I’m very disappointed with the service I received from Carl with Mower Medic because I paid for services I didn’t receive. I called Carl about getting my riding lawn mower serviced and asked him to put new blades on it because it was leaving a line in the middle of cutting path uncut (Mohawk) he assured me he would do complete tune up to change oil spark plug filters and put new blades on it so Jun 27 he came did the work and charged me 213.00 … along with a tip I threw in that was my choice and decision ….the first time I used it it just didn’t seem right it acted like it was grinding and blowing a lot of dust and dirt and I had a part that fell off so I called him he had me text him the pix of that part and said it wasn’t anything that would be making the dirt and dust blow like that he told me my house had a lot of bare places and that we had dry summer so I just let it go next time I cut grass it was blowing the dirt and dust excessively again and it was acting like it was losing power and about to cut off randomly and now I’m starting to hate to cut grass where as I always enjoy riding the lawn mower since I got I did put out a post on a social media site asking if anyone knew of somebody that could look at it turns out I did get couple of guys to jack it up they had some jacks to lift it up and discover the blades that Carl put on were not brand new blades they were reconditioned blades that he resharpened I have pictures where the design in the center was different on the ones Carl installed 2 different design blades and you could see that the edge of the blade had been filed down and sharpened and there was chip on one of the blades he had installed no way was these Brand new blades he claimed to put on my lawn mower and the air filter was completely dirty and filthy and they could not tell if the spark plug he put in was a used or brand new one so needless to say had to make trip to get brand new blades air filter and spark plug which was another 85.00 … the 2 guys that looked at it were furious about this as I’m a single female that is not that knowledgeable about this kind of stuff and one of them called Carl about it and Carl would only say he changed the blades he would never admit that the blades he used were not new and Carl never even tried to call me to make this right totally feel I was ripped off and taken advantage of and I will never do business with mower medic again I only gave 1 star because no option for zero this was zero quality service

After replacing my own alternator I had somehow introduced some pretty serious timing issues on my riding mower. After a neighbor and I worked for several hours on it, we were at a loss. When I called the mower medic, he asked me a couple of questions and freely diagnosed it over the phone. He told me he would be happy to come out in a couple of weeks but he felt like I could probably resolve it on my own. He was right! I took his advice and was able to finish the repair on my own. Even though I have an officially done business with the mower medic, I highly recommend them!

Carl arrived in a truck that is a fully equipped workshop on wheels. He quickly diagnosed the problem, but the part he needed was not on his truck, so he returned when the part came in, quickly repaired the mower. His bill was very reasonable for the services provided. I will call him again to do repair work, and to get more stories about his earlier days as ice road trucker in Canada.

gentleman told me that he makes money off of parts and therefore would not be able to use the parts I purchased for my mower to be fixed. I explained the parts had to be ordered over the internet and thay did not phase him. I would give him a -5 stars for greed and not helping people get there equipment fixed

First, Remington makes some fine products. I have a Remington shot gun that I love. I use a Remington electric shaver, which easily competes with similarly priced Norelcos. And last summer I purchased a Remington 4 stroke leaf blower that worked better than any I’ve owned… until it didn’t. Primer bulb stopped pulling fuel into it and wouldn’t draw gas into the carburetor. The blower has a 2 year warranty, and that’s where everything goes south. While attempting to get it fixed, Remington and their warranty service provider, Mower Medic in South Jordan, Utah have managed to provide me the worst customer service I’ve ever received on any product I’ve ever owned! When I called Remington to find out who does there warrant work I waited on hold for more than an hour. They referred me to Mower Medic for warranty service so I took it in and told them the problem with the carburetor. Even though it’s under warranty they wouldn’t take it unless I gave them a $30 deposit. They informed me they were 10 days to 2 weeks out on getting to it. Well, okay. They called me back 2 weeks later and said it needed a new carburetor and it would be $126… which is about what I paid for the blower. I said no problem I have the warranty information. They said Remington doesn’t warrant the carburetor. Well, not okay. Another call to Remington…another hour plus on hold, and sure enough Remington said they don’t warranty the carburetor. The point is if they would have told me that when I took it in, I wouldn’t have left it. I only took it to them in the first place because of the warranty. So I went back to Mower Medic to pick it up. You guessed it…they wouldn’t refund my $30 (said it’s not refundable because they had to diagnose the problem.) This is NICOLE KAY, by the way, the manager of no customer service. I said I knew, and they knew what the problem was when I brought it in, but I thought it would be a repair and not a replace. She said Remington doesn’t allow them to do carburetor repairs, only replacements. I said What?! They’re not covering it under the warranty, what do you or they care what you do to fix it. Obviously, a rebuild requires some time and effort and the replace is a five minute job on a bad day. (4 screws and connect the fuel lines). The carburetor costs them $45 or so NICOLE KAY says, so $126 is a pretty great deal…for them! Like they couldn’t do the right thing for a customer, because…Remington! Right! Again, they didn’t tell me the carburetor wasn’t covered under warranty, and they didn’t tell me they only replace carburetors, not fix them, and they didn’t tell me my deposit wasn’t refundable. And when I expressed my dissatisfaction, NICOLE KAY became very defensive and rude…accused me of being unreasonable! Now I know…Remington products seem to be good, as long as you don’t need their VERY limited warranty service. If you do need to call them, plan on a morning or afternoon on hold and recognize that they couldn’t care less about your satisfaction with their service. Once again, that’s MOWER MEDIC in South Jordan, Utah. Ask specifically for NICOLE KAY if you want to throw away your money and be thoroughly abused!

