we had counter tops for our new kitchen done in 2021 and were very pleased with the results and the service. We went back to get granite counter tops for two-bathroom cabinets we were replacing, and it was a complete nightmare. I have waited to cool down before I wrote this review and will try to be brief. The management is none existing as the manager kept lying to us and the CEO kept his head down or walked away rather than trying to help solve all of the problems that we had. Everyone other than the young lady that was our salesperson seemed afraid to talk or say anything to us (I believe the management has these employees on a very short rope and they keep their mouth shut to keep their jobs) We could not get any answers to why the granite we selected and marked was now unavailable per the manager who was with us and the salesperson and helped mark it off for us. We were told it was an issue with the manufacturer and they sent us pictures of some other granite that was unacceptable. We went back to east coast Granite so many times (23 miles one way) to force an answer because our salesperson had her hands tied and was also being lied to by management. We found the granite we had chosen, and it still had the original name and date on it that was marked for us, however they put another tape on it with an earlier date and had it marked for someone else. They were not even smart enough to take our tape off (there was no other tape on the slab when we and the manager had marked it). After we went back way too many times. The upstairs top was installed however the backsplash was cut/measured wrong and we waited forever to get it as we kept asking when and where and never really got an answer. When the lower bathroom countertop finally was done that is when the backsplash for the upstairs was done. If it was not for my wife and myself, I think we would still be waiting for everything. I did not mention the lower countertop was cut wrong and even though it was their mistake they did not seem to care about making it better. Finally, we were told that the scheduler tried to contact us to setup an install time and again that was a lie as the number our salesperson and our contract had from day one did not change, so of it was called we would have had a missed call or a message or they had our email as well. Our salesperson had no problem getting with us. Our salesperson got us $100 off our final payment (which does not even cover the gas cost or time for all the trips we had to make in order to get this done. I will add she has left the company to further her education and that was a really smart decision on her part. Unless huge changes in management happen, I recommend going elsewhere for your granite etc., on a plus note the install team was great. I have so many more details but will stop for now. Extremely disappointing. I was told over and over and over again by the sales person 5 to 7 days. Material was picked out and deposits were paid on December 29th, 2020. Templates were made on January 7th, 2021. I was told by the salesperson my order would be cut the night after the templates are made. Two weeks after the templates were made I could not get anyone to answer the phone or return voicemail messages or text messages. I drove from Taylors to Spartanburg to their office and they had nothing scheduled because they still have not cut the material. Then I was told that fireplace surrounds and bathrooms are 7 to 14 working days (first time this was mentioned). And only kitchens were 5 to 7 days. Extremely disappointing. I was not ever told the truth about anything.

I would like to begin this review by stating that I can count on one hand the number of poor reviews I’ve ever left a business. I am rarely bothered by common annoyances, and tend to be very understanding if someone might be having an “off” day. Three weeks ago I started trying to go to ECG to look at quartz countertops for a home renovation project coming up. The first time I went to the Greenville location, the door had the OPEN sign lit up, the website said they were open but the doors were locked and nobody answered the phone. Eventually I left and decided to try again the next week. Friday rolled around and the same thing happened again, so I left my phone number. I was called back and I scheduled an appointment for the Spartanburg location for the following week. Which brings me to today; I walked into ECG after a long drive out of the city on my day off only to see about 10-15 people congregated inside the building, talking, huddled and laughing without masks. I have a new baby at home and felt immediately uncomfortable, because I was under the impression precautions were being taken when I made the appointment. This is an issue of respect and professionalism. My time, energy and patience has been disrespected. This is not a political issue, as I am out and about trying to live my life normally as well. Nevertheless, we are still in a global pandemic (which my father is treating covid patients daily) and I am still taking basic precautions for the sake my loved ones. If I am indoors somewhere, I expect businesses to show politeness by wearing masks, competency and professionalism when dealing with customers who are about to spend large amounts of money. I will be taking my dollars elsewhere and would recommend others do the same.

