson learned from this was - details matter and don't assume anything.
