DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. RUN, RUN, RUN. Paid Lowe's $21,000 for a bathroom remodel around Halloween 2017. They were to start December 1 and thought they could be done by Christmas. The contractor Lowe's used was Paul Davis. It's now September 2018 and no bathroom or even close. First day they are supposed to arrive and they don't and with no call saying they aren't coming even though I spoke with them the night before to confirm. It was a few days before they showed up with no legitimate excuse. Of course there was a change order (no big deal, to be expected) which I paid immediately to Lowe's. Well, the project manager for Paul Davis said they have to wait to get paid from Lowe's before he could start the work and that ended up taking a couple weeks even though I paid it within the hour I was told. I think they could have worked in the meantime, but they were busy doing some apartments and didn't really have time for my lowly bathroom project. Of course Christmas not possible now. Now in September of 2018 and still have no bathroom and haven't been able to use our master bedroom or garage all because of this nightmarish remodel. We were told by Lowe's and Paul Davis that the master bedroom should not be affected by the bathroom remodel, which we stressed to them please don't trash our bedroom. They said they would put plastic on floor and a curtain on bathroom door to keep dust in. Lasted five minutes, fell down, and they never put it up again. Plastic on floor they put about an foot wide strip leading to the sliding glass door outside our master bedroom as if they would only walk there and not step on the carpet with their dirty shoes. We complained and nothing done because no communication between workers and project manager, which by the way for the first month or two if we got two hours a day of work from them, that was an exceptional day, in the meantime us having to wait at the house for them and not being able to make any plans, but to stay in the house and wait for them to show up, which was many, many times they didn't show at all and, like I said, not long if they did. We complained that please notify us if you're not coming so we don't waste our day. They were always very polite talking to us or I should say lying to us. Never did what they said. The work they did had to be redone several times as they had no plans and the workers didn't know what they were doing. Weeks are going by and the project is inching along. Don't show, show up for two hours, don't show, come back for two hours and redo what they did wrong the first time. Every time they showed up we had to tell them please don't step on the bedroom carpet and we don't want a bedroom remodel, just the bathroom. No one would communicate this to them and they had different workers each time they showed up and so we had to make it a point to tell them this each day they bothered to show up. My wife was basically the project manager on this job because of their lack of one, including finding out from the internet what materials to use that were acceptable for a bathroom as they would use the cheapest way possible in every situation that was not proper. Our fault was that we did not complain enough. We gave them so many opportunities to get going on the project, but finally after about three months we complained to Lowe's when they quit showing up or returning any texts. Ends up their project manager was very sick and ended up retiring. Not our fault, but hopefully he was the problem. After we called Paul Davis to complain after three months, they seemed shocked to learn anything about our home. They sounded like they felt really bad that this was happening and they had no idea we were being treated like this from their project manager. They came out and saw where we were and made promises to us that they would make it right, it was a terrible situation, shouldn't have been like this. I felt better and realized I should have contacted them much sooner. Then they had a new project manager, who saw what bad work had been performed, and actually wanted to do a good job. Problem is they had no workers capable of doing a good job. New project manager was interviewing people every day and ended up firing most of the workers they had. Finally got a new guy. High hopes, talks a good game. His work was just as poor. We had questions on how he was doing things and had Lowe's representatives meet with Paul Davis representatives and look at our shower. Lowe's had them redo the floor. The walls passed the eye test, but later on as Paul Davis was leaving the site a few days later the tiles were falling off the wall. And that work had been approved. Finally got to the point where we didn't like that they were taking such shortcuts like not removing the thinset from the old tiles and just trying to reglue them. They called their boss