Response from Tucker Ornamental Iron & Steel Works
I had our secretary look up this name, address and number and can not find a record of it in the computer system. I do not remember the job and therefore can not offer any insight. Who handled the project for you? There is another company in Rock Hill with a very similar name, please ensure it was not them that did the work. Sam

Description of Work: Sam did great work for the repair of a dumpster gate at our Church. He not only took care of the repair, but also gave maintenance attention to the other side of the gate to ensure many more years or worry free service.

Communication was difficult. Mr. Tucker is very nice and sent pictures of various styles of gates and railings - not a big selection but some attractive ones. We selected what we wanted. But then he was out sick for awhile. When we did communicate, he used a lot of terms I did not understand so we did not end up on the same page with what I wanted. We settled on style and price in August. They were about six weeks behind but did get here in October when promised. Somehow I did not get the small newel tops (pineapple shaped) that I wanted. Also, there is breakage and discoloration in the mortar between the bricks on my porch. I was told they would come out add the tops when they came out to put up the gate. That was three months ago and I have heard nothing from them since then. So I have called another company.
Description of Work: They were to install custom front porch and stair railings as well as an automatic driveway gate. Mr. Tucker was apparently ill and was hard to get hold of. His son finally came out for to measure for the gate. Mr. Tucker's mother then called about payment. She said we needed to pay half but I did not understand this was necessary before they even ordered the materials. This should be done more professionally in written or emailed form. The quote was done by email as well. Workers came out about five weeks later to put in the railings. My last communication with them was October 9 and, as of January 19, they still have not given me a quote for the driveway gate.

All the work was done promptly and the workmanship was great. Sam's talents showed on the table repair. He reinforced the table properly without sacrificing the original look. The table actually looks better after the repair. I would highly recommend Sam and his company.
Description of Work: Repair footings for loose railing and reinforced a bar high table with a granite top. Due to the weight of the table the table had some lateral movement.

I had purchased a set of high end outdoor bar stools, from a furniture outlet, which were a basket weave design made of cast aluminum. One of the chairs was damaged (the basket weave seat was broken in three places.) The furniture store replaced the seat with one of the same style but from a table height rocking chair. They also gave me the old damaged seat. I unbolted the two seats and took them to Tucker Ornamental and they cut the good seat brackets off the damaged seat and put them on the good seat in place of the rocking chair mount. Tucker need a little extra time, as the brackets were had to get at, which added a little to the price. I wire brushed the welds and repainted the seat and reassembled the chair. Now its as good as new

I called and spoke to Mrs. Tucker. She had me come to the office and showed me samples of similar signs that Tucker had manufactured. I brought example pictures from the internet of what sort of frame I wanted. I left the address tiles with them. Within a day or so, Sam Tucker called me to discuss the details of the project. I met him when I returned to the shop to drop off my deposit. Sam had some ideas to save money, such as using a background frame in a size he already had, and we discussed details such as how the frame would be mounted on the house, how the numbers should be affixed to the frame, etc. My frame was ready about a week later and Tucker had outlined the tiles on the iron with chalk so that I could adhere them at home. The frame was beautiful and substantial. I had searched for a long time online looking for a frame that would fit my number tiles, but without success. I felt the price was fair for the quality and the fact that the piece was custom made. Mrs. Tucker is delightful, and enjoyed showing all the photo albums of work the company had done. The pictures showed many beautiful fences, gates, garden furniture, fireplace tools and screens, etc.
Description of Work: Custom made a wrought iron frame with scroll work detail for house number tiles that had been purchased at an earlier time.

Sam and staff are awesome. They want to do a great job and enjoy what they are doing. Really can't say enough nice things about the work. Anything you can think of, they can probably do with steel and iron. It is a specialized thing they are doing so it takes time and it takes money but the end results are incredible.
Description of Work: I have hired Tucker Ornamental to build a large trellis, repair aluminum fencing, and generally to do out of the ordinary ornamental iron and aluminum work for both my home and garden.
