I had a roof leak. Allcon Roofing came out looked at the roof and suggested a short term and a long term fix. They performed the short term fix while on site. I was leaving town for two months before they could perform the long term fix, so I paid them in advance with the understanding they would complete the job while I was away. When I returned, inspected the roof and found the repairs had been made as promised.

Description of Work: Professional and honest company to deal with. I had them come out for a roof inspection and assessment and they were honest with me regarding my roof condition -- great condition and needed nothing! Also, very helpful with fixing a simple gutter issue.

My house is 19 years old and for several months I have been considering replacing the roof in anticipation of selling my house in a couple of years. The original shingles were "builders grade" and looked really tired and weathered from almost two decades of service. Recently, I noticed several of the homes at the end of my street were having new roofs installed due to "hail damage." All of these homes had yard signs advertising Allcon Roofing as the contractor. Within a few days of seeing these yard signs I found an information packet at my home, left by Allcon, informing me of their services and offering to inspect my roof for hail damage. "Why not," I thought; since I was considering a new roof anyway, I gave them a call. I spoke with Erin Shields, their field representative, who agreed to come out the next day to look at my roof. Mr. Shields arrived as scheduled and performed a quick assessment, which indicated that I had extensive hail damage on the rear side of my roof. Mr. Shields gave me instructions on filing an insurance claim, which I did. Cotton States is my insurance company and their adjuster arrived a week later and verified that, indeed, my roof was damaged by hail, and they were going to authorize replacement. After I received the appropriate documentation and the initial bank check from Cotton States, Mr. Shields returned to my house and went over the details regarding roof replacement. He allowed me to select what shingles I wanted and color. I elected to upgrade to a premium GAF Timberline architectural shingle. Interestingly, the monetary figures quoted me during this meeting were very vague and verbal only. Calculations were hastily made on a piece of scratch paper, and I was provided nothing in writing. I left this meeting somewhat confused, with no real idea of the true cost of what the new roof might be. In retrospect, I should have asked for something in writing, but I didn't, trusting that Mr. Shields was a fair and honest man. Mr. Shields informed me that my new roof would be installed the next week, and that my shingles would be delivered by Wednesday, September 19th. The entire week of September 19th came and went, with no sign of new shingles or an installation crew. No one from Allcon took the time to call me. This was frustrating, since I made a point to stay close to home the entire week. On Saturday, September 22nd, I received a call from the Allcon office in Hinesville, GA, and was informed by a female office person that my roof was slated to be installed on Tuesday, September 25th, and that the shingles would be delivered on Monday, September 24th. I took the opportunity to voice my displeasure over the fact that I was told my roof was suppose to have been installed the previous week and that I had wasted an entire week waiting on them. The female office person stated that she would have Mr. Shields call me regarding this issue. Within minutes Mr. Shields called me on the phone and apologized for not contacting me about their change in plans. He explained that they did not have a crew in town during the previous week, and therefore, they could not/did not roof any homes in the area. He agreed that someone should have called me. I accepted his apology, but told him that I expected them to actually show up on September 25th, as scheduled. Fortunately, like clockwork, my new shingles were delivered to my house on Tuesday, September 24th, and the next day, at approximately 8:00 a.m., a roofing crew was in my yard, ready to go. The crew, all hispanic, worked diligently and professionally, removing the old shingles, refelting the roof, and installing the new architectural shingles. The crew worked hard and fast and, to my surprise, completed the entire job in one day, rather then the two days projected. After completing work on the roof, the crew took great pains to clean up around my house, and left my property in tip-top shape. The the new roof looks very nice and professionally installed, and makes a great improvement in my home's street presentation. After the crew completed their work, Mr. Shields arrived and asked for payment. Since I had heard so many figures battered around, with no written estimate provided, I had no understanding of the final cost. I asked how much, and was given a figure of $9,393. I have no idea how Mr. Shields arrived at this figure and I had no option other than to take his word, and write the check (for which I was not given a receipt). As I handed Mr. Shields the check, I asked for an itemized bill that breaks down the cost for my job since I would like to know how he arrived at the final figure. At one point in the sales process I was told that my house would require 39 squares of shingles, another time I was told that it would only require 36 squares. Even at this point, I'm