at Paul Davis and they said either we leave them alone and let them finish their terrible job the way they want or they will pack up their stuff and leave. So six months probably into our two-week project where we had lost the use of our bedroom, bathroom, garage to store materials, ruined grass outside because they left the dumpster out there for three months, I called Lowe's. The guy over our account wasn't there, but another person helped me and said what usually happens if they were to leave is another company that Lowe's uses would finish the project. Okay with me. I let them leave. Well, no other company worked for Lowe's. Lowe's said only resolution was to let their incompetent company come back and finish their incompetent job that we paid $21,000 for. Not acceptable to us. We wanted someone else. We had three companies come to give estimates to finish with the quotes being around 11,000 to 12,000. No, Lowe's wouldn't do that. Had to be incompetent Paul Davis. No progress with Lowe's at all until finally contacted customer care. Was thinking since I was dealing directly with the parties I would get more progress, but finally through customer care they made an offer of settlement. Anyway, their final offer of 7,800 will be accepted instead of going through an attorney because, of course, all the language in contract is in their favor. Basically should say we can screw you over and you can't do anything about it. So ends up costing up another 4,000 to finish in addition to being without the use of our bedroom or bathroom for 10 months on a two-week project. Had to live out of our guest room. Wife had to wear same clothes for a year as all her clothes are trapped in the dusty bedroom. All their promises of being satisfied and how terrible the situation is was all BS. They don't care. By the way, that new project manager that cared about doing a good job lasted one month with Paul Davis because he was tired of fighting with company owner over their unacceptable work on multiple projects. I'm writing this now before I accept their release of claims because the language in their release says you can't complain about them. Such BS. That's why I'm writing before I sign the release. Had kitchen remodel through Lowe's that went great. This was a nightmare experience. Can't believe Lowe's could have such a poor contractor working for them. STAY AWAY FROM PAUL DAVIS AND LOWE'S FOR BATHROOM REMODEL.

Description of Work: What did they do? Not much. How did it go? Horrible. First appliance was dented and missing parts so it was returned. It took two weeks and numerous phone calls from me to them to get a replacement, one I was told was in stock. Meanwhile "customer service" called more than once to find out how the new appliance was working. At no point did anyone from the West Columbia Lowes call to apologize, explain, or let me know the status of my purchase.

They did a good job with installing the countertops. We had a stainless steel sink. They offered a sink that was coordinated with the countertop. I haven't been happy with the sink, but the countertops are great. The sink stains badly and we cannot get it cleaned. The cabinets are great. The only problem I have is with the sink. I love the vinyl tile. But the vinyl tile wasn't wide enough for our kitchen, so they had to piece it. The seam started coming up pretty quickly after that. I don't know whether they didn't seal it.
Description of Work: Lowe's installed countertops for us. We also bought cabinets from them, but we installed those ourselves. We also had vinyl tile installed with one of their contractors.

We used Lowe's to have a new deck installed. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF OUR LIVES!! The company they contracted to do the acutal installation, Mac Renovations, was horrible. We were not informed of the construction date and only discovered upon arriving home that the deck had not be installed correctly - the way we told the Lowe's representative who came to our house. Mac Renovations messed up the siding on the house, put the deck railing so that it is directly in front of the electrial outlet and made the steps uneven and sloping. These are just a few of the many errors. Donald MacTaggert who is the owner of Mac Renovations was extremely arrogant and treated us very disrespectfully. It was clear from looking at the deck that he did not know what he was doing and even his employees confessed this to us later. We contacted Lowe's to discuss these problems and were told we would get a and quot;niceand quot; discount if we accepted what could not be fixed but now that it is time for Lowe's to deliver, they suddenly have amnesia. We have been haggling with Lowe's for 5 months now with no end in sight. Everyone please learn from our mistake. DO NOT USE LOWEand quot;S FOR ANY INSTALLATION ESPECIALLY IF THEY USE MAC RENOVATIONS!!!