I have been waiting for the last 18 years to get granite countertops in my kitchen. After finally making the decision it was time for us to do it, I researched and visited a few local granite companies…still wasn’t sure which to choose (so afraid to choose wrong), but after finding a particular slab I wanted that was at East Coast Granite, I decided to go ahead with them. I now regret that decision greatly. When ECG first came to do the template, they told me we needed to trim two edges of our cabinets before the install, and that we needed to either move an outlet box up an inch or so if we wanted to keep the outlet. That’s all they said. I said okay, signed off on it, and did what they told us we needed to do. During the installation, a different person said that the knee wall that the bar top was on wasn’t level. He said they could either just lay the granite bar top down flat and leave it un-level, but that things would “roll” down it, but they were fine with that if we were. My husband said no, he wanted it to be level – so they put a little flimsy shim and 2-3 globs of silicone down, put the granite bar top on. When my husband questioned if that would be secure enough – he said it would, that the silicone would “harden like cement” and it would be fine. The next day, the little piece of wood fell right out. So, the entire weight of the granite had only been suspended by a little shim that wasn’t attached to anything, and a couple of globs of silicone. We called ECG and asked that they send someone out to somehow remedy this. The ECG guy looked at it, and told my husband (I wasn’t there at the time) that I had been told the knee wall wasn’t level at the time of the template and that I said okay, and had signed off on it. They flashed some piece of paper with my signature to my husband, but never gave him a copy of it. First, they NEVER told me the bar top had to be leveled – if they had, I would have made sure it was, like I had made sure the cabinets were trimmed and the outlet dealt with. (the two things they actually told me to do.) And second – why didn’t the installer say, “wait a second – this knee wall isn’t level” and hold off on the installation until we had it leveled? I imagine any GOOD fabricator would have done that – instead of putting AN ENTIRE 12-INCH GRANITE BAR TOP ON NOTHING BUT A COUPLE OF GLOBS OF SILICONE HOLDING IT UP? (We could actually see light coming through between the granite and what it was sitting on.) The only thing they did to “correct” it was put more shims and more globs of silicone down and assured us it was “fine”. Another big issue is a huge crack/fissure in the granite. I was devastated to see this huge crack line coming down from the very top of the piece all the way down to the edge. I knew right away it was not “veining” – it’s obvious from looking at it and there is no other place in all of the granite in the rest of the kitchen that has this “vein” in it. I called ECG, they sent a repair person out. He looked at the crack and started telling me over and over that it was a vein, not a crack and there was nothing he could do. I said I would call someone at ECG to discuss it further, because I disagreed. (The plumber that was there at the time heard our whole conversation and after the ECG guy left, he looked at it and said it was obviously not a vein and that it would be unacceptable, if it were him.) After talking ECG, they told me that it was just a “natural part of the stone” and showed me pictures of the same “line” in other pieces of the same block we got our slab from. 1. I was there when the fabricator laid out our template on the actual slab and I don’t remember EVER seeing such a bad crack/line in our piece. I know for sure, if I HAD seen that, I would have made sure they didn’t use that part of the slab in my countertops. 2. I can’t help but think that even if it was “part of the natural stone”, any decent fabricator would not have used that part of the slab. But East Coast Granite thinks it’s “fine” apparently. The last issue that I had was with the white subway tile backsplash. When they came out to do my original estimate, we talked about the subway tile backsplash, and I asked them how they handled the edges of it - she said, “oh, they use bullnose tiles for the edges”. I was like, okay, great. I just assumed this was what was going to be done, so imagine my surprise when the tile guy said he was finished and lo and behold – there were no bull-nose pieces – all the edges were just exposed tiles…with the clay-colored part of the tile showing. When I told the tile guy that it was supposed to be bull nosed edges, he said “well, that wasn’t written anywhere on the contract”….he said those pieces have to be special ordered beforehand and have it specified in the contract. I told him that ECG told me it would be bull nosed and I just assumed that’s how it would be done, I was never told it had to be special ordered and written in the contract. He said there was nothing he could do and since he had already finished everything, someone will now have to rip out all the edge pieces and reinstall all the bullnose tiles for this to be done right. I have since been calling ECG for days, leaving voice messages, etc…with NO RESPONSE whatsoever. I truly feel that I will never hear from them again, now that they have my money. I remember feeling kind of odd when they told me that all the tiling had to be paid in full, even before the work was done. The way they explained it, I just trusted that their reasons must be valid and that they wouldn’t do me wrong.…my error. When I asked them what our recourse could be if something was done wrong, they said that is handled by the fact that we don’t sign off on it until we’re satisfied – that the tile guy doesn’t leave until we’re happy, etc…..Well, the tile guy said there’s nothing he could do and left – we didn’t sign off……and now ECG is nowhere to be found. This is the first time I have ever done any major remodeling like this…and I have learned some valuable lessons. Always read closely everything you sign and get a copy of it immediately (so they can’t add something to it later and say you signed off to it)…never pay in full until you are completely satisfied…(no matter what the company says about how they have to be paid in full) ….never trust someone will do what they say they are going to do (get it in writing)….and never use East Coast Granite Company.

