Workmanship is incompetent and completely unacceptable - I do not recommend. To begin, my wood floors are new, we just wanted a different color of stain. Dennis Poole was contracted by Brooks Flooring Services on Rutherford Road in Taylors, SC without my knowledge or consent so I was unable to perform my due diligence in researching Dennis Poole. We had no idea they subcontracted this job out. This was supposed to be a 4 day job that turned into 8, costing us more money in hotel and boarding fees (nearly $3k) plus living expenses. Dennis said the job was taking more time and the floors weren't drying because he claimed we had a moisture problem, but that turned out to be an excuse. They even "hot-wired" their sander to our dryer outlet. His equipment is old, unkept and scratched our floors so badly you can see it in the stain. See photos with white arrow that I attached. After we moved back into our home, we found a lot of damage, uneven stain, damage from the sander, foot prints in the finish and much more that we reported to Brooks Flooring, but we couldn't seem to get Dennis back out. After months of trying to get Dennis back out to fix our floors with no luck and Brooks Flooring not allowing us to hire another contractor we had to hire a Certified Flooring Inspector to assess the damage. According to his report we did not have a moisture problem, the layers of sealer and stain were abnormally thick they would not dry before they applied more coats. Dennis blamed everything on us including the foot prints! They didn't even apply a poly finish, they only used 2 coats of sealer with poly, this is not a proper finish nor is it industry standard. They rushed through the job despite having 8 days to complete it. They did all the work during the last few days because they didn't bother to show up. According to our neighbors, they showed up and left within an hour. They slopped up the floors, our baseboards and left our brand new, stained quarter round outside in the rain! List of Problems: 1. Shoe prints in the stain 2. Did not Cover Air Vents - my vents are now contaminated with floor dust need to be cleaned 3. Gouges, stop marks, swirl marks 4. Hair, dust and carpet stuck in the stain 5. Gauged floors 6. Uneven stain 7. Uneven Sanding 8. One coat of stain 9. 2 Coats of sealer (with poly) 10. NO POLY FINISH According to Mr. Poole sealer with poly is poly, however, BONA and my certified flooring inspector has confirmed that sealer with poly is not a proper finish. The floors should have had THREE coats of actual polyurethane to protect them leaving my floors vulnerable to deep scratches and being easily dented. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CONTRACTOR.

Floors looked beautiful but have been easily dented even though we paid for the highest quality stuff. No real answers when we left messages. Price was a bit more than originally quoted but not surprising.

We contacted Dennis on a recommendation from our realtor for installing hardwoods in our newly purchased home. He came out and gave us a quote promptly, which fell within what we thought was reasonable. We explained that the job was time-sensitive, as we wanted to have the floors ready before we moved in (had a two-week grace period between closing on the house and having to move out of our rental). We worked out a day-by-day schedule that he agreed to. Dennis then waited too long to start finishing the floor after he installed it. We had to move our things into the garage the Saturday we had planned the move, and put down craft paper to walk on to move things in on Sunday. When we realized he was pushing it on the schedule, I made several unsuccessful attempts to reach him, including leaving voicemails. When he finally called back, he did offer to use water-based finish with a quicker drying time, but we wanted to match preexisting floors in the house (and wanted to better durability of poly), so we chose to wait it out. The floors ended up looking great... very uniform and matched the preexisting hardwoods very well. We decided to contact Dennis again for more flooring recently, even given his issues with timeliness. After multiple missed appointments to quote us on the new flooring, we gave up. It seems there is an illness in his family, which we definitely sympathize with, but he never even called to cancel an appointment he missed.

Project went very well. He installed, sanded and stained the new flooring. We'll use them again.
Description of Work: Dennis Poole was a subcontractor hired by the general contractor. We specified him in the project because we had heard good things about his work. Therefore I really can't speak to the cost. The project was to install new floors in an addition and it went very well. The work was done promptly and the quality was good. We plan on refinishing some other floors and we'll use them again.

Dennis was recommended by the guys at our local paint store. He was thorough in taking his measurements and asked several relevant questions before leaving. He did not have a business card or email address, which was a bit unprofessional. I called him twice asking for the formal quote and he finally mailed it to us, but it took him another few weeks to follow up on the quote. We went with a flooring company that had a faster response rate and seemed more organized. He was very nice and may have done a wonderful job, but we did not have time to wait on a flooring guy. His quote was just a bit higher from the others we received, but it was one that we considered because I felt like he knew what he was doing.
Description of Work: We were looking for someone to strip and stain existing hardwoods and also remove laminate and lay matching hardwoods in the remainder of the home.

His service was excellent. He showed up when he said he would come. He did the work in a timely manner as well. There is some time for the wood to adjust to the temperature conditions in the home; he came back four days later to finish. We paid after the service was completed and we were very satisfied. We could not ask for a better hardwood job.
Description of Work: We had basic hardwood installed in our home, first and second floor. He matched perfectly the color of the first floor for the second floor which we had done most recently.