We ordered a deck install from Lowe's, (Store # 0499) West Columbia, SC. Project was paid for on August 1, 2013. Lowe's contracted with Mac Renovations out of Greenwood, SC to do the install. We wanted composite deck boards and ordered MoistureShield. The example that we were shown was a solid board, no side channel since it was being installed with screws, not the clips. This was the first problem I noted - when the materials were delivered the MoistureShield boards had the side channel. I asked the Project Specialist at the store about this and was eventually told the manufacturer had changed the product. However, the MoistureShield website still shows the solid deck boards available. We were told when we got the estimate for the deck that the joists would be placed 12 inches on center. When the deck was being installed, the joists were placed 16 inches on center. I called the Project Specialist at the store who checked with the manufacturer on this and I was told that since the deck boards were being placed perpendicular to the joists and not on an angle, that 16 inches on center was the correct spacing. I accepted this even though it wasn't what I had been promised for the construction. The next issue we encountered was that we had been told from the beginning that footers would be poured and the 4x4's mounted on the footers. The contractor sent someone out to measure and inspect the site. Even though this method of construction was approved by this employee it wasn't done even though 27-80 lb bags of cement were ordered and delivered to the house along with post anchors and other supplies necessary for this type of construction. Holes were dug, the 4x4's dropped into the holes and cement put in the holes around the 4x4s. We were told this change was due to the height of the deck from the ground. It is a low deck - about 12 to 18 inches above ground level. But this wasn't a surprise. Everyone knew the height of the deck from day-one. I have never understood why the last minute change. Additionally, two of these support posts sank and were shimmed up. These two support posts were replaced after we complained about the shims - but I'm not convinced that more supports won't sink over time and the deck will sag. We have mostly sand land and they used so much water in the cement that I'm not sure it will hold up. Start of the install was finally scheduled for Sept 6. (We had been told the MoistureShield boards were a special order and would take approx. 2 weeks to be delivered.) Mac Renovations didn't show up. No phone call, they just weren't here so about noon or 1pm I called the store and they checked on it. I was told the installer had a supervisor out with a hurt back so they would be here Monday, Sept 9. While I understand that stuff happens - I feel they should have called me to let me know what was going on. Work began on Monday, Sept 9. Sometime during that day or the next (Tue, Sept 10) the installer noticed that only 12 ft deck boards were delivered and we needed 16 ft deck boards. I don't know if this was a manufacturer delivery error or a store ordering error or why it wasn't discovered when the order was checked in upon delivery to the store. In any case - it delayed our deck install an additional month. The store was notified and 16 ft deck boards were ordered. Construction of the deck frame continued through Wed, Sept 10 and all work stopped to wait on the 16 ft deck boards. I believe the deck boards were delivered to the store on Sept 25. The installer couldn't come back to our house to begin work again until Oct 7. Excess materials from building the frame sat in our yard for 2 weeks before the store arranged for pick-up. Way too much lumber and cement was ordered so there was quite a pile. Since the full materials order had been delivered prior to the initial start date, the rest of the material pile sat in our yard over a month total waiting for the install to be finished. Two men returned Mon, Oct 7, no supervisor. No deck rails were bolted to the frame - they started laying deck boards and screwing them down to the frame. Many of the screws were stripped out during the installation. This became a problem when I noticed the spacing got too wide over the second half of the deck and asked that it be corrected and they couldn't remove the screws and reposition the deck boards. Several boards had to be broken and pried up and new boards used. We had paid for these boards and now they were on the trash pile. I asked for these boards to be returned to the store for a credit since they were destroyed during the install and not by anything we did, but they were carried off and thrown away the last day of construction. During the confusion of cleaning up I didn't notice this until after they had left. The store eventually gave us a refund for two additional boards, but since the broken boards were thrown away we weren't sure how many actually got destroyed. Holes were cut into the installed deck boards for the hand rail 4x4s. Of the 10 4x4s used in our hand rail - only 3 are attached to the deck frame with carriage bolts. The rest are simply screwed in with long screws. Additionally, none of the 4x4 railing posts are boxed in with 2x4's or secured in any way other than two and quot;ledgerlokand quot; screws being