Planned far ahead for concrete pour at remote location on steep mountain roads for new concrete slab for metal building. Called and arranged. They sent out man to ASSESS the location. He came two weeks before said road good and not problem with delivery so I hired concrete finisher and install contractor and built forms. Project a go as I was SURE I could get concrete delivery. Job with manager and loan..... Got check made to pay from project manager ahead of time. Day of pour. Contractor to pour and finish on site early. NO CONCRETE. Frantic call to me as owner. BAD ROAD THEY SAY! In reality in fact BETTER. As several thousand spent to improve it......and at least 4 big trucks with 22 tons of stone each went in and out packing it and it was better for certain. Neighbors routine in and out with two wheel drive cars??? Rep for concrete folks said I MUST sign a liability agreement to assume full liability for their trucks...….NOW...…. with a load on concrete sitting down at the bottom of the mountain I must pay for regardless...…..of what we decide.....and the last thing I need is a hot load of concrete. You know funny thing when you add water to cement hydration starts...….. so they are pressuring me to sign for liability for THEIR TRUCKS with a hot load of concrete sitting there. RIDICULOUS. I said no. Told them I would work on the road as I have a tractor to suit them. We did so. I got my tractor down there and honestly made the road worse than it was before the ridiculous conversation started! They eventually brought the several loads of concrete in and delivery happened...… The quality of the concrete was VERY POOR QUALITY. The pour took many hours longer than it should have and the finished product is NOT what it should be. This is a new plant for this company in Landrum. I have spent my entire adult life in the concrete business and I am amazed at the performance of this local company. They are really OUT THERE WITH THIS DEMAND FOR HOMEOWNER TO ASSUME THEIR LIABILITY. I WOULD NOT SIGN. GOT MY BLOOD PRESSURE UP...….. I AM NOW RETIRED. AND DISGUSTED WITH THIS COMPANY. I WILL NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN. IF I HAVE TO USE THEM...……..I JUST WILL NOT BUILD ANYTHING!!!!! Just the most ridiculous fiasco in all my years around construction...…..and that is saying a lot! DO NOT SIGN THEIR DEMANDS!!!
Description of Work: Delivery of 18 cubic yards of 3000 psi concrete to my address high on the mountain.
