Description of Work: He came highly rated. Some of my friends had him do cabinet work for them, bathroom and kitchen cabinets. |He was backed up with clients when we contacted him and we waited 5 months for him to start our kitchen. He pulled out the old cabinets, did the measuring and said he would have the new ones done in a month. Well it was over two months. Plus he made mistakes in measuring and making note of what we wanted. He had to change some things and we just left some incorrect things. |In his defense, when he worked for our friends, he had a full time helper. Because of the drop in the economy he had to let him go. So he was doing everything by himself. |I hope things are going better for him.

+ -1 moreThe projects described above were done in separate phases over a two year period from Feb 2010 to March 2012. Hiram makes everything pretty much from scratch, with good quality solid hardwoods, in his own large shop. If you can describe it, Hiram can make it, and you will probably like it. However, if you're in a hurry, I can't recommend him based on our experiences. He would estimate completion of something in 4 weeks and it might be 2 months. Trying to rush him didn't seem to work for us. After learning this in our first couple of projects, we decided that we liked the quality of his work so much, that we could put up with his lack of punctuality. Hiram is an extremely good cabinetmaker, but not as good a business man. Bottom line: if you want high quality well built cabinetry for a fair price and have a lot of patience, he's your man. If you are a "Type A" punctualist, ,maybe not.
Description of Work: Constructed and installed: All new stained solid wood upper and lower kitchen cabinets and wooden island with drawers and cabinets prepped for granite countertops; vent hood and range ventilator exhaust housing; cutouts for new sink and Wolf range, extended size of kichen bar, constructed and installed painted china cabinet with glass panels for display and cabinet space in lower part; constructed stained wood side cabinets in den; constructed a custom wooden shoe closet with 48 "cubbyholes" holding pairs of shoes and three drawers below them for other storage.

Description of Work: He came out to look at modifying our opening for the refrigerator. He was extremely knowledgable and helpful. We did not use him because we found a refrigerator that fit in the existing hole. I will call him for carpentry needs in the future.