screwed through the framing into the posts. When I questioned this (I had asked about this when we were getting estimates and had been assured by the store Project Specialist that the handrails would be attached to the frame with carriage bolts) - I was told carriage bolts couldn't be used for some unexplained reason but I didn't have to worry - these handrails weren't going anywhere. I don't know, but this isn't what I contracted for and not what I expected nor what I thought I was paying for. One hole in the deck boards was cut right over the top of a joist so the 4x4 was notched out to fit over the joist. This wasn't necessary to the placement of the handrail - it just wasn't taken into account when the holes were being cut. This results in a 2 inch notch having been cut out of the center of the 4x4 so the 4x4 could and quot;saddleand quot; over the joist. Sloppy work. We have a bench across the front of the deck which I was told would be bolted to the frame. This wasn't done either. The bench is simply screwed down to the deck boards. It seems solid now - but it's not the construction I was assured I would get. The remaining excess materials were finally picked-up from our yard on Oct 18. A week and a half after construction was completed on Oct 9 and I had to call several times to get it picked-up then. All in all - I didn't get the premium construction I expected and that I paid for. Lowe's wasn't the cheapest bid we got - but we chose Lowes because I thought we could depend on them to give us sound construction. I definitely don't feel we got it. We finally got refunded for the excess material that was returned to the store on November 16th - nearly a full month after the last of the materials were picked-up by the store. Receiving this refund took numerous phone calls on my part and finally involvement of the store manager to get it done. Several Lowe's employees have been out to the house to and quot;inspectand quot; the deck and all keep assuring us that even though the deck wasn't constructed according to original specifications it is and quot;soundand quot; and according to and quot;normal building practicesand quot;. Frankly, I no longer believe anything Lowe's tells me. Had we known in the beginning that specific practices that we inquired about weren't going to be followed in the construction we never would have contracted this project through Lowe's. The cost was higher than other estimates we received and we didn't get the construction we were assured we were going to get. Lowe's Customer Service made an offer to send Mac Renovations out to address my complaints and and quot;fixand quot; the deck install. No one has actually listed the things that would be and quot;fixedand quot;. I asked if a different company could be used and Lowe's said no - it can only be the original installer. Why would I want this company to come back? They had the opportunity to build this deck right and didn't. They didn't like it when I asked questions about the methods they were using and either told me and quot;everything will be fineand quot;, ignored me or argued with me. Lowe's did a kitchen remodel for us about two years ago and we also had Lowe's install two outside doors for us. Both projects were well done. However, this deck install has been a horrible experience and we don't feel the deck is well constructed - nor what we were assured we were buying. For the price, over $11,000, we expected a quality job and a quality finished product. We have additional projects planned for next year, new wall-to-wall carpeting through-out the house and a privacy fence in the backyard that we had planned to contract with Lowe's. After this experience, the less than satisfactory results and additional difficulties of even getting refunded for excess materials ordered by and returned to the store, we will not consider Lowe's for these projects. In fact, the entire experience has been so unsatisfactory we won't be shopping at Lowe's.
Description of Work: We hired Lowe's in West Columbia to install a deck using composite deck boards. The installation wasn't done according to specifications we had been told by the store Project Specialist would be followed. Also, it took a month to get fully refunded for excess materials that weren't used in the installation and were returned to the store.

They have a good follow-up service. They call and check to make sure everything is okay. They send someone out a month later to check and make sure that the countertops are all right; in fact, they are sending a guy out on Tuesday just to check to make sure that the granite is still in place and everything is okay. We would grade them an A for our overall experience. We were surprised. We think the price is probably like medium to high. They were punctual. They came when they said they were going to come.

.We have a big house. They did a great job. We did not have any problems with them. I think the larger retail stores tend to do a better job than what other people do. It is like the Russian roulette, you don't know what you are going to get. It seems it is a lot more expensive to go with the larger stores but they back up what they do and do it right. It makes it difficult to continue to seek out independent contractors. We will use them in the future.
