I gave him $300.00 up front, and he rearranged some of the ducts, but the situation barely improved. I asked him for a refund, but he refused to provide one. The work was not guaranteed. He did nothing, and I was out $300.00.
Description of Work: I have one area of my house sectioned off as an apartment. We have central air, and very little air was coming through some of those ducts.

Response from TROUBLESHOOTER A/C AND REFRIGERATION
This customer was told up front that simply rearranging the ductwork would not add much more airflow and that he needed additional cooling installed. He opted to have the ductwork modification that WE DID NOT RECOMMEND and expected there to be significantly different airflow and temperatures. This was not a case of us not standing by our work...this was a customer trying to get a job done as cheaply as possible and then not being satisfied with the result.

My A/C unit died late Friday afternoon on the hottest weekend of the year (102 degrees). I and thousands of other people in the same boat found it almost impossible to get weekend service. I did find another company to come out on Saturday who said the system was manufactured by a company no longer in business, was so old that it could not be repaired and would have to be replaced with a brand new system to the tune of approximately $5,000. Since nothing could be done before Monday, I scouted the internet and found that the manufacturer was, in fact, still in business. I then tracked down the manufacturing date and the installation date. Turns out not only was the system not that old, but was still under warranty. I also found the company that originally installed the system. Troubleshooter sent out a tech Monday afternoon, ordered parts for the next day and completed the repair on Tuesday. My only charge was their normal diagnostic fee. Company was completely responsive, kept me informed about when tech would arrive and when the work would be finished. One of the first things I read about H&A companies, especially when looking at expensive repairs is to get a second opinion. I highly recommend doing that unless you have had previous experience with the company, same as you would before having expensive and, perhaps, unnecessary surgery.
