Description of Work: Danny re-roofed my house September 2010 and did an excellent job. That was the basis for my review and adding him to Angie's List. I had a heating concern in 107 weather - a record of all time for the area. and my HVAC person thought I had a problem with the roof ridge vents. I called Danny on Friday and he came out on Saturday. The vents were OK but the vent fan had failed (he had not installed it originally). Danny offered to fix it and obtained a new fan/motor and put it in on Tuesday. He did his usual excellent job. I heartily recommend him.

I was away when the hail storm happened but when I saw so many getting roofs replaced, I had my insurance company come out for evaluation of my 15 year old roof, last replaced due to hail, and they approved the replacement minus deductible. I called O'Shields as result of recommendation and while it took a little time to get hold of him, when I did, he lived up to all he said he'd do. Took his crew two days, whereas others id similar houses in one, and used heavier felt than normal and higher quality shingles that some in the area received. He replaced all flashing around the chimney and the various vents. His crew seemed to be experienced and no "pick-up" workers; all had been with him for a while. Good local reputation in Spartanburg area. Through many storms now, there have been no leak. Warranty is for 25 years on materials and 5 years, I think, on labor.
Description of Work: Totally replaced the house roof that had been damaged by hail. He did not solicit, as many roofers did when hail damaged dozens of house roofs in the area -- I contacted him based on friend's satisfaction with work he did for them. His price was about in the middle of the quotes. O'Shields was highly professional and he and his crew did an excellent job, not rushed, in order to get right. Used high quality GAF (I think) architectural shingles. Did a good job of cleanup. Other than his casualness re providing quotes, and penchant for handwritten quotes, he seemed otherwise professional in dealing with me. Normally, that would have raised a red flag with me, but I was impressed with him and finally chose him to do the work. He didn't seem too concerned with paperwork but I insisted, and he complied. Three others gave me typed, written estimates, with prices higher and lower, and a couple did not respond to calls for quotes. Roofers were busy here during that period.. Only problem was that I had a rain sensor mounted on the gutter and tied into the underground sprinkler. The crew seemed not to know what that was and when they took it off, they broke it. I had to have other services done to repair sprinkler system and did not ask them to replace it. He did not leave a bundle of roofing tiles in the event I had problems later, but I did not follow up with him to get him to give me one, so my fault.
