I called them b\c my AC quit working. When the tech came out, I was at work so he dealt with my wife. He did not check circuit breakers (that I turned off when unit stopped working), did not go under house to check air handler, wiring, or anything. Walked to outdoor unit, spent less than 5 minutes looking at unit then told my wife it would be $1200 to repair a "broken" fan motor. I called someone else for a second opinion. It was a loose wire and a stuck contactor! There competition came out and fixed for $60!! Seems like the "Davis Difference" between other companies is to replace parts that are fine and overcharge people for them, but don't know how to do basics like CHECK TO SEE IF BREAKER IS ON

Technician did diagnose the unit and found a motor that needed to be replaced and some other minor repairs, but with the age of the unit the technician mentioned they might want to pursue something with a warranty. All repairs were declined. The customer then started posting negative reviews saying someone had tapped the stuck motor with a hammer and sprayed it with WD40 and got it going for $25. When we explained that we don't "just get it going" but offer repairs we can warranty and stand behind, the story changed to someone sprayed it with contact cleaner and charged only $60. The latest story when I spoke to the customer by phone was there as a wire broken, so I don't know what to make of it, but the customer was told that if he sent us a copy of a service ticket where General Heating made the repair and charged only $25 or $60 or whatever it was, we would refund the diagnostic fee he paid us just to be done with it. I think anyone reading his reviews is not going to take him very seriously. He even admits himself that he was not there, so he really doesn't know what was discussed.

The installation at [Member Information Removed] Road was in October of 2009, almost 10 years ago. We then received one service call in August of 2010 for a bad txv and another service call in June of 2012 for a bad capacitor. There are no notes to indicate anything unusual happened on those service calls, but there are notes in our system from July of 2012 that this is no longer the [Member Name Removed] residence, so not sure exactly how to respond to something from this long ago. Although I knew Davis Heating and Air was very expensive, I decided to use them because I wanted the job done right. Big mistake! They said I needed more duct work. When they installed it, they really messed it up. It took months and many phone calls to get it working. What really bothered me was that they lied to me on at least five different occasions.

The scope of the work was clearly written out in the proposal agreed to by Mr. [Member Name Removed]. Even after changes were made in an attempt to appease Mr. [Member Name Removed], He filed a BBB complaint and took us to arbitration and lost. At that time, it was agreed that we'd go back out and take care of a couple minor things that was satisfactory to both sides as a settlement. I would think that the posting of this review at this time violates that ruling and that settlement.

Their sales rep, David, was extremely pushy and didn't show his true colors. One day he showed up on my front porch and wanted to come in and hang out before another appointment he had. I told him that we were leaving so we didn't have time, but I thought it was quite rude of them to just show up with no warning. They gave me a quote online, we never signed a contract, but when I called and told them that we would not be using their services, I got a very ugly text message from them. I'll admit that I didn't respond the best and he just got uglier with me. He said, "we will never do business with you now or in the future, nor will we help you undo the financing with Green Sky." We had never signed a contract or even agreed to use their services, but they had apparently run our credit and set something up with a financing company, Green Sky. He tried to say that I would have to pay them for a part they ordered for the job even though we had never signed a contract. When we contacted the financing company and told them what had happened, they told us that they would be cancelling their contract with Davis Services due to their unprofessional behavior.
Description of Work: We had contacted them to get a quote to have a heat pump replaced.

We do not have a sales rep named David, but there was an agreement to install two Carrier heat pumps at this address that was cancelled by the customer. While I don't know the details of what or why on this one, I do know that you can't run someone's credit without an agreement in place and permission to do so, so the account as given doesn't exactly add up.

House has 2 units, called for repair of one and check up of other. Technician was only aware of repair. Convinced us it would be a better deal for us to have a maintenance contract so we agreed. First thing he checked was the air handler inside. Said coils were clogged and needed cleaning but that wasn't covered under the maintenance contract and want additional $100 to clean that! Charged almost $150 to repair what he said was a loose wire but system still doesn't seem to work as it should.

