He backed out literally days before he was to begin the job. Never once during the quoting process did he give any indication that he would do this. He was nice and told me to ask as many questions as I wanted to. The quote was worded in an email and not formal. I asked for an actual formal quotation and for proof of his insurance which he never provided. I also asked that the work be done in the same work week if at all possible to avoid a construction mess in my yard over a weeken. He agreed to that as well. He ultimately told me hat he couldn't "meet my deadline", which I never had or indicated in any way to him, only that it be done within one week. He originaly told me 3 days, then 3-4, then 5 or more. On Monday morning he emailed me that he didn't feel comfortable doing the job and backed out stating no other reason. I completely understand outdoor construction projects are heavily influenced by weather but again never once asked that he begin the job on a specific date and only that date. The day prior to his backing out, I had dug up, by hand, my sprinkler lines to move them for this patio construction. He left me in a bind with dug up lines and no patio nor a contractor to do the work. Update: After reading his response I probably was overly harsh but nothing stated is untrue. I did not try to destroy him but credibility is everything in business. All it would have taken to get an A grade was better communication instead of backing out at the last minute without reason. I have upgraded him to B and apologize for any misunderstanding on my part. I'm sure his references are great for the work he has done.

Response from Royal Concrete
I had a bad feeling during our planning process so i backed out. I felt that i could not meet his expectations....That is why no contract was signed. People of his nature usually find something wrong with everything and my work is Artisan. I am insured through State Farm. I pick and choose my clients just as clients pick and choose their contractors. Even though this job was lucrative, I am not at all sorry that i backed out. I take Angies list seriously thats why i feel i have to clarify this. Its hard enough running a small business then i have to deal with people like him who want to destroy me without even doing any work at his house. Visit my website.

They just did a terrific job. My driveway had actually settled 3 inches below my garage floor of my house, which is 16 years old. They came out and busted out that area that was in front of the garage. The guy who came out was very good and very professional. He is local, who owns his own company right here in the town. The boss comes out and supervises it and does all other work himself.
Description of Work: I used Royal Concrete to do some concrete work on my driveway.