Description of Work: They did all the granite work in my new home. They never showed up on time and they did a terrible job. The granite in my kitchen has to be replaced it is so bad. When I had them come out to look at it, they said "oh it's a light granite and that's how it looks." I have had granite before and that is NOT how it looks.

We met with a sales guy, Bryan Gale at the ECG on Laurens Rd. He is fidgety and fast talking, so it was difficult to have a long conversation with him, he is always moving. We would not recommend working with him again. But everyone else was fine. We went to the main shop in Spartanburg to pick out our granite, and you definitely want to go to the big shop and pick out your granite. They have more to choose from! The man that came to measure for the granite as well as the ones who cut the granite at the main store are super sharp. Total pros. The tearing out was given to a contractor. He was annoying and complained the entire time like a prima donna and could not even do a simple thing like taking apart our under the counter water filter. He ruined our old cast iron sink which we had planned to donate to habitat for humanity. And from the way he acted, this didn't seem to be his "thing"-tear outs. It was truly bizarre. Not sure why they even use contractors for this, this place is big enough to have their own tear out team. The install team was a class act. Seams were perfect. We had a ginormous peninsula that took five men to bring in. They did it so quietly I had no clue they were even moving it until I looked up and there they were!! This giant piece went down without so much as a thud. Perfect. I was thoroughly impressed with the teams that did:the measurements for the granite, the team that cuts the granite and the install team. If you use this place I recommend going straight to the big shop in Spartanburg. Or heading to another outpost with a different sales team. My sales experience was not the best. In fact it was and still remains and big disappointment. The sales guy told me they had a package with a faucet and sink. So as I was looking at the faucet I asked if it was a Moen. As he walked away from me he said without losing a step, YES! So at that point, I agreed to the set. We wanted either a Morn or a Delta pulldown. So that was an easy choice to make on the spot! When I got the faucet in my hands, it was not Moen. Not even close. When I called him out on it, he said it was supposed to be similar to a moen. Whatever. We went back and forth and he promised me my money back. I never got it. I am now dealing with his manager on this issue. Because I cannot get an honest answer or reply from his sales guy. Hope this review helps someone. And I hope it shows fairly this company's strengths and weaknesses. We are very happy with how our kitchen turned out. It is gorgeous. Just tough to deal with sales guys who are not truthful!!

Description of Work: We initially went into the store on Laurens road (Greenville) and they suggested that we meet them over at the store on Hwy 29 in Spartanburg to pick out granite. We met there later that afternoon. We also drove back over to have input on the placement of the cuts. All appointments were kept and on time except a couple and we got a phone call to notify us if they had to reschedule or were running late. The whole process ran very smoothly and our new granite countertops look great!

The only thing enjoyable able this whole process was the sales guy but unfortunately once you give them the money, he is pretty much out of the loop. This was a horrible process from the beginning. I had to put granite counters in a home I was selling. The templater and installer were never there when they said they would be. Refused to schedule any further out than one day so made planning my week at work extremely difficult as i knew even when we did schedule it they would either show up 4 hours early or 4 hours late. They were able to get the counters installed a day or so early which was good but were very sloppy with the removal of the old counters so when they placed the new ones there was a significant amount of damaged wall visible around the new counters. Had they been a purchase for myself, i would not have approved the removal or install. Additionally, since I was paying for the majority of the counter tops, the free vanity that came with them went to my new house. I went to the Spartanburg location and picked out my vanity from the remnants. It was supposed to be ready the day after install but i never received a call so called the sales guy who told me he would call me back but didn't. Followed up on Monday to which he said the person making the vanity had a death in the family and the sales guy has no way of getting me my vanity. A week goes by and i follow up again. Sales guy says it will be ready Monday. Go to the store to pick it up Monday and it's not even close to what i picked out, it's what the buyers put in the house i just sold. They first tried to argue with me and say that's what i picked out then then sales woman that marked the remnant finally came out and said she remembered me and remembered that we marked a very different slab. After sitting there for an hour they finally said we would have to start over cause they couldn't find what I picked. Had to come back AGAIN to pick up the vanity the next day. I want to put granite in my new house but will definitely spend a little more and get a quality product done by a professional company. Horrible experience!!!!!

