Services we offer
We are a full service residential construction company offering our clients a simple, smooth process while designing and building their custom deck, tailor-crafted screened porch or sun-room, as well as functional home additions and personally designed remodels. We also offer comprehensive home building from the ground up.
Services we don't offer
When asked by a client to build onto an existing structure, special care is taken during the design process. An example would be adding a roof onto an existing deck or patio. During our design phase, we will inspect the current structure to be sure the existing footings, framework, etc is up to code to be certain your family's safety and the longevity of the addition are both ensured.
This is the second job that DG Builders did for me. David answered all of my questions and kept to the schedule once the job was started. The job included a 570 square foot patio and two small decks of 30 square feet each with steps leading down to the patio. I was provided options for the colors of the base and contrast and got exactly what I wanted. Neighbors and friends were so impressed they asked for contact numbers to have quotes done for them. Everything went very well and the results were spectacular. I could not be happier and DG Builders will be the first company I call for any additional work around my house.
Description of Work: Stamped concrete patio and 2 small decks
I think I got a nice patio for a good price. David is a nice guy who cares about his reputation and seems to know what he's doing. His price was better than another guy I've used in the past, so I decided to give him a shot. His framers worked quickly and did a good job. His electrician was great. The siding and gutter people were not good, but they were not his regular siding people. They had to come back several times and they cut corners every time. David says he has not used them since. You can tell that he takes pride in his work. I can't say the entire process went smoothly, but he stuck with it to make it right.
Description of Work: Covered patio with can lights and ceiling fan.

The project went very well. Weather is the only thing that had held the project up when it did. The crews were nice guys. They asked where I wanted the porch door and put it exactly where I wanted it. They kept me abreast of any changes that were needed They cleaned up the work site and actually did some landscaping around our new screened in porch. My wife was excited to use the porch even in December. She takes out our propane heater and it keeps her warm. I say once the porch was started with the laying of the cement and that took a week to cure, they had the rest of it done in about two weeks which included, framing the porch, shingling the added on roof and making it a seamless connect to our existing roof. Electrician came out and put in overhead fan. Had a vinyl siding guy come out and added new vinyl to cover porch. Then the final crew put up the screening material and we have a very nice screened in porch. All in all we are both very happy how the screened in porch turned out.
Description of Work: He built a cover screened in porch that extended over my sliding glass door and went out 14ft and I believe its 12 ft wide. He also added more cement slab to the existing patio which is great because I know I have ample room to cook out away from my house and covered porch. In fact I bought a metal fire pit and used it the other night where I normally will grill. It was nice.

Very nice gentlemen but very difficult to get scheduled. Had to reschedule several times because they had "other jobs". Was told someone would come the following weekend to finish some things that didn't all within the "two hour window" that was purchased. I was willing to pay but they never showed up; never called. I eventually got someone else to do the work..for free. Again, very nice individuals but I think my work was not worth it to them.
Description of Work: Don't have exact date of service so above is an estimate. Changed out lighting fixtures.

DAVID SCHEDULED HIS CREWS PERFECTLY AND THEY DID EXCELLENT WORK. WE ARE VERY PLEASED WITH THE ENTIRE PROFECT
Description of Work: BUILT A 16' X 26' SCREEN PORCH
I was hoping to find a contractor that I could use for future projects and I do think I will hire him again for other projects. The owner of the company, David Gerisch was very nice and friendly. He showed up on time for our initial meeting, he had good ideas and didn't try to oversell me on things I didn't need. David made very reasonable efforts to correct problem sat the end of the job. We had an existing deck and partially fenced in back yard. The job was to remove the old 4' chain link and install 6' chain link all the way to the house and fully enclose the back yard. In addition we also wanted a roof installed on the back part of the deck and partially enclose the deck to the back yard, and install anew door on the back portion of the deck, with a new stairway from the deck to the yard. The goal was to have direct access to the fully fenced back yard and be able to let the dogs out, and have a covered outdoor area to use. Overall the stated goal has been met and overall quality was good. The job was started and finished in a reasonable amount of time. Structurally and functionally everything is decent. The finish work was initially lacking in quality, but after pointing this out to David he corrected the trim lattice work around the deck. Different sub contractors were used by DG to complete the job so basically Dave was acting as a general contractor. Deck: The main framing crew may have been directly employed by DG, but I'm not sure. The crew leader was very nice and the whole crew was professional and friendly. The structural work they did was decent, they worked quickly and cleaned up everyday. They basically replaced the entire supporting structure of the deck and it is very solid. The shed style roof on the deck and finished roofing is good, but the finish work they did was lacking. They installed a vinyl railing on the deck and for 26 of the 40 vinyl end brackets that they installed, they over tightened the screws and cracked them. This was pointed out to the owner, Dave, and he said he would come back and replace them but it never happened. Some of the rails are slightly crooked too but that is not too noticeable unless you are really looking. Also when they installed the vinyl railing to the existing stairs they somehow pulled the stairs out of level and you can feel it when you walk on them now. I pointed this out to David. This crew also framed in and installed the new door on the back of the house. They did an okay job on that. One thing that he did fixed on request was the lattice work I asked for on the end of the deck. Their first try at that was just terrible looking, and after I complained he replaced it and did a much better job the second time, but he charged me extra to repair the holes in the vinyl trim created from the first awful attempt.Electrical: The electrician he used was not good. His task was to install a ceiling fan in the new covered deck area. Fortunately I know enough about electric code to have stopped him from doing the job with the wrong gauge wire and a hidden electrical junction inside the wall. If I was not home during this portion of the job I would have ended up with an overloaded circuit with two illegal wire junctions inside the wall. This would have been a fire hazard.Fence: I was charger for 450' of fence and the finished length was 418'. The fence crew did an okay job, The crew leader was friendly and professional. The crew was nice enough, but I watched one of them bury his trash from lunch in one of the fence post holes before he filled it. I'm still not sure why he would do that? I had them install a tension wire on the bottom of the chain link so the dogs can not easily go under. They did not secure the wire to the fence very good though and I had to go back and tighten all the wire ties after they left. We had a 50' wooden privacy fence installed in the section that faces the driveway. They did okay on this, but the arches they cut on the top of the fence look a little rough. I didn't complain about that though because it looks good enough, and I will be removing it in the near future when I have a garage built in its place. The vinyl siding, rain gutter and aluminum trim work sub contractor did an excellent job. Overall I am about 90% happy with the job. Everything I initially asked for was completed and on schedule. Everything is functional and is an improvement to what we had before. The follow-up promises were not kept after the final payment was made so if you do hire them, get everything completed to your satisfaction before you give him his last payment. Update 1/3/15: I received a call from David in November saying he still intended on coming back and finishing the remaining items. still looking forward to having these few remaining things taken care of. I fully understand that they have moved on to other jobs, but I feel that David is a quality person and will make good on his promise the next time I have him out for a job.
Description of Work: Added a roof to an existing deck, restructured deck support posts and beams, added a set of stairs to the deck, added a door from the house to the deck, removed old chain link fence and installed a new chain link and wood privacy fence.

