Description of Work: We had Mr. Barrus replace our 20 year old unit with a 4 ton American Standard outside unit and the coil inside. We also received a new thermostat. .

They paid particular attention to the drain system ensuring it worked efficiently and still gave us the best access to the storage attic. An electrical circuit was added, and the whole system is surge protected. By the time they left the house was cooling comfortably and we were up-to-speed on the controls. Bill and his team were a pleasure to work with.

+ -1 moreFirst turned on AC for the season and it was not cooling air. Found Barrus here on Angie's List with a great rating so I gave them a call. They were able to come the next day and quickly found and fixed the problem (bad capacitor). The gentleman who did the work was very professional and answered every question I had. I have since signed up for a service contract to have my HVAC system inspected and preventative maintenance performed in spring and fall. Had the spring tune up done at a separate date since first repair and again the technician was professional, courteous and was on time. I can highly recommend these guys as I am more than happy with the service I received.

+ -1 moreEstimator arrived quickly after our call, did a complete home heat/energy audit in order to quote/size the correct unit (something NO other company we called did). It turned out that the original condenser installed by the builder was too small for the upstairs and the downstairs one was too large. The new unit installed runs much less and saves us $$$. Installers were friendly and neat/tidy. Top of the line equipment. In all, i am totally happy with my choice to go with Barrus. I will call them when the downstairs unit needs to be replaced (eventually).

They were reasonable on price and I was especially impressed with Bill Barrus's practical knowledge and his enthusiasm for the product. I wanted to do business with a local Summerville area contractor and his workwas very good.

+ -1 moreBarrus was polite, professional, on-time and very thorough. He even gave me a magnet to put on my fridge, so I wouldn't have to go look through old receipts again to find his name and contact information. I would highly (and have) recommend this company. He charged me half the price the first company charged and actually made a repair, where the first one just showed up and said I needed to buy a new unit from them. I always get a second opinion before purchasing something at that great an expense and I am so glad I did. Our AC unit has been running perfectly since Barrus repaired it 10 months ago.
Description of Work: Our AC unit was not working properly upstairs. I called another HVAC company, who never went into the attic, only looked at the outside unit and said we needed to replace the outside unit. Something just didn't feel right. We had used Barrus before, but I couldn't remember their name. After going through repair paperwork, I found Barrus' name and phone number. He came right away. He went into the attic, which is where the unit actually is located. He made a repair, looked at the outside unit (since that was all the first company did) and said there was absolutely nothing wrong with the outside unit. He said I would probably have to replace the inside unit in the next couple of years, but we should be okay for at least another season.

They were very professional! They cleaned up the work area on a daily basis. We were notified of any problems during the installation and any concerns/questions were addressed immediately. It was a great experience. For equipment and installation, this company's prices were well below the competitors. Would use this company again!
