Description of Work: I called in regards to my thermostat not functioning. This was two weeks after I had Krantz provide winter servicing. I was told at the time that the gas valve needed to be replaced and was quoted a price of $305.00. I declined to proceed other than replacing the filter. This was on October 4th 2016. I paid $120.00. On October 17th, their technician, "Kenny" came to the house and could not determine why the thermostat was not working. In fact, he stated, "I don't know what is wrong with it or how to fix it." Then he proceeded to quote a price of $235 to replace the thermostat. I refused stating that since this was within 30 days of service, Krantz is responsible for any damages occurred. Kenny called the office, then quoted another price for $170.00. Again, I refused the high charge. I didn't sign any paperwork that states service was done or the thermostat was replaced. I received an email invoice for $170.00 in November. I immediately responded and stated that the charges are fraudulent , that I did not have a new thermostat installed or any services performed. I also stated I would report Krantz to the BBB of SC ,Consumer Affairs for SC and Angie's List. No response to my email. I have now received an invoice via mail ( December 22, 2016) that I owe $180.20. Their technician is an outright liar and more than likely a thief by claiming he installed a thermostat. His name is on the invoice. I have sent a letter to the office, notified my attorney for further action if Krantz continues to send me an invoice claiming I owe them money. My handyman will confirm the original thermostat remained in place, at no time removed nor any new thermostat installed by Krantz. This company clearly demonstrates they are deceitful and patently unethical by committing fraud with their attempt to extort money with this bogus invoice.

+ -1 moreIn a matter of an hour and a half Krantz had come to our home, found the problem, and fixed it. This was on a same day service request as well. Our heat was back up and running that afternoon. They also worked with our home warranty company to make sure that we would be covered under our policy.
Description of Work: The transformer on our HVAC system had blown and Krantz replaced it.

+ -1 moreHe is knowledgeable and can convey this in a clear and understandable manner to the novice that I am. He is also respectful of my time and my home. As such he is always prompt and arrives on time for our appointment. I have had other HVAC companies in the past and most are either less trained or are trying to sell me a service or product that I don't need or want. I highly recommend Krantz Kooling for your HVAC needs!
Description of Work: Justin has serviced our home HVAC systems twice a year for the last 3 years. He comes before the cooling and heating seasons to insure the systems are working as designed.

+ -1 moreI heard about them through the phone book and then I asked around about them. They are excellent; they are as honest as can be. I just call them and their service technician comes out to my house. I have recommended them to everybody. I would use them again in the future if I needed to.
Description of Work: I last had Krantz Kooling And Heating come out to do the spring cleaning of my heating and A/C system; they checked and cleaned everything and put some Freon gas.

+ -1 moreHave used Krantz to service our old (50+years) gas furnace over the last ten years. They also have serviced our upstairs HVAC during that time. During that ten years, I occasionally asked if it was time to replace the existing furnace. Mr. Krantz said on more than one occasion to and quot;run it until it quitsand quot;. Point being, he could have sold me a complete HVAC system years ago and did not. When the old furnace finally did quit, he came the next day and began installation of our new downstairs HVAC. Very pleased with the product but even more with the way this father/sons company conducts business.
Description of Work: Installed new high efficiency gas furnace and blower as well as air conditioning compressor.

+ -1 moreI received the referral to Krantz from our home warranty company and was told I would hear from them in 48 hours. I called directly, though, and was able to confirm someone could come by that afternoon. (It was 98 outside at that point, and 89 INSIDE the house, so there may have been some desperation in my voice.) I received a confirmation call from Mr. Krantz prior to his arrival. He listened while I described what had happened, took a 2 minute gander at our HVAC accoutrement, and diagnosed the issue. Obviously, he had worked with our home warranty company a lot as well as our AC manufacturer, because he was able to instantly gauge the cost for the part, know it was over the threshold of our home warranty company and level set our expectations that, while he would get the cost info back to them the same day, they would likely not approve it for up to 72 hours. The next day, I received a call from Mr. Krantz indicating that, while he hadn't heard from the warranty folks yet, he didn't anticipate a problem since the new part and labor only exceeded the threshold for review by $40, and that he didn't want us to suffer - could he come over now? Forty minutes later, I'm sitting in a still stuffy house relishing cold air blowing from the vents at my feet and thinking about how it's supposed to be 103 today. Obviously, these guys have to be slammed during the hottest days of the year, but they were quick, right where / when they said they would be, and thoughtful - getting us all set and ready to go despite the delay in the "official" approval. Also, dog friendly, which means a bunch to me. I will most certainly go back to them again and again, should I have any need, and I recommend them heartily based on my great experience. :)