still not sure of the final square-count since there were several bundles of shingles left over. As a customer, proper documentation regarding cost estimates serve to not only validate the expenses billed, but is an important part of the permanent job record. Upon requesting an itemized bill, Mr. Shields stated he would drop back by my house tomorrow (Sept. 26th) with the requested documentation. Since I am typing this review immediately after the job was done, I will have to update this report if, in fact, an itemized bill is (or is not) delivered as requested. In closing, it appears that Allcon Roofing did an excellent job installing my new roof. I am very happy with the job performed. However, I would NOT to use them again. Although Mr. Shields always presented himself in a polite and respectful manner, I always had the feeling in the back of my mind that something was amiss. But, given the fact that Allcon has an "A" rating with the Better Business Bureau, I chose to ignore my feelings and trust the sales pitch provided by Mr. Shields. My mistake. This entire process, of course, has been a learning experience for me and has served to remind me to always ask for a written estimate, with a cost breakdown, BEFORE the job is done. Allcon performs a disservice to the customer, in this regard, by not providing such. To be such a large company, they should know better. The customer should not have to ask. One last thing that bothers me ... as Mr. Shields and his crew were leaving my house, there were, as I previously mentioned, several bundles of shingles left over. Mr. Shields asked me what I wanted to do with them. I didn't really know what to do with them and he then stated that he would leave me with a half-bundle of shingles, and would take the rest with him. After he left, it hit me that I PAID FOR THOSE BUNDLES OF PREMIUM SHINGLES and that these shingles would, most likely, be used at another job, or returned for company credit, at my expense. I intend on asking about this and will request an adjustment on my final bill, if appropriate. UPDATE: My roof was installed on September 25th, 2012, today is October 1, 2012. On the day my roof was installed I requested an itemized invoice because I had no idea how the contractor, Erin Shields of Allcon Roofing, had arrived at the total cost for my roof and I felt I had been overcharged. Mr. Shields stated he would deliver an itemized invoice the next day. On September 26th, Mr. Shields was a no-show with the promised invoice. On September 27th I checked my mailbox to retrieve my mail and, SURPRISE, found an invoice inside from Allcon Roofing. I am assuming Mr. Shields did not want to see me in person, so he stuffed it in my mailbox. Upon examining the invoice, outright fraud was immediately evident. My insurance company, Cotton States, had measured my roof to require 34.5 squares of shingles. I was billed, however, me for 40 squares of shingles at $185 per square, and took at least two squares of left over (unused) shingles from the worksite when the job was completed. When I questioned him directly, He could not give me any direct and factual responses to my questions, only that he had made a mistake on my invoice and had, by accident, given me the figures for a roof that he installed down the street from me. I mentioned to him that it was somewhat of a coincidence that my roof and the roof down the street priced out to be exactly the same. He replied by saying that the figure of $9393 that he had charged for my roof was, indeed, particular to my job, and that he simply plugged in the shingles and other materials and priced everything out so that it equaled $9393. This information was evidence enough that Mr. Shields had no justification for the cost of my roof and had simply pulled the total cost of my roof out of thin air. When I asked him about the bundles of unused shingles he had taken from my home, after the job was completed, he simply stated that I was not charged for those shingles, which was bogus, since the invoice he left with me clearly showed that I had paid for those shingles. In closing, it is clear that Allcon Roofing lives up to their name, with an emphasis on the word CON! UPDATE #2: This is one of those rare occurrences where victory was pulled from the jaws of defeat. Upon reading my Angies List review, I was contacted by one of the Allcon corporate entities, I believe his name was Brent Awqeland (sp), a fellow with a South African accent. Mr. Awqeland reviewed my case with me entirely and admitted that Mr. Shields, "who is no longer with the company," had not represented Allcon properly In the end I was refunded a portion of my money. HOW GOOD IS THAT. Even as I type this, Mr. Awqeland is traveling to my house today for a more personal inspection. In closing, Allcon has redeemed itself and is back in my good graces. They stepped up to the plate and address all the problems I had, and in a very ethical manner. Accordingly, I have upgraded my assessment of their services and have given them an acceptable rating.
Description of Work: Allcon Roofing replaced the old roof on my house with premium GAF Timberline architectural shingles. This work was performed after it was determined that my roof suffered hail damage from a recent hail storm. It should be noted that although Allcon Roofing is headquartered in South Carolina, I dealt with their office located at 308 Welborn Street, Suite A, Hinesville, GA. Their Hinesville telephone number is (912) 290-0026.

