Contacted Mike Stober the owner on 3/14 to meet as his convenience on 3/16 at 10:30am. My wife and I pre-arranged our work day around his schedule. 10:30am came and went without any call or text. At 1:15PM I emailed Mike to confirm that our app't and he replied by smartphone at 2:15PM that "I was delayed out of town, but here now, let me know if tomorrow or Friday work at that time." Having no consideration for this potential customer and our schedule, we declined his offer. It's our experience that if a businessman isn't timely or give the courtesy of a call within a reasonable time, that it's not a good relationship or good service. His reply to my contact almost four hours later was by his smartphone so getting ahold of us would not have been a problem for this person.
Description of Work: Had set an appointment to meet us regarding a job replacing all our shrubbery (200ft +), setup a fountain area with landscaping, and mulch it and another 100+ ft, Also a mowing contract. Was a no show for our appointment at 10:30am.

I called the owner a week before the fourth of July to inform him of this. He said he would be gone on the fourth, but to call him after that if it still wasn't growing by then. I waited like he asked, but the grass still was not growing, and the yard was starting to get muddy and really bad. I called him on July 6th and he said he would be out the very next day at 10:00 am. I waited until 11:30 for him to come before I called and left a message asking if he was still going to come. I waited at home until 1:30 hoping that he would call me back, but he never did. I still have not heard from him. I was going to mention to him that day that I was unhappy with the mulching job that his guys had done. They mulched right over our stepping stones, as well as the Terminix stakes in the grass. We now have to go through and find the stepping stones under the mulch and reposition them. I was not mad about any of this, until he ended up not showing up for the appointment. I was also going to ask him about doing another job that we have coming up in the fall, but now I will be finding someone else. His price was also a little higher than I wanted to pay, but he seemed like a good guy who knew what he was doing so I was willing to pay it. At the beginning of the job, he was fine and everything looked good. However, the aftermath of it has been terrible and I am upset that there has not been any follow through on his part.
Description of Work: They were putting in a sprinkler system, cleaning out some flower beds, mulching them, and trimming some plants. When they finished, everything was working and it looked like a good job overall, except for the grass. The grass was torn up and there were marks from where they put in the piping for the sprinkler system. He said he had planted grass and that it should start to grow soon. The grass never grew.

Michael was always very responsive during our search process and when we finally made our choice to go with him there were no delays at all. He told me that the job would be starting on a Tuesday. to start the job On Tuesday, they were here, bright and early, as promised and the job from that point on was well done and encountered no delays at all. Let me re-emphasize that last statement one more time... There were no delays at all, from start to finish! In this day and age that is almost unheard of but this job was both well planned and well executed by Michal and Sunburst Nursery and Landscape. I am contemplating some additional work with Michael in the very near future and I would recommend him and Sunburst without hesitation. His original proposal was very detailed down to the size of every plant and where they would be placed in the project.
Description of Work: Complete removal of all existing shrubs from the front and side of our home. He installed six zones of irrigation (which included a drip zone to cover all of the new shrubbery around the front and side of the house). He designed a comprehensive landscape plan for our home. The plan incorporated various types of plants and ground cover which will allow for color at different times of the year.

They were very knowledgeable. The owner is an agronomist which, I think, is important. They show up when they say they will show up. I will use them again in the future.
Description of Work: Sunburst Nursery & Landscaping upgraded our landscaping work and did general maintenance in spring this year.
Sunburst not only provided us with a quote that was less than the competition, but provided greater overall value. Prior to the job, Michael Stober provided 5 references and highly suggested we look at the jobs he completed and also speak with his customers before we made any commitment to Sunburst. He got rave reviews by previous customers and I understand why because we were very pleased with the outcome of his work. He and his crew showed up when he said he would show up and if there were problems along the way, Michael kept us informed. He was patient as well because there were some changes along the way. We still have some landscaping work to complete and with out a doubt, Sunburst will finish the job.
Description of Work: My wife and I built a new house and our entire 1 acre lot had to be landscaped. Sunburst installed an underground drainage system, installed an 8 zone sprinkler system using a pump to pump water from the lake into the sprinkler system rather than using city water. In additional 5 retaining walls were built and a concrete pad poured to increase the size of the driveway, Our property was pre-wired for outdoor lighting which we hope to have installed within the next year. Next, 12 beds using 126 different plants and trees were planted. Once the plants and trees were planted, the remaining property was sodded with a new southern, drought resistant species of blue grass. Finally, a stone mailbox was built to finish the project.
