While the owner, Rusty Reed, was pleasant and professional both in person and on the phone, I was hesitant to hire Reed Electric because I concluded that if they were unable to keep scheduled appointments or provide timely estimates they would be unable to complete the job without further problems. I based this on my experience with other contractors (painters, electricians, remodelers). I originally got the company's name from a salesman at Home Depot. I first contacted Reed Electric on 8/4/11 or 8/5/11, when they said an employee would come to my home after 5:00 on Tuesday evening, 8/9/11 to do an estimate. No one showed up or called. On Sunday morning, 9/14/11 I called, expecting to leave a message, but reached the owner, Rusty Reed, who was on vacation but taking business calls. He said someone HAD been to my house and done an estimate, but as the conversation progressed he realized he was talking about a different potential client at a different address. He was very apologetic and scheduled an appointment for Tuesday morning, but as I was arriving at work on Monday morning, an employee called, saying he was on his way to my house. I explained that the appointment was for Tuesday morning, and I couldn't leave work. On Tuesday morning, 8/16/11, around 8:00 am as scheduled, Rusty Reed came over, looked at my group of very small electrical projects, and said he would call me later that day with an estimate. He did not call, and concluding that he just wasn't interested in the job, a few days later I hired Andy Holden, a man in my neighborhood who does various house projects. Andy came over on 8/30/11 as agreed, completed the project for under $150, and did an excellent job. He was very unobtrusive and I was able to work at home (I do some telecommuting) without any interruptions. Later that day Rusty Reed called, saying he had my estimate ready, and I told him I'd hired someone else when he failed to call on 8/16/11 with an estimate. He wanted to know what Andy was doing the job for, and I told him I expected around $200, at which point he said I'd gotten an excellent price, because his estimate was for $500. Beyond scheduling problems, which may have been red flags or simply flukes, I never got to a point where I obtained any information on how well Reed Electric actually performs on projects.
Description of Work: No services were performed; we did not get beyond the estimate stage.

We had some ice storm damage previously as well and they were able to repair the damage then too. Anyone who's not using this company I feel like is making a mistake; these guys are just great! I will continue to use them.
Description of Work: We had a break in our line. They did a lot of work to find out where the problem was until they were able to get us up and running again.
