- As with many owner/operator outfits, scheduling and timing can be a bit of a challenge. That said, Mr. St Peter was kind and patient with the owner of the house, who is an elderly woman. He worked to accommodate her schedule, listened to her concerns, was very apologetic on the occasion when he was late or delayed. When the owner suffered a fall while he was present on the work site, he assisted in getting her prompt medical attention. All in all, his manner in working with elderly customers is to be highly commended. -- The owner of the house is very particular about any work done on the premises, and is a very wary consumer (retired purchasing agent). She is quite pleased with the quality of the work done, and the negotiated price.
Description of Work: Installed new back door/windows on a town house, also painted/repaired deck.

I did not hire him and I would recommend that other people not even waste their time attempting to get any kind of estimate.
Description of Work: We attempted to get an estimate from the owner of Talent & Tools, but he was so unprofessional and didn't even seem to want our business, that to hire him would have been unwise on our part. He came out to give an estimate on a new roof, siding, gutters, outside door frame repair, bathroom remodeling and interior painting. He told us several times that we could do much of the work that was needed on the inside and didn't need to hire someone. Obviously, we could do a lot of the work ourselves, as most people can, but couldn't understand why he wouldn't want to be hired to do so??? He continuously kept throwing out really high numbers that he wasn't willing to give us any kind of break down for. He told us that we would need to just write him out a check for $25,000 and that would cover everything, but wasn't willing to give me any kind of break down as to how he came up with that number, which was entirely too high, based on other quotes I had gotten from other companies. He made very snide remarks that he "wasn't hurting to feed his kids and didn't need our business" even though he has a coupon circulating in the mail. It seemed to us that because we wanted a breakdown of the charges and weren't willing to just write a check for a ridiculous amount that didn't add up to the work needed, he treated us as if we didn't have any money and were wasting his time. He was extremely unprofessional and I can't imagine anyone hiring him. After our "estimate" meeting, I simply typed his name into Google and a mug shot popped up with his picture for a recent arrest last year for burglary.

The owner came out for an estimate on building/installing a window seat in breakfast nook, installing tile backsplash in kitchen and fixing some mortar on our outside stone on March 27, 2012. The estimate came in the mail, requiring 50% prepayment. After deciding against doing the tile backsplash, we sent a check for $275 which was cashed on April 12, 2012. Called and emailed several times asking about the timeframe over the next two plus months and each time there were excuses. The work was finally completed on June 29, 2012. When they installed the window seat, they scuffed our newly painted walls and didn't bother to caulk under the window sills or put in quarter round on the bottom where it meets the floor. Very poor workmanship. He gave some excuse about the floors being uneven when my husband questioned him about the missing molding. My husband ended up going to Lowes and purchasing and installing the quarter round himself, as well as caulking all of the gaps to make it more "finished" looking. As for the outside stone, we had some mortar missing in our stone facade and the contractor was supposed to apply mortar to fill it in. When we went outside to see what he had done, he had just put some silicone caulk in the spots and it was very shoddy and he had the nerve to think that was worth $200! Overall, not a positive experience. He was nice enough, but it took entirely too long to complete the work and it looked very unfinished when they left. Didn't want to call them back out to finish the work properly because I was very unhappy with the quality of their work and I just didn't want them leaving more of an unfinished mess in my house.
Description of Work: Built and installed window seat in breakfast nook and caulked stone on front facade of house.