Allcon was the first and one of the few local roofers that even called me back on an emergency repair after a falling tree hit our house. They were quick to arrive that day to dry-in the hole to prevent further leak damage. Honestly would have been dire straights without them.

Mike Cloys, from Allcon, worked with my insurance company, including multiple visits, to obtain approval for re-roof due to weather damage. The actual installation only took a day. The workers were very respectful of the rest of the property, covering and protecting plants, as well as cleaning up thoroughly. A few weeks later we actually had a small leak over the front porch. They were very responsive in repairing it. The leak ended up being quite difficult to trace the source and took numerous times to come back and fix, but they finally resolved it . They also took care of the scratches on the gutter caused by the ladder, by repainting the entire gutter. Their original work, as well as their response to a problem was very commendable. I understand problems can occur, so their good response was very much appreciated.

They were excellent. They did great follow up work and everything. They were great. They did an excellent job. They did it fast and they did good follow up to make sure that I was happy with it. Their follow was exceptional and after we thought we were done with them, they sent somebody out just to look the whole job over and make sure that we were happy. They looked it over themselves to make sure it was done right. I found them on Angie's List and their rating was so high. The insurance company thought the price was fair. It was all excellent. They gave me exactly what they said they were going to.

It took them from May to August to finish the job. It should have taken 3 weeks. I told them I need to know what days they come out. They never let me know. They would call and say they would come tomorrow and then they wouldn't show up. I never knew when they were coming. They did the house roof immidiately which went really well. However, they did not do the shed that day. I had to speak to the supervisor and it was stressful just to get them to finish the job I had hired them for. They were very unprofessional and hard to deal with. I received a letter last week, 4 months after the job was completed, that I owe an additional $400. There was no explanation as to what the charge is. I am tired of their lack of professionalism and very disappointed.

Overall....I had a good experience and feel well-informed as to what I need to have done with my 40 year old house.
Description of Work: I called and made an appointment for a "free roof inspection". The gentleman, Mike showed up at my home on time and was very professional. He gave me a very reasonable price to replace my shingles. He inspected the roof and explained what was needed. He was very informative...as I am a Grandmother who knows absolutely nothing about roofing....I appreciated all the details. He provided a written estimate and was well-mannered. There was no "high pressure" sales involved and I felt very comfortable with the estimate. I will be contacting them in the future for repairs.

Cannot recommend this company. Basis for my poor rating was difficulty making appoint and then they never showed for look-see to quote. Don't know how their roofing work is as I never got a quote on a job anticipated to be $13000 (did get quotes from others in that range). After calling to make an appointment and FINALLY getting someone to make appointment to come out for quote, i had an extremely difficult time hearing her as she seemed to be in a calling center somewhere (she said no); There were many loud voices in background - very loud and lots of din and noise making it very hard to understand her. Finally got a 10 am date for today. Told them I had to come to the site as it was a church parsonage and one of trustees had to get quote. Said no problem. I gave them vdry explicit directions along with house and business and cell numbers in case something came up. I had to cancel a doctor appointment in order to meet them., I waited 50 minutes and the never showed or called. My morning work schedule was blown. Enough said. They are scratched from my list except for "No recommendations".