Customer was offered the opportunity to join our Advantage Club to have both systems serviced and cleaned, but that offer was rejected. Total invoice was $144 for the diagnostic and a minor wiring repair. There's no mention of any other repairs being needed on the ticket.

Service technician had no service parts on truck. Had to send another technician to check first technicians work as the first technician left without reactivating the HVAC unit circuit breaker.

He left and never provided us a bill when asked. Informed us that it will be e-mailed and left without handing us any receipt for the credit card charge. We did not know that there would be an additional $ 50 charge. It was never mentioned by technician 591 and it was never mentioned to me when I placed the service call with them via the phone earlier!
Description of Work: This Davis service man came out as I had the misfortune of owning a Trane system and the blower motor broke. I was quoted by this company a service call fee to get a quote for $ 89. I went on their website and printed off the $ 20.00 coupon. The guy sat in my driveway for over 3/4 of an hour and when it came to paying, he never disclosed the amount and my daughter handed him my credit card information as he told her that the invoice would be send by e-mail. She confirmed with him prior to giving him the information that this was only a service call for a quote! Guess what, we did not receive the invoice or quote ASAP. 3 hours later I had to call them and finally received the quote/invoice! My eyes could not believe the nerve these people have! The replacement was nearly $ 1000 higher than the retail cost of the part! On top of it all, the previous owner had these people install the system in 2004, a Trane system that dies after 12.5 years??? That is bad, but to top this, is the fact, that these people placed the system where it is now, and a monster of unit it is-NO KIDDING! Now they also charged me an additional $100.00 for Additional difficulty due to access. Now that is great, which makes them overcharge this by 300 percent! Just beware of these people and better find a more honest and reliable company to deal with as you will be overcharged!

Service tech quoted repairs and collected for work done while there. Customer, who was not even there, declined repairs by phone because she was gonna find the parts on the internet. Our technician explained that we have to order through distribution channels and left. Of course, you can find just about anything cheaper on the internet, but what happens if it don't work, or it's installed and/or setup wrong? This is a top of the line gas furnace that hasn't been serviced in 8 years.

A very upset woman,who feels that her trust was,violated not resolved
Description of Work: I had a service agreement for 10 years, the last time I requested a service for my ac unit. The technician came out and told me my coil inside my compressor was broke and that it would be 1887.00 plus the 76.00 fee to repair the compressor or 4511.00 to replace the system. I advised the technician that I would be getting more quotes. I called two more companies and they came out and gave quotes after looking at compressor. By time I talked with the fourth comany they had convinced me that I needed a new system so when the 4th company came he did not look at my compressor and just gave me a quote for a new system. After the 4th company removed my old units from my house and installed the new system they found that the thermostat wire from the house to the compressor had been cut by weed eaters in the past and that would have been 3.00. I immed tried to contact Davis. It took 5 try before Nick Davis called me back and let me tell him what happened. That was on a Monday, I called him back on Tuesday and left meesage. A person named Mike called me Wednesday 7:37 am and proceeded to talk rude, talk over me, and that I would not get a dime from Davis and called me a liar. That is when I hung up on him.

Two other technicians confirmed our technicians diagnosis of a bad compressor according to this customers own account, but yet we are the bad guys. The compressor was grounded and tripping the breaker Its ridiculous to believe a 4th company not only changed the system without checking anything , but took the time to reconnect the entire system back at their shop the next day and then call and tell the customer there was no problem with the unit. Now, for the past week Ms. [Member Name Removed] has been constantly calling our office and blasting us all over the Internet. Our technicians, two were on the call by the way, stand by their diagnosis and no, we are not paying for her new unit. The only thing true about this account is that we did take very good care of this customer and her system for 10 years and when the system dies, possibly storm damage, she calls three other companies that confirm the system needs to be changed. The total cost was $76 for the service call and diagnosis, not the $455 claimed.

I've had a contract with them for a year and every time they came some reason to get me to spend money. They could pay more attention to detail and fix little stuff that obviously need fixing.