I called to have an estimate for a repair of a leaky valley on my roof and also the cost of a total re-roof if it was needed and within my budget. The provider was responsive from the first contact and came out when they said they would; however, after I stated I wanted to get one or two other estimates (which took me more than a month), I contacted the company and was told they would get back to me to affect the repair. I never received a call back (I spoke with the owner the day I called in September!) and since then my calls (2) have gone to voicemail with no responses. A simple "we are no longer interested in fixing your roof" would have been fine. A no response and no return of phone calls is just unprofessional! I understand they probably wanted the total re-roof job but it was not within my budget at this time and the repair was what I really needed. Although the reviews on Angie's List are good, my experience was no so.

The job went very well. He has a great crew that worked hard. I requested extra lights than we normally talked about and he was willing to get the job done like I wanted it. He also added me a Aluminum gate and fence to my back yard replacing a wooden one. I am pleased with the work and look forward to working with David again. Can't wait for my GRANDS to see it.

David is an extremely knowledgeable professional who genuinely cares about the quality of his work and his customer's satisfaction. Although our job was comparatively small to many, David took the time to listen to our concerns, answer our questions and offered some practical cost-saving suggestions. After a little jockeying for position, largely due weather, a work-date was agreed upon, and David's crew arrived on time and did an excellent job. The quality of the workmanship was exceptional and David's suggestions regards building/installing the two smaller gates were the perfect solution to our needs. Likewise, David explained the construction/engineering short-coming of our old, sagging gate, and the new double-gate, that Stuart and Jessie built, was infinitely more sturdy than the original. The construction debris was cleaned up, and David came over at the end of the day to inspect the job and make sure we were satisfied - an important follow-up that, in our eyes, demonstrated his commitment to customer satisfaction. Good workmanship, honest value, and meeting or exceeding the promised expectations, is exactly the kind of experience that creates good-will for the customer, and more business for the service provider. Thank you DG Builders.
Description of Work: Built two small wooden gates (one at the top of each stair case of our deck), and built one large double gate to replace an old cedar gate that was part of the back yard existing fence.

I called and had David give me a estimate on building a screened in porch over my existing deck. We went over all the details and David had great knowledge about what needed to be done to make this projects outcome be what I wanted. They were very prompt on the start time of the project and was informative through every phase. If there was any questions or changes I wanted to make along the process, I could always contact them right away. Everyone that worked on the porch was very knowledgeable, courteous and just nice people. The builders had great attention to detail and really knew what they were doing by the great quality of there work. I'm very happy with the final outcome and the entire process of the build. I would definitely recommend DG builders and have them do future projects for me.

He came out to see what I wanted done and saw than I needed the tile backsplash done in my kitchen. I wasn't planning on having him do that because his profile didn't mention tile and I had some general handyman items I also needed done. He spent the whole time selling me on doing the tile which would take more than the 6 hours time that I bought. I told him to get me a bid for what it would cost to do it and he said he would get that to me in a couple of days. He asked me how much of a hurry I was in because he wanted to fit it in on a rainy day. I guess that means he wanted to wait until winter to get back to me.... That is the last I heard from him and it's been over a month. I got 2 other tile bids in the meantime and selected another person to do the work and it is scheduled even though this person is also busy and it will be done next week and done well because I've seen his work. He will hang the two lights I needed hanged and I'll get other people to help with the other handyman things I needed done, if I don't just do them myself. I feel that was completely ripped off. I joined Angie's list as a single women to try to source people who wouldn't take advantage of me. In this case that absolutely did not work. Beware!