We Thank-you for your feed back partaining to your experience with Allcon Roofing. Based on your cooments the following 3 items need to be addressed: 1. Difficulty Making an appointment. At the time of your call we were experiencing an abnormal and extremely high call volume. Our system was not designed to accommodate this high volume of calls. We have since upgraded the system to accommodate higher call volumes. 2. Loud backround noise. Calls are received in our reception area which tended to become an area of congregation. We have addressed this with all associates to keep noise levels down. 3. Missed Appointment. We have implemented stringent disciplinary procedures pertaining to missed appointments and or poor communication. All clients / potential clients are extremely valuable to our company, and we therefore appreciate your feed back. All feed back positive or negative, assists us in better serving our clients in the future.

They were very professional. They were very responsive in getting out here to give the estimate. They were helpful in choosing the different roofing that we were looking at. They were very good in cleaning up and maintain the property while they were working. The workers were okay and did not have very strong English speaking skills. We had to be through with the sales person who came to visit the site. Everything looks good. I would use them in the future.

No work was performed since I could never get a written or verbal estimate from Allcon.
Description of Work: I contacted Allcon to perform a roof inspection and to provide an estimate to repair a handful of small issues with my roof - including a leaking roof pipe vent, a couple of shingles broken or loosened by squirrels, and a drainage problem around some flashing. An Allcon representative came out to my house and inspected the roof on July 12. The Allcon representative said that the company would work up an estimate for me and get back in touch. I heard nothing back, so on August 1st I called and spoke to them over the telephone. They said that small repairs were handled by a different group and a different person than the one who came out to my house and that they would refer my inquiry to him instead. Again, I heard nothing back, so on August 5th I emailed and then called the original representative who had given me his business card. This time I was told that someone else had to come back out to look at my roof and write an estimate, and that this would not be free of charge. (On the first visit, Allcon took pictures of the needed work and I even supplied them with the make and style of the shingle so that they could get an accurate estimate. There was never any indication that someone else would have to come out to look at the roof.) When I asked how much the charge for the second visit would be, he was unsure at first and then said it would be "about $100.00", but that this fee could be applied to the work. I complained that this was very unfair treatment to make me wait 3 to 4 weeks for a response and then suddenly hit me with a surprise "fee" in order to get a written estimate. After I complained, he agreed that he and the small repairs person would come out again at no charge. He called back later that day and said they visited the house when no one was home and that I would get the estimate soon. On Monday, August 8th I emailed again asking for the estimate. He said I would get it by the end of the day. Today is Thursday, August 18 and it is clear that I'm never going to hear from Allcon again. In addition to the runaround I was given on getting an estimate, there was a part of the Allcon approach that troubled me even more. Three separate times (twice to me and once to my wife) Allcon said that I could probably get my insurance company to replace the roof for free since there had been a lot of "hail damage in the area." The minor repairs we were trying to get made had nothing to do with hail or storm damage.

The Allcon representative (Mark) failed to show up for two consecutive appointments. He did not call me to cancel, I had to call Allcon to find out where he was, and why he didn't show up. Both times I was given an excuse about "adjuster meetings" at another job. The experience was a significant inconvenience for me, as I had to miss work twice for nothing. I proceeded with another contractor. The experience reminded me of the Seinfeld episode about "Taking Reservations" vs. "Holding Reservations" - except it wasn't quite as funny to me at the time.

Allcon met with my insurance adjuster to inspect for hail damage and my roof ended up being replaced by my insurance company. I had several roofers estimate the project prior to my calling the insurance company and Allcon was the most expensive. However, I trusted them to talk to the insurance adjuster as they seemed the most professional. Roof replacement was started mid-day and was not finished by dark but was finished the next day. Also, Allcon forgot to install several feet of ridgevent that we had agreed upon in the original contract. Further, they incorrectly estimated the quantity of OSB used in patching the roof. The roof looks great and the cleanup was superb but the hassle of correcting the contract, meeting them midweek, and getting a new invoice was irritating.