Only two visits and first was a demand service call on which customer purchased a Advantage Club membership and counted the service call as the first visit. A technician returned approximately 6 months later for the routine service and total ticket was $141, with $60 of that being for a media filter. Obviously, there are going to be things that can be corrected and/or improved on a 10 year old unit that hasn't been serviced regularly to increase it's effectiveness or lengthen it's lifespan. Most customers want their system to run as well as possible and last as long as it can and we offer options to take care of them, but there is no high pressure sales and it's totally up to the customer to approve or decline our recommendations.

Free Estimate provided for the work, where many plumbing companies wanted to charge a service fee just to give an estimate. Best price quoted from 6 different local plumbing companies. Beat the price of most large plumbing companies by a lot! Excellent quality plumbing work in all connections made. only issue is that they did not take very much care in refilling trench cut through my front yard (but they are not a landscaping company)

We have been using them for the past three years. We have been very happy with them. They sent an electrician out when they found out that we needed some electrical work. The electrician was excellent. He works for them but he is an independent contractor that they used. He was very good. Overall, we are pleased with the new system and it has worked quite well. We have a service contract with them for the past couple of years. So they were servicing the old system every Spring and Fall. The contract is reasonable. Everytime we had a problem, they responded very promptly. They are not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. They are a little high on price but not unreasonable.
Description of Work: I am using the services of Davis Services Inc. It’s a family own business. They are in the process of putting a new heating system. They are in the process of finishing that now.

I called Davis Services the next day to talk with the owner. (Michael Davis) He refused to allow me to come to his business and meet him for a few minutes. He said I had signed the bill after the work was done and that I could not do anything about the over-charges. I asked him to reconsider as this was not fair at all. We feel extremely violated by this total lack of ethical business practices. Because we did not understand the workings of a gas furnace, the technician, Jayme, really ripped us off. PLEASE BE VERY WARY OF DOING BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE.
Description of Work: routine check of furnaces. They were working fine. The technician said my capacitors were "weak" and needed to be replaced. He then put in new ones. He also put in a pan switch and a drain switch. I later was able to find the cost of these items and found that He had charged 410 % mark-up on those two parts and 1980% on a capacitor part that shipped free for $6.00. He also charged 970% on a capacitor that shipped free for $12.67 The worst thing was that the capacitors were not bad at all. I took them to a another dealer and they were checked with an Ohm meter and were perfect, reading the full 10 + Ohms

System installed in 2/14 but could not maintain an RH greater than 25%. Even though the system was not functioning properly, they sent a bill insisting payment. I refused to pay until they had demonstrated that the system was performing properly. They first stated that the humidifier had not been installed properly, then, that the plenum had to be redesigned, replaced the humidistat, made wiring changes, brought in various company experts etc. etc., all to no avail. I agreed to allow every change that they recommended. Then in late March the gentlemen I had orally contracted with agreed (Contractor) that we might need a larger humidifier but we should wait until later in the year when cold weather returned as it was currently to warm ( high outside RH) to test adequacy of performance. Communications within the company were unbelievably horrible. My contractor and I would agree to an approach and then I would receive a request (supposedly from the CEO) that we would take another action. Last week my contractor called to tell me that he had been in touch with Rheem and Honeywell about the problem and he had been advised that the unit had not been wired properly for my furnace. Their new manager of installation called to tell me that they could rewire the next day and they would expect immediate payment. I told him that as I had agreed with my contractor I would not pay until it had been demonstrated to be working. He told me that they knew how to wire it properly in February, but he was told that I would'nt allow them to do it. An outrageous lie. I told him to get his people over to my home and remove the unit ASAP.
Description of Work: Davis agreed in 2/14 to provide a central humidification system for my home at a fixed cost of $1,950 using direct steam injection.