I was very impressed with the entire process. Everything was perfectly organized and perfectly executed. Very efficient. Day 1) We went into the shop and chose a granite. We were told what to do to prepare, and everything was scheduled. Day 2) Crew removed old countertop, disconnected everything. Day 4) Crew came out to install new countertop, sanded, sealed, etc. Day 5) Plumber connected sink and appliances. Done. No surprises. No damage to other items. Very careful to sand seams and seal carefully.

The installation took place soon after removal of the existing back splash and counter tops by a separate contractor. The installation of the granite pieces went well and the re-mounting of sink was done the same day. I agreed to re-install cook top and faucet. When the tile people came to install the back splash we noticed several surface cracks in one piece of the granite near the sink area. We called our sales person right away and he said we would have someone out to look at it. That process took about a week. Then another week passed with many phone calls to get someone's commitment to replace the one sink piece. Finally the old sink piece was removed and the first replacement piece almost installed when the installers noticed it wasn't a match to the other two pieces next to the sink piece. So they took it out. It took a couple more days to make a decision to replace all three pieces of just one. We went out to the dealer to show them the mismatch and had them put the the broken original piece next to the slab they had used for the replacement and they could tell the difference. In the same stack was a piece identical to our original. But it took them a couple of days to agree to use that and another couple of days to get it scheduled for install. We got the second replacement "matching" piece installed about three and a half weeks after identifying the original problem. Meantime we were without the use of a sink and partial counter top for at least half of that duration plus the delay of finishing the back splash.

This is the only granite company my builder uses for granite choices, unfortunately. I went to their Spartanburg showroom 3 times, (driving 120 miles) to make sure that I had chosen the right granite slabs for my new home and to have them marked for me. Ubatuba was to to be used exclusively in my kitchen, and Ornamental for my bathroom vanity. When I went into my home to see the new install this week, my kitchen's perimeter granite was done in Ornamental, and only my island was ubatuba!!! My contractor told me that the granite company is saying that this is what I wanted. Now I have to meet with the owner of the company, my contractor, and the salesperson, Bryan, who is convinced that I ordered this for my kitchen .I never told any of the salespersons where the granite was to go because my contractor had this information in a signed contract to give them. This saleman is clearly mistaken, and now I am having to prove that I did not order this granite for my kitchen! Horrors of all horrors. Do not use this granite company. Since then I have learned that designers in town are aware of this company's bad reputation for poor service and inconsistent products, and they will not use them. Will let everyone know how this dilemma pans out...

Salesman Bryan is very help in picking out granite types and colors. There were small scraps of granite that I could take to match colors. The price was 2/3ds of the price quoted by one of the big box stores. The countertop installers were very professional - measured our newly installed cabinets to make template, then came back about 3 days later to install. They were on time. They were flexible with the backsplash, and where the holes for the faucets went. - I wanted the holes to be at about 10:30 instead of at 12:00 (if you are looking at the sink like a clock). Countertops now look great. : )Will definitely use when we redo our kitchen!

I hesitated in using this company because they had less than stellar ratings with Angies List. However, there weren't really any great options in our area, and our neighbors and some friends had used them and thought they were great. So, I went with them. Since we had small counter tops, we were able to use remnants, which saved a barrel of money over places that do not have remnants (like Home Depot). East Coast has a nice little showroom on Warren Abernathy on the west side not far from the mall. They had a good selection of remnants, and the sales woman was helpful and patient as we looked through the slabs. (East Coast has 5 stores in this area, so I think that if I hadn't found a granite I liked, there were probably more options at their other stores.) She gave me an estimate from my measurements and then came out to my house a couple hours later for a final estimate. At that time, she went over the contract with me. I appreciated the detail in which she outlined the installation procedure. I think that this helps to know what to expect. Several days later a very professional man came to do the templates. He called right before he came and was on time. He was efficient and very courteous. He even asked about our plans for our wallpaper trying to make sure that we didn't have uncovered area with the change in backsplashes. I was especially impressed that he took off his shoes before he entered our house. On the installation day, the crew called before they arrived. They worked hard and quickly. The granite looks beautiful. East Coast is a professional, well-run business.