After calling Allcon, they called in a few days to set an appointment to examine the problem. They showed on time the day agreed. SInce I could not get onto the roof, photos were taken to show me the problem. Within two days I received a written estimate and contract. The work was performed on the scheduled day and time as agreed. The crew performing the job was professional and polite and neat. Of course, I will not know if the repair was done satisfactorily until the next storm. However, I believe the work was done correctly since I observed the work done by the Allcon team..

I have no idea how much it costed. They were pretty good with responsiveness. They did the job and even came on a Sunday. I wasn’t really there when they came to do the work. I was busy with getting the new house settled. I would recommend them. They were recommended to us by our insurance company. I think they do a good job. We had quotes from other people and the quote from Allcon was certainly well in the ball park. I don’t remember what it was but I know they were not the highest. We would use their services again in the future.

Mark pointed out that we just needed to secure a few errant shingles. Since I had no ladder, he did the job himself and wouldn't charge for it. When we need a roof reinstalled, this is the company we will call. I am sure there are cheaper ones. After some hail storms, we've had them all over the neighborhood 'estimating'. Allcon is a class act and worth the money.

We signed a contract with another roofing company last summer and two weeks after signing our first insurance check over to them, they went out of business and took our money. Needless to say, we were very cautious when picking another company to replace our roof. I decided to call Allcon Roofing because of their Angie's List rating and BBB rating. About an hour after giving my information to the office clerk, a sales rep, Jason, called to set up a meeting. He was able to come by the same evening to meet with us, show us shingle options, and draw up a contract. Jason was professional and friendly and the contract was easy to complete. Jason told us that it would probably be 2 weeks before they could schedule us, but within a few days we received a delivery of the materials and found out work would be starting much sooner. The following week the crew was able to start work on our roof. They worked quickly and nearly finished in one day. By 1pm the second day, the job was done including all clean up. Jason arranged a special meeting with the quality control person so that my husband could talk with him after he got home from work. Allcon submitted the insurance paperwork and we had our second insurance check delivered soon after. This was such a fast and painless experience resulting in a beautiful roof and minimal inconvenience. It really restored our faith in companies in South Carolina. I would absolutely recommend Allcon Roofing to anyone needing a repair, patch, or full roof replacement. Thank you!!!

Quality of work was excellent but supervision was insufficient. Communication and follow through was not consistant. For example: we would be told that a certain would be there to supervise or respond to requests and that person would never show up.
Description of Work: Remove existing shingles and installed new roof system.

They quoted $7200 for the job. I didn’t use their services to get the work done. The roofer had actually done my next door neighbor's roof. However, I used someone else for the job because they gave me the architectural roof and the ridge vents for extra cost. They were going to charge me more for the roof vents and more for the architectural roofing. The roofer was kind of brisk and he thought that he knew everything. They weren’t very responsive since I had to reschedule many times. The roofer’s professionalism was okay. Some of my neighbors went with them, but I didn’t like them so much. I wouldn’t use their services again.
Description of Work: I received an estimate from Allcon LLC sometime in September for reroofing my house since I had hail damage.

I met with Jason, the guy from Allcon, and he was great to deal with. He was nice, on time, and understood what we wanted and what was the best option for our house. The time it took from first contacting Allcon to the time the crew came and put the roof on our house was very fast. Another roofing company was 2 months out, but Allcon got everything done in a week and a half! The crew that did the roof was fast and they cleaned up really well around the house. They put tarps down to catch all the debris and nails, and after everything was cleaned up, they then walked around the house to double-check. Later that evening, Jason came back and inspected the job that was done. Everything was done well and I would recommend Allcon roofing to anyone!
Description of Work: Allcon took two layers of shingles off our roof, replaced two pieces of plywood that were in bad shape, replaced the base waterproof layer, put new shingles on, and then painted our booties to blend in with the house. They did a great job and cleaned up really well too.