fine however on his first visit he replaced the starter and it started ok , but he did not look at the mower as a whole and a few hrs later it started smoking and when he came back out he had to replace the cutting blade and belt and charged another trip charge because it was a different problem. I get that but had he looked over the mower to start with , he probably would have noticed the belt and blade, replaced them and would not have had to come back.

Saw his truck in the Powdersville area and decided to call because our mower needed a new drive belt. Seemed okay and was told it would be about a month before he could get to us,I was okay with that, he called the morning of the appt to make sure we would be home. Arrived at arranged time. However one of the things I told him was broken (a spring) he did not have on his truck so he rigged it and charged $20, a few months later it broke! After using the mower 2 times the deck was uneven and gapped the yard, called him and he didn't want to come back out because it was too far,but said he would call after June 8 to sit up a time....I'm still waiting! I was told that my mower needed factory parts not after market,I told him this ,found out from another service guy that the parts used on my mower were all after market .belts, spark plug, oil filter etc.. He is very rude...Yankee attitude! Will not use him again and will not recommend him either... Rip off artist

My mower would not start. The dealership was 2-3 weeks out on service. In checking Angie's List I found Mower Medic. They had some very good reports on MM. I called Carl and he came out in about 4 working days. He was prompt and professional. In less than 30 minutes he had made the repair and was on his way. The cost was only $63.00. Now my wife is happy again. And so am I. MM did a great job. Glad I found him.

It was one of those rainy days we had about a month ago but he was on time and had everything I needed. I'd bought the belt but it was the wrong one. He came prepared! I think it took an hour to complete and he was on his way! Nice man and great work ethic! Which is something you don't see as much of anymore. I didn't have a way to get the mower anywhere so his set-up is perfect!

It's wonderfully convenient not to have to cart my riding mower to a service shop. Carl came to my house (on time) with his repair truck. The work was done in about an hour. My mower runs better now than it did when I bought it brand new! He was friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable. Great experience. I will definitely call Mower Medic again.
Description of Work: General service including oil change, blade sharpening, filters, checked belts and battery. Also removed a sharp piece of metal that had come off under the deck and was preventing one blade from turning. And adjusted the choke so that it would start more easily.

Carl did a great job. The tractor was unexpected as it broke down when he was returning some the other items that I had him repair in his shop. He was able to use a winch from the back of his service truck to pull the tractor out of my yard and up a steep hill. He winched the tractor inside his mobile workshop, put it on a lift (pretty impressive really), and diagnosed and repaired a valve problem in about an hour. He knows what he is doing and was very fair on pricing.