The girl who came out explained things to our satisfaction. We didn't have a problem with it. It was a good price. They showed up two hours late and worked until midnight. They were very professional. He called and told us he was going to be late.
Description of Work: We got granite counter tops from East Coast Granite & Tile Inc. The ripped out the old counter top, made a template and then brought back the granite in pieces. They did the bathroom counter tops too for a special deal.

After getting our initial quote (more on this later) we went to the yard to pick out our piece of granite and made sure that we could get our requested installation date of Friday March 2nd, which we were assured would be no problem. Thursday the 1st I got a confirmation call saying that my install was scheduled for the afternoon of Monday the 5th, the same day my tile guy was coming to lay the floor in my bathroom. After spending some time on the phone convincing my salesman, Rusty in the Simpsonville office, that this would not work, he begrudgingly told me that he would make a phone call but that there was nothing he could do. About an hour later I got a call from the installers saying that they would be in on Friday afternoon. The installers arrived on time and were great and professional. I can barely even tell that there are seams in my granite. The problem I had, however, was in the price. When I was quoted by Rusty, I was told that the price was based on a certain number of estimated square feet and that when the actual cuts were made we would either adjust the price higher or lower depending on actual square footage used. When the actual cuts were made we used 1 square foot of granite less than quoted, saving us some money. When I called Rusty, with the installers waiting for their check, to find out the new total he told me that it would be to difficult to get the invoice amount changed and that I had gotten the install date I wanted so I should just pay the price as is. Since the sale was over Rusty had no intention of helping me anymore. After talking to some other contractors (tile and glass) I found out that East Coast does not have the greatest reputation and that my problems are not uncommon. Just to top it all off I wrote them a letter explaining my frustrations with Rusty to the owner of the company and never got any response.

The overall experience was average. The workmen were very good. They were punctual and they knew their business. They were professional. The owners I would give a D. Overall, they get a passing grade, but it was not a very pleasant experience, at all. I am still fighting a subcontractor because his job was not done correctly. It was a very unhappy experience. The workmen did a wonderful job. The price was good, because I shopped around. The crew was punctual, but the sales people were not punctual. I would not use this provider again.

Chose two "scrap" pieces for counter and backsplash on lot with assistance of Charity, who seemed very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Downpayment made and pieces marked as sold, with understanding they would have to hold them awhile before renovation took place. Decided to purchase travertine tile there for floor and shower walls on later visits because better quality than other we looked at. Also asked if matching travertine threshold available - told that was possible. Again with assistance of Charity. She was great about calling back and with information. I went in to make payment for travertine order and went on the lot to look at my granite pieces - unable to find. Charity wasn't there and another employee said Charity probably knew where it was and would get back to me. Called after Travertine was due in, and found out it had arrived - asked Charity over phone at that time about granite, and she said it must have been sold - is gone, "had meant to get back to " us. Threshold was unavailable. We already chose other colors/finishes based on granite decision, and she was uncertain if they had any more like that, so we were understandably upset on our drive there. Went in to pick up travertine and they did find one other piece of granite that was essentially identical, so was fine. Received repeated phone calls encouraging us to arrange templating "or this piece might be gone, too"- bathroom was still in progress. Finally arranged it day after cabinet delivered. We were not given choice of where cut in piece was made for color/pattern - didn't know I probably should have followed them straight back to the worksite. Was satisfactory, not quite where/what we pictured. Upon install found the rectangle had been cut crooked at one end by 1" (oversize, and sink opening in correct alignment, thank goodness!) - they were able to cut and correct it on site in the driveway. Was installed without any further problem. I believe everyone there is hard-working and does want to please the customer, but they did fall short in our case. I think my granite pieces "going missing" definitely colored our whole experience, and a piece cut crooked does not inspire great confidence. Better communication would have eliminated most of these problems. It could have been worse. Everything looks great, we are happy with the materials we chose.
