I originally hired this firm to conduct a number of repairs and retrofits around my house, in advance of closing on it (I'm the purchaser, and the arrangements around living in the house prior to the purchase are a long and irrelevant story). The work to be done included replacing the master bathroom floor & part of the plumbing, installing GFI outlets in both bathrooms and the kitchen, installing a garbage disposal in the kitchen sink, building and installing handrails for both porches, and other minor jobs. Although the major work-- the bathroom floor-- took longer than I would have liked, I can't fault the dedication to the job shown by the person who did the work. It took him around fix days to complete. I wouldn't have minded that, except that each day he was here, he promised to be at my house at whatever hour of the morning, and only once showed up before 4pm. This meant that he was working past midnight each day he was here. Perhaps that's not a problem in a commercial building, but in a private residence it's very much a nuisance! The work was of high enough quality, though, that after it was done, when I discovered a couple of additional items that needed addressed (a missing window pane needs replaced and my dishwasher won't drain), I called them again. That was last week. I was originally promised that the person assigned the work would be here Saturday, and wasted the day waiting. I finally received a call from the worker on Sunday, and arranged for him to be at my house this evening at 6:30. I called him at 6pm, and he reported that he'd be here in around an hour. I wasn't at all upset about a mere 30 minute delay, but when the clock reached 8pm and I hadn't heard back... let's just say I'm not happy and leave it at that. I did manage the reach the company owner, and he's promised to call me back in the morning. Forgive the sarcasm, but I believe this means I should hear back from him sometime around next Thursday. In all fairness to this company, though: I recommended them to a friend of mine for some tile repair work she needs done. Their owner met with her quickly and on time, and recommended someone else for the work. He was concerned that his people didn't have the requisite skill to make the repair without damaging surrounding tiles, but he knows someone who specializes in that sort of work. I consider that behavior very ethical, and am impressed with his commitment to doing the work right the first time.
Description of Work: The quality of the work performed by this general contractor is outstanding-- their people replaced my bathroom flooring, right down to the subfloor, put in new tile, grouted it just about perfectly, and also did a number of other minor jobs around my house (installed a garbage disposal, built some handrails for my porches, etc). All of this work was done to professional standards, to the point where when the supervisor saw that the first handrails weren't up to snuff, he ordered them rebuilt at his cost. However. I've had his folks at my house now a number of times. Not once have they been within six hours of the time promised. In the most recent case, I'd been told I'd have someone at my house four days ago, then this evening, and now who knows when. Again, the work is solid, but the punctuality is incredibly unprofessional.