First - he was an hour late - with no call or apology. It may have been the mower brand MTD - but he struggled to replace the belts. After talking to him it was obvious he did not follow the directions specific to this machine. Guess you can cut corners on certain ones but he didn't want to release the springs which seemed essential . Like I told him - your customer service was lacking - ****UPDATE : We used the mower today and it cuts at about 1/2 the speed that it used to - Mower Medic must have been a lawyer before he started providing mower repair service ..we both know that he never apologized about being late but instead mentioned that he had attempted to call me for the first time when I presented him with a check for 125 and cited his lateness as one of the many reasons I wasn't paying the full amount. After watching this repair man struggle for an hour and hearing him say maybe he should have taken the fender off the mower - I asked about releasing the spring which is in the DIY instructions for the mower owner. He said no that's not necessary. After an hour - the mower was rolled off the truck and when I started it - the belts were squealing and he put it back on the truck for another 30 mins. So when he finally finished with the mower - I was upset that he was an hour late getting there (which at that point the phone call had never even been mentioned), that he had ignored the directions provided by MTD. When we had first talked on the phone he estimated changing 2 drive belts and one deck belt to be 125 - at the most 175 if he had to take mower back to replace a stuck pulley . So please hire this guy if you think it is reasonable to spend almost 2 hours changing 2 drive belts on a yard machine MTD 400 series BTW - here are the actual instructions to how to replacement belt... from the MTD operators manual on how to change belts BELT REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT WARNING: Disconnect the spark plug wire and ground it against the engine. Block the wheels of the unit. NOTE: When changing the belts, a spring puller or other suitable tool is required to remove some of the springs. A spring puller (part number 732-0571) is available to assist in removal of springs. NOTE: Figures 21, 24 and 25 are shown with the unit tipped up for clarity. It is not necessary to tip the unit to remove the belts. Removing the Deck Belt 1. Place the lift lever in the disengaged position. 2. Remove the two belt guard pins from the engine pulley belt guard. See figure 21. NOTE: Make certain belt guard pins are reassembled as shown in figure 21. 3. Unhook the deck belt from the engine pulley. 4. Place the lift lever in the engaged (all the way forward) position. 5. Disconnect the spring from the rear spring retainer anchor. See figure 22. 6. Disconnect the two front deck links by removing the hairpin clips and flat washers. 19 Figure 21 7. Remove the belt guards at each deck pulley by removing the self-tapping screws. See figure 23. Figure 22 8. Remove and replace the belt, following the instructions in reverse order. Figure 23 Removing the Rear Drive Belt (Refer to figure 24) 1. Start the engine. Place shift lever in neutral. Place speed control lever in high speed position and turn engine off. Engage lift lever (move all the way forward). Do not set parking brake. 2. Disconnect the large spring from the transmission support bracket, using a spring puller or other suitable tool. 3. Disconnect the idler spring from the bolt on the right side of the frame and transmission support bracket. 4. Loosen (do not remove) the hex nut which secures the variable speed pulley bracket to allow clearance in order to remove the belts. A 9/16" socket wrench is required. 5. Remove belt from transmission pulley and idler pulley. Remove the rear drive belt from around the top of the variable speed pulley. 6. Reassemble new belt, following instructions in reverse order. Removing the Forward Drive Belt (See figure 25) 1. To remove the forward drive belt, first remove the rear drive belt (steps 1 through 5 of the preceding instructions). 2. Remove the deck belt from the engine pulley (steps 1 through 3 of ??Removing The Deck Belt??). Figure 24 3. Remove the engine pulley belt guard by removing two self-tapping screws from each side of the frame. Remove the engine pulley belt guard by moving it back and to the left. 4. Remove the forward drive belt from the engine pulley and from the variable speed pulley. 5. Reassemble new belt, following instructions in reverse order. There is a third option - do it yourself - i plan to buy the spring remover and change the deck belt when i attempt to figure out why the mower is at 1/2 speed after Mower Medic replaced the two drive belts.

Response from Mower Medic LLC
I call [member name removed] to let her know I was running late but while doing so I dialed the wrong number hitting the 9 on the phone instead of the 6 and left a message with the wrong person. I did apologize to [member name removed] for being late and showed her on my phone that I dialed the wrong number. I did not check to see if I had the right belt for the mower deck. There is nothing wrong with the belt on her machine. I do carry a large assortment of belts, blades and other parts on the truck The spring that [member name removed] wanted me to remove would have taken longer to re-install than the time to work around it. I worked on [member name removed] mower for 1.75 hours. I charged her for 1.5 hours. The total bill Parts, Service Call, Labor and Tax was $158.84 [member name removed] gave me a check for $125.00 and told me to leave. Refusing to pay the total amount. [member name removed] still owes me $33.84 I started this business to provide parts and service at a fair price to cut overhead cost. Maybe next time [member name removed] can haul her mower to a shop and wait 3 weeks only to pay more for the repair.