After a heavy rain storm last month we noticed a leak in our roof. We called David at DG builders and he came out and took a look at our roof. He found the leaking area and put a temporary patch on to prevent any further damage from occurring. David explained to us that our roof was in need of replacement in the near future as he had seen a fair bit of wind and some hail damage. Per our request for a quote, David gave us an estimate a few days later for what it would cost to replace the roof. We contacted our insurance company and they promptly sent someone out to take a look. Our Insurance Company did find wind damage on the rear side of our roof and they agreed to cover that portion (1/2) of the roof. We then contacted David to give him the go ahead and by the end of the following week, he had the materials delivered and his team of guys on our roof. They began promptly on a Saturday morning and by early evening they had completed the entire house (minus a small bay window roof) and cleaned up and de-nailed the yard from all the debris. All in one day!! They stopped back the next day to finish up the small bay window section and the job was finished. Our roof looks great and we couldn?t be happier with the work David and his crew did on our home. They exceeded our expectations with their fast response time as well as the quality of the work performed.
Description of Work: Tear off and replaced roof and any damaged sheathing that was found.
Advice for anyone contracting work to be done by any company: 1. Get a signed contract which details exactly what is to be done. A list of materials needed and that cost is essential. Does your contract cover labor only or does it include cost of materials? Do you want receipts? 2. Any changes or additions to the contract must have a written and signed Change Order which shows exactly what will be done. 3. Agree in advance what will be paid and when the payment(s) will be paid. The construction industry in general has a reputation where some ask for money in advance and then take their time completing the project. This causes doubts in the mind of the homeowners. My deck project had so many changes I requested that the end product was nothing like my original request to simply extend the life of my old deck. David was patient with me and did a good job. I am very satisfied.
Description of Work: New Roof then Deck David Gerisch has a team of 4 men that work for him on a regular basis. They handle decks, siding, home additions or improvements, fences, etc. In addition, he brings in other teams as needed for specialty jobs who are experts in areas such as roofing or concrete work or bulldozing. DG Builders put on a new roof for me. As the crew was removing the old shingles by the gutters, they dented the cap on the gutters. David took the initiative to replace all the gutter cap. I am happy with the job they did. I did not find one nail on the ground after they cleaned up. Very efficient crew. I brought DG Builders back to extend the life of my 20+ yr old deck, using Behr Deckover. They put on a coat that ended up with bubbles. David contacted the company and negotiated with them for $900 of credit after I decided to put on new flooring and new handrails along with a storage closet and other work instead if stripping off the paint and starting over. They did a good job.

They had tear off my old roofing and replace some roof decking and shingle it. My garage is detached so it was like roofing two homes. They were on time, cleaned up the yard before they left each day and they were careful about picking up loose roofing nails. They removed my old deck and replaced it with a larger deck which they partially built to access my above ground pool. The bathrooms were a little more complicated. We ran into some unexpected floor rotting which had to be replaced. They replaced the old ceramic tile around the tub. They did a beautiful job on the tile. The other bathroom was a little difficult because I ordered a one piece shower that wouldn't go through the doorway to the room. They took the shower back to Lowes for me and obtained a similar shower and kept me from having to pay a restocking fee to the store! I was overall pleased with the work and would definitely recommend them for any home project.
Description of Work: They roofed my home and detached garage, build a deck, and remodeled two of my bathrooms.
David was called in early October 1013 after an electrical fire at my son-in-law's home. There was extensive fire and water damage. There were insurance delays and on into winter, weather delays. David has a small company but his crew of workers was helpful and professional. What struck me most about David was his caring spirit and professionalism. He did more than expected, replacing kitchen cabinets rather than just cleaning them, replacing the floors in the whole house rather than piecemeal repair of the damaged areas. In regard to floors, he put much thought into using durable, easy to clean, non- staining material which replaced carpet which was in terrible shape. I'm sure this cost him more, but it was an excellent choice for 2 guys living alone. The entire finished product was better than when it was new. The overall work was slow. David would have to pull guys off the big job to help with smaller jobs which, I think, would bring in quick money to help on this job until insurance paid.. As his business grows I think this will be less of the a problem. He is a good, hard steady worker. It took 7 months to finish the job. It was a very labor intensive job. Because of his ethics and skill, I would certainly hire him again.

David and Mike were very responsive to all our needs. Outstanding craftsmanship and engineering tying into an addition to a 30 year old deck. DG Builders LLC offers the following services: We are a full service residential construction company offering our clients a simple, smooth process while designing and building their custom deck, tailor-crafted screened porch or sun-room, as well as functional home additions and personally designed remodels. We also offer comprehensive home building from the ground up.
