Project started in October, 2019, 4 windows garage went fast to get rest contract to do do 18 windows in house. I had some issues with window rot or soft wood on one garage window. His sub contractor#1 said it was fine. I chose to seal window frames with linseed oil to stop any further rot. Now, caulking sub contractor used was inferior grade and I question Doug about it. He said it would be corrected but never was. I stated to Doug that the caulking used on house had to be a certain brand which had a 15-20 years durability he agreed. Now the good part starts the 1st sub contractor measured all window to order, except 4 on porch which on that day was door locked. So Doug never call me or ran door bell to see if anyone was home. to open door for him to measure. Now Doug get another sub contractor for house (who I happen to know personally and very confident in his work. Reason 1st contractor did not do house was he didn't like to use foam insulation and I was not happy with his Caulking skills. Now 14 windows installed in house goes basically great, sub contractor#2 and his helper did a job beyond belief. His metal work around windows showed no caulking at all. It was all hidden behind metal. Now hear is where everything goes BAD. The 4 windows on porch that never were ordered, now Doug comes over with a friend and measures the windows in December 2019. Windows are delivered last week of January 2020. Sub Contractor#2 starts working on installing last 4 windows and right off the bat after measuring the new windows and window opening he said windows are undersized and I told him not to install and tell Doug to check this out before going any further. Well I had to leave and take a family member to Doctors. When I return home the undersized windows are installed with a opening of 5/8 to 3/4 inch space between wood casing and window (all 3). I texted and called Doug to get up here to see the problem, still waiting Doug never shows, this is 01/29/2020. I paid Doug 80% of job and held back some money in case he would not replace the 4 windows in question. Oh by the way the picture window was wrong type of glass and Doug said Distributor messed that up. Now this was going on in early Feb, 2020. At this time here is Doug in person as usual asking for last payment, I told Doug no more money and to replace the entire window to correct size along with others, well that never happened. So now May 18, 2020, Doug texts me that glass for picture window is ready to be installed and he expected to be paid. Well I told Doug don't come on my property unless he plans to replace all 4 windows measured incorrectly. Well now, Doug is at threating stage and had his law firm that represents him sent me notification of a MECHANICS LIEN on my property. My lawyer verify it was there. Now the fun starts with legal battle. Still can't believe he is taking me to court for non-payment because of his mistake in measuring the windows, he is great negotiator. I kind of wonder of he doesn't have financial problems, If I was running a business I would have a carry over fund to handle these type conditions, instead of suing to try and get payed for your mistakes, don't see a business lasting very long when words gets out about his business ethics. I will give you a update after legal suit is settled. In closing, sending 2 Pic of outside window view, there is a gap of 1 1/2 inches between window and wood casing on both side of window, all 3 windows the same.

We went with a local small business owner for our replacement windows because we wanted to support such an owner, especially during COVID-19. This was a huge mistake on our part. The windows are Simonton 5500 series and are above average windows. The crew that installs the windows were cordial, professional, and did a good job. Thanks, guys! First off, Doug had a complete wrong set of windows delivered to our house. The crew takes an old window out (hole in our house, mind you), goes to install a window, and THEN realizes there isn't a new window that actually fits. Gasp! 🤦 This is not the crew's fault but rather the owner's because he did not measure and double check the windows delivered to our house (the only fault of his he ever admitted). Also, the owner was supposed to be at our house at 8 AM the first day of installation but didn't even show up until mid-afternoon after we had a makeshift window in our house. 🙄 We forgave this huge mistake and stuck it out. Patience, grace and forgiveness are important, but we should have gone with our instinct and fired the company then and there. The missed, late, and random drop-by and get an hour of work done here and there without any notice only got worse after that. The biggest problem with this owner is that he schedules appointments for him or his crew to be at our house, but either does not show up (without a courtesy text or call) or is extremely late due to one excuse or the other. He has a huge pride issue and will NOT apologize for or admit his mistakes and inconveniences to the client (with the exception of the wrong windows being delivered to our house). It's always the client's fault. That doesn't bode well after paying almost $13,000 in cash for 17 replacement windows and expecting a true professional as a contractor. Doug did install new exterior shutters that look great, which was no cost to us and in our contract (he literally asked for a compliment on this, so there you go, Doug). Please save yourself time, and go with another local company. I wish a review like this had been posted before we signed a contract with Palmetto ProWindos. I hope this helps the next person at least.

Doug is a true professional in all aspects of customer service. We originally went with Greenenergy Windows and had the worse experience. David and his sales tactics were sketchy and he sold me a wincore Windows that turned out to be half the window simontons turned out to be. Buyers beware of that wincore windows that Greenenergy windows sells. They claim it to be impact rates and it’s not. Doug and Palmetto ProWindows took over and gave me exactly what I wanted and even repaired the wood rot at no additional cost. I highly recommend Palmetto ProWindows.
Description of Work: I replaced my entire home with new windows from Palmetto ProWindows. Simonton was the brand.