It was a nightmare! I have the service/maintenance plan in effect 2013/2014. Issue 1: Service Call The Bad! I received a request for the renewal in July, realizing that the spring tune up was never done, I called Davis. I was told that Davis Services had no clue as to why the service was not scheduled and fell through the cracks. It was newly scheduled for July 24, 2014 for 8:30 am. About 10:30 am on the scheduled service day I called Davis trying to find out where the service guy was. The same person I set up the appointment said "I was not on the board for that day". I asked how is that possible. I took the morning off to make sure I was home for the service call. We rescheduled for 7/28/2014 at 8;30 am. The GOOD! Service technician showed up on time and did a very good job. Issue 2: Request for follow up from Michael Davis The Bad! When the original appointment was missed I asked the same scheduling person that I was dealing with to make sure that Michael Davis got the message that I wanted to talk to him. [Annual Contact/unacceptable service] He did not call in between the missed appointment and the service day. When he service tech was reviewing the condition of my system, he mentioned how committed Michael Davis is to his employees and costumers. I explained to the service rep that I could not agree with him and explained my situation. He was surprised. I asked him to report back that I was reviewing the maintenance/service plan from other providers and the competitors are competitive. The real difference seemed to be SERVICE which I have not seen from Davis. Summary: It has been a week since my second request for follow up and I have NOT been contacted by anyone from Davis, not even Michael. My question is " how can I justify being a repeat customer for DAVIS SERVICES INC?"

They did not make the scheduled install date, they were to come on Thursday, to be done by Friday. They finally came on Thursday to tell my husband they would be back Friday. They did not get the install complete on Friday. They left loaner window units for over the weekend, one broke on Saturday, they did not replace it; we went out and bought a window unit. They finally finished on Tues. The issues my husband told them about, with inconsistent cooling were not fixed. They did not put insulation in the attic, the salesman never mentioned that it needed it, we found out it was needed after the work was done and all negotiations were finished. Calls to discuss the issues with their service department but the woman that answered the phone referred me to the sales rep which accomplishes nothing but an up -sale to put insulation in the attic for $800 to $1000 more. The Sales rep was very knowledgeable when he sold me the install so I'm really curious why he did not mention the need for insulation, I guess he was worried I would not hire Davis if I knew the Bill would be close to $10K if I had known, he would have been right. I noticed that the first response from the company said I never called in a service call, well I did but as stated above was sent to the sales man.

They were always professional. We have used them for years. They came out and they do an annual inspection because my unit is very old. The sales man showed us different units that could be appropriate for us. He showed and explained the prices and rebates available for us. We have to wait two weeks to get that installed. But I was very pleased with their service. They did everything in one day. Someone came back to inspect it and to make sure everything was done correctly. They seem to care about their customers. I will recommend them to anybody.

Maint program on my home 3 system. Check out went well and they were timely. Can't speak to any work they actually performed as it was working when they arrived and still is today. Maintenance program only. The guy seemed to work hard. Update: Contacted them to visit my mother's home where her system was turning off. It literally was not turning off at all. Asked them for a "total system check out'. They first guy that came out could hardly go under the house. He couldn't find anything so they called a 2nd guy. He said that some valve in the outdoor unit was bad and needed replaced. I think it was $1,200 to replace and instead of putting that money into it their comfort specialist said we should just put a whole new system in for $3k or so. Anyway, we called a 2nd HVAC company to come in and troubleshoot the system. They changed the thermostat out for $100 in the house and the system runs perfect. I thought it odd that Davis recommended the tstat as well as a whole system including the wiring. When I called them back they immediately got defensive. Was only trying to give them feedback and their first response wasn't to apologize, but criticize us and the other contractor. This happened 2 months ago now and the system runs perfect still. Point being, always get a 2nd and possibly 3rd opinion on pricey replacement suggestions.

The technicians arrived on time, worked through the day to install the new heat pump and made sure everything was working well before they left. It was the coldest day of the year and after dark when they finished, and some trash was left outside when they left, and I did was not given the manual for the thermostat. However, when I called about it, the company sent out someone the next day bring the manual, clean up, and checked to make sure everything was satisfactory. A few days later, another employee delivered my warranty paperwork and again checked to make sure everything was working well. We have used this company for over 20 years for our Heating and Air and have always been well satisfied with their service and professionalism.